Justin my friend... When I was growing up in a suburb just south of Chicago, my favorite Priest (all time) at our Catholic school and church was Father Kapocious from Lithuania...! What a beautiful guy... He was very quick saying mass because during WWII he had to celebrate Mass quickly because of the Nazi's and he would set up sometimes in the woods to prevent from being discovered... Loved this very interesting video, as usual.... Greg
Hill of Crosses, been ploughed by Soviets many times actually. They even tried to flood the are, but people still return to place Crosses. It's a sign of Resistance to Soviets as much as it is a Holy place for people. Greetings from Lithuania
Legend even has it that around 1963 when Soviets tried to bulldoze the Hill of crosses the tractor driver could not start his bulldozer after many attempts and then shortly died…it is truly a remarkable and holy place
Wow, the Hill of Crosses is one heck of a place. And the food looked delicious too. You can't go wrong with anything that resembles a Pierogi or Potato pancakes. My "Go to" dish in Krakow is potato pancakes with loads of goulash and pickled gherkins (and sour cream of course) Another really interesting video Justin. 👍👍
Can you tell me if its worth to visit Siauliai or just the Hill of Crosses is enough (day trip from Riga)? Also what's the name of the restaurant, you said a tons of times its in the discription but I dont see it :D
Everyone who comes to this holy place first time, must bring and leave their cross, this is a tradition, this place has been set on fire several times, so surveillance cameras have been installed
Never again order Baked Cepelinai... Mostly it's left overs, Always order boiled ones. Thank you for Visiting My Country one of the Hidden Gems in Europe! Ačiū ❤
