Hey Kiwi, This video popped up while I was looking for the best deal on a new Scott jacket. I thought I would add some hopefully useful info as I have had several of these jackets and trousers and use them all the time summer and winter, wet or dry weather. I use them professionally in my job. so I go through 2 sets per year. They do work well though and you do stay dry The jacket is good overall, however it has a few faults that I have found. Things to look out for: Elasticated cuffs can come unstitched, Try not to pull the little pull things too hard at the wrist as they can come unstitched too. There is some elastic drawstring in the neck at the back, watch it doesn't come detached inside. Only had it happen on one jacket. If it is too big it will flap about and quite quickly crack at the shoulders, this is also where it tends to wear out over time even with the right size. You wont know till you have been out on a ride. Where the wrinkles are in the arms, the rubberised material starts to break down and then its just material underneath. Be gentle with the zip as you 've already found out, its not the strongest. You will know when to change it as your jacket underneath will start getting damp at the front. I have a large tank too! The trousers were good but wore out quickly (approx 8 months) on the lower legs where you catch them on the pegs etc, the rubberised material came off and just got worse as they got older. As I said, I use them in my job 5 days a week, all day, So they get a lot of wear compared to if I was just using them on a weekly ride out or similar. I eventually stopped buying the trousers as I found something equally as good but a 3rd of the price, well over here in UK anyway. They are Flexothane trousers by Sioen. There are Essentials and Classics. Essentials are slightly cheaper and thinner and the Classics are a little thicker and cost a few pounds more. I started with essentials but switched to the classics, they last a little longer. I still have to replace then twice a year but at a fraction of the cost. Hopefully if you only go out a few times per week they should last you a couple of years depending on how much sunlight they get as the UV tends to break them down and they go sort of slippy/shiny, that's when you start getting damp come through. They both wash ok in the washing machine and dry fairly quick. If you do have the problem with the cracking or any other issues, contact Scott or where you got them from and hopefully you will get a replacement, I have in the past. Sorry this is such a huge message. Happy Riding Stay safe out there.
Thanks for the most comprehensive comment we have ever had ! Really enjoyed reading your comments. The video was a wee bit of a piss take lol. That was filmed over a year ago and thanks to the stable New Zealand weather I have not used them properly yet ...on saying that I have only been on the one small tour ..just waiting for my mate to come over from Australia so we can knock out a few tours while he is over here. The time I did pack the Scott gear it never rained lol. Happry riding and again thanks for the comments .
@@RG-500 I went down a size in the scott jacket and it still fits ok but stops the flapping / cracking of the material. I have found that they are wearing out a little faster than before especially in the sunny weather so I could probably do with one every 4 months but saying that I do cover around 6000 miles a month so I dont think it would affect someone who wears the jacket when its actually raining.
@@jord001hello hope your okey just bit confused I wanna buy it but there's two types of this Jacket one with a black zip it's in Amazon for only 79 pounds and the other one is in eBay for 90 pounds what's the difference please
Replaced rst full suit with these top and bottoms. Fantastic gear. Used for daily commute and largely like new after about a year or two of commuting 20km each way in all sorts of shit. Done 400km legs in it too several times. Note sure what anyone has faults with... Only thing I can say is treat the cuffs gently. They aren't weak, they just aren't abuse-proof. Great gear. Breathable and hard wearing. Recommend actually use the gear... Before review.
hey mate , ive just bought a set not on your vid though , this was an after watch .. i was actually in nz (taranaki) for 3 .5 weeks over x mas and new year .. from england .. i did notice your climate is rather wet . i didnt do any riding this year as visiting family . but next year im coming back and want to ride for atleast 1 week of my 3.5 week stay . new plymouth is the nearest big town im staying at .. i love ktm .. what can you do for me
Hi there . Suggest The Forgotten Highway that runs from Stratford to Taramanui , I don't often get that side of New Zealand as its 5 hours way from me :)
Hi there . I am 5'10" with a 46" chest.. on saying that I have a medical condition as I have a rather large tank that sits above my belt line and below ribcage... the missus says too many donuts when I was younger !
Its not too bad for breathability ...I have had a lot worse like the Revit one piece suit that was a sweat box. Sometimes I wear the bottom Scott pants over my vented pants early in the morning and easier to take them off that thermals inside the pants when the temperature rises throughout the day.. LOVE the Scott stuff !
Cheers for the comment . I am please d to report after 2 hours in strong winds with medium to heavy rain the Scott Jacket and Pants held off the H20 ! A tad warm over all my motorcycle gear as well though. Cheers Vjekoslav

Thank you for your input. We love ours ! Thanks for watching
If you want to stay dry you need to put gloves on the inside otherwise water will run down into the glove?
Great review - helped me decide on my gear. Good on you.
Thank you , you won't go wrong with these jackets and the pants as well !
