Yet, now 20 years later my searching of dharma (darna in lithuanian) is bringing me back....home....
This is so different to what you see in the UK where Paganism has been pushed out to the fringes to be mainly practised by people from the counter culture, which is great but brings with it, it's own problems, mainly counter culture ideas and attitudes that have nothing to do with Paganism. Great to see s true community following the old ways, looks very authentic....
One can never allow oneself to lose their culture, traditions and beliefs. Those are priced in societies that are at peace with itself and keeps the people grounded and humble.
I am radically sympathetic with Paganism. It is part of who I am. But I know that reality-rejecting fantasy does not help anything. The history of European Paganism is overflowing with violence. Christianity did not bring violence to Europe as a new thing. The problem of violence and conflict is found in all human cultures and societies. I stand in defense of Paganism because of its real virtues that need to be preserved. But let's not pretend that anything is something that it isn't. Whatever path we choose to follow, we must make Reality our best friend.
Good sense comment which needed to be said. The demon we have to master is the one within us or it will wreak its dreadful works in whatever circumstances we find ourselves in and that culture shouldn't take all the blame.
We're not vexed. Because Europeans continued to kill each other AFTER Christ was born. And it wasn't because of Christianity that Europeans (2,000 years LATER) are not killing each other in great numbers anymore. It's called evolution. The most evolved people of northern European descent are actually SECULAR. But what's the most uneducated and violent Western civilization ? America; which is also the most religious and Christian. Oh, ANOTHER school shooting ? Let's pray about it, lol.
We have War Gods because we are a religion of peace. If you disagree then we’ll protest and show we are offended. You see, the War is internal, we would NEVER actually advocate violence.

Sorry to say, but our religion is very different than yours. Hinduism has many god and goddesses and ours has few. Lithuanian has been linked to ancient Sanskrit, however.
@@faithcross8109 What makes you think Lithuanian religion has few gods? Lack of historical records? The Hellenic people, who descended from the same Proto-Indo-European people as the Baltics, had many gods and we know of them almost exclusively from ancient records. Since Baltic records are so rare how do you know that they are exhaustive? Granted, Hinduism IS very different, but for different reasons. And it inherited many things from its Proto-Indo-European ancestor which is where their similarities come from.

Poland villages have pretty much the same thing - people still may consider themselves catholic, but it's basically full blown pagan traditions and customs, covered in judeo-christian mythology blanket. For example we still drown effigy of Marzanna in a river, so the spring may come. Church tried to ban this tradition for millenia, but looks like church is almost dead in poland - and the tradition is still here. Also all the sacred groves ale still considered important by local communities, we have certain customs when it comes to collecting or cutting certain trees, like bowing and asking the tree when collecting black lilac... When I think about it now, there's ridiculously huge amount of pagan traditions present.
Not really . Christianity is much more stronger and thriving after 1991 fall of Communism in Poland . In fact , Ironically Communists banning of Christianity made Christianity even more stronger in Poland.

Please, never stop!
My family is Lithuanian on both sides , would love to know if there are more videos you recommend.
same
plenty of them. Just use secret search keyword "Lithuania" or "Lithuanian" ;)
Survive the Jive I wasn't aware of the beauty of Lithuania thank you for this video.
What is meaning jive in Lithuania ..? In Sanskrit life ,
How could you not. Baltija stayed europian for longest.
In fact my family prides isself grately on having never converted to chystianity, how many others can say that?
I'D LOVE TO VISIT WHERE MY GRANDMOTHER & GREAT GRANDFATHER CAME FROM 🇱🇹
If migrants enter such a place. Down come the forests up come the estates
Got 25 percent Baltic in my DNA , want to know more .
me too
So come to Lithuania. Or Latvia :)
So you are not baltic. Atleast in my family you would have to be 95% baltic and 100% europian to be considered one of us.

