Tatting - The Blipless Join in a Very Simple Two-Colour Edging

  • When working with two different threads, you get a little blip of colour that shows at the back of the work when making joins. If you want to avoid this blip of colour, here is a join I came up with which solves this problem. Personally I usually don't mind the little blip of colour, but if you do, I hope you'll find this video useful.

    I figured out this pattern after seeing the previous video. I finished a strip of this edging just last night, and now this video appears. What a coincidence. I also experimented, Making a string of hearts using this method: 6 ds, picot, two ds, 6 first halves, 6 second halves, 2 ds, picot, 6 ds, close, lock chain, then second color heart, etc.

    Oooo a lock chain! An interesting thing for me to try! I am currently enjoying doing some medallions from the last video.

    This is so timely. I've been working on a two colour project for the first time and could no figure out how to avoid the colour showing through. I will definitely be giving this a try. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!

    Did you decorate your lovely shuttles, or can they be bought somewhere? Thanks for showing the bipless join.

      Hello Donna, I make the shuttles I use in my videos and regularly have some for sale in my Etsy shop (www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LaCossette). I do not currently have any shuttles for sale in my shop as Royal Mail is unable to ship abroad whilst recovering from a cyber attack but hopefully that gets resolved soon.

    What thread are you using? swapping the threads its just a 'half hitch' knot =) I dislike the term 'shoe lace trick" and never use it.

    • @11Frivole
      @11Frivole  2 роки тому

      It's Lizbeth in size 20. Yes, a half hitch knot if you prefer. It's just that tatters seem to be more familiar with and use the term "shoe lace trick".

    What kind of shuttles do you use and where do you buy them? I’m in the US and have not found any quite like yours.