Im having both my mind blown and heart bleeding watching this, realizing how the roots and origins of me had been corrupted by the Western culture...
In my early 20s i left the country due to politics and dysfunctional society, majority of people mentality is toxic. I've grown so much hate and rejection to Lithuania. Yet, now 20 years later my searching of dharma (darna in lithuanian) is bringing me back....home....
u r on the right track, mate ;)
Best video about Lithuania 🇱🇹!
Well if you visited Lithuania, you are welcome to visit Estonia too. Just give me a heads up, ill prepare the homebrew in honour of Tharapita.
I visited Estonia in 2010 and i interviewed the metal band called Tharaphita survivethejive.blogspot.se/2010/04/tharaphita-estonian-pagan-metal.html
Wow so woke teach me
Amen......oops, :).
Love from Nepal. We also dance in circle and sing the song together around the fire but we usually do this at night time.
What a lovely video. It's wonderful to see people holding on to the old ways and old gods of their countries and ancestors. Blessed be!
So impressed that you visited Lithuania to make video about ancient baltic and lithuanian paganism, big like from me
Love from England! I love your respect for your ancestors! Xxxx
my beautiful country
I visited my Lithuanian ex's (damn shouldn't have lost her) mother in Plateliai which was so beautiful with lots of interesting things, her mother is a Pagan witchy type as well, the whole trip was beautiful and Vilnius is a very nice city.

What is the sacred book for paganism?
Ans: Nature is a sacred book for all pagan culture. yes you can learn it, you can learn monogamy from Swans, Bald eagles, owls and cranes,
You can learn selfless service from flowing rivers, from shade and fruit of a tree.
Butterflies and bumblebees teach us to take as much as we need from nature.
May God Agni (fire God) guide you.
May God Surya (sun God) give you hope.

My grandparents were among the lithuanian jews who fled the war and came to the United States. Fascinating to know my ancestors were actually invited in by Lithuania's king all those centuries ago.
I'm a Hindu and near my home is a small empty patch of land, with a cobras borrow in the center, the people in y locality offer milk to the snake as it is said to bring good luck, it is interesting to know that a similar culture exists in Lithuania

Thank You, I will put it onto my Must Visit List....
They worship just like us ! I'm so glad to know this thanks for uploading this video dear . I'm a hindu , I just searched and gotta know the language they speak is similar to sanskrit and our religion is almost same ! Wow ! Love from India.
@@faithcross8109 they desperately want to be linked to whites. It's thing with them always seeking validation from whites
@@Zzzzzzzzzzzz56 lol no most Indians despise Aryan Migration theory so there's no way Indians "desperately want to be linked with Whites" only a small minority does. Also, you don't seem to have any knowledge on this subject then why bring Whi-te supre-macy?
Recently I saw an interview of Lithuanian diplomat in India where he told how Hindi and Lithuanian language both originated from Sanskrit and have many similar words.
Devas (L) - Dev/devta (H) from Dev (Sanskrit); meaning- diety/God
Ugnes (L) - Agni (H) from Agney (S); meaning- Fire
Shakha same in all three, meaning- branch
I am glad to see their rituals, so much similar to Hinduism(sanatana dharma). It is rare for us to see similar culture outside India. Happy to know about Lithunian culture.
Long live paganism

Glad to see that my european brothers are returning to their ancestral culture! My best wishes with all of you. 🙏

I being a Hindu can relate soo much between Hinduism i.e sanatana dharma & peganism..especially the snake think..we have here a festival in Southern part of India where we go to anthill..worship it & offer milk to Naga i.e king cobra

Thank you for sharing the scenery and customs of the Lithuanian people! -United States:)
I didn't know any of this about Lithuania. Is Latvia similar? What about the Sami of Northern Scandinavia?
+T Riddle Latvia is similar but Sami is totally unrelated.
Thank you for this video, I had no idea that there was physical evidence that European Paganism survived so late in history. Why do most scholars say otherwise? The Teutonic Knights defeated at the hands of Pagans? How embarrassing! Great video, Take care.
tubifexgod - paganism is alive and well in Lithuania - an unbroken link to our ancestors. It was common to find observers of the old ways in the countryside well into the 20th century. Romuva (what Lithuanian paganism is now called) is experiencing a resurgence in Lithuania and the diaspora.
@@EsmereldaPea I believe it started in the at some point in the 1900’s or so but Lithuania was under occupation by the soviets and so they treated them as bad as modern day Jews by putting them in concentration camps.
Thank you for sharing your experiences, it's very educating. It puts some lights ion a part of our history that I had very small knowledge of.
Love it. Lithuanian is largely Sanskrit. albeit with a unique accent.
It is not Sanskrit at all, rather Sankrit derives from a language spoken by ancient people who lived near Lithuania
