Audi B8.5 S5 3.0T (DSG) Exhaust - ECS Valved Catback, JHM Downpipes, IE Intake, Supercharger whine

- Here's a short compilation of my old Audi B8.5 S5 (DSG, Supercharged V6, 3.0T) that went through a few exhaust setups while I had it. Some were good, some were ok lol. Didn't have much of a choice for certain setups. These setups can also apply to a B8 and B8.5 S4 3.0T, and sorta the C7 A6 and A7 3.0T cars although those are not DSG. Major difference as far as sound will just be the classic DSG fart lol. Drop a comment if you've got any questions! Enjoy the crazy supercharger whine!
First few with stock cats the car was Integrated Engineering stage 1 with DSG tune. The last few videos after JHM Downpipes, the car ended at Integrated Engineering Stage 2 Dual pulley with throttle body upgrade and E40 fuel, with fuel cut launch (Plus other supporting mods).

damn downpipes make such a drifference in the 3.0tfsi its insane. got a ego x valved catback system and its already loud enough like in ur first clip. but its just on a whole other league of sound when u got em downpipes. there are ego x downpipes for the s5 but over here in germany they are illegal to drive on public road. in germany we call it : TÜV sagt nein
Trust me, I did not want to have to put the race pipes in but with more power these heat soak like crazy so my cats failed and they had to be replaced with the jhm pipes. It was stupid loud as you heard so I got the JHM downpipes with baffle system and high flow cats no questions asked and made it so much better lol. Also TÜV sagt nein here technically lol

Scheis egal mit downpipes und klappe zu bist mit den Db‘s voll im rahmen. Darf blos keiner drunter schaun und der Tüv sagt auch nix wenn er die ECE nummer aufm Mittelschaldämpfer sieht ;)
How tf you afford all these setups? I have a B8.5 S5 and I can’t even afford an exhaust rn.

Do even a cheap magna flow x pipe, and a nice intake (Roc Euro if you can). You'll get some nice sound! Cheap setup too
why do u have an s5 if u cant afford mods ? , u should have minimum 250k before getting an s5
how are you able to control the valves ?
The ECS tuning exhaust comes with a small wireless controller. Works very well.
Valves closed on last setup ??
The 2 step launch clip was with the valves open, and was the same setup as the previous clip
how was the last setup with valves closed?
Unfortunately I don’t think I ever got a good video with the valves closed, mainly because it was just perfect with them open, that’s how I always drove it with that setup. Not too loud not too quiet, and minimal drone. Jhm downpipes +molar exhaust dampers solve a lot of problems lol

Did the jhm downpipes mate up to the ecs exhaust without modification?
So yes and no lol, I wish I could reply with a photo on here. Just depends what car you’re using them on. The diameter of the JHM downpipes do allow it to slip right into the ECS catback (jhm slips inside the ECS portion). But I bought the jhm downpipes shortly after they came out, and found out the hard way that the S5 requires a shorter downpipe length than S4’s do so I had to have them cut just a bit for them to fit well. But it worked out well after I took it to a local exhaust shop, they knocked it out super quick. Another quick note, if you’re using these downpipes for a 3.0T, do get the non x-pipe. X-pipe isn’t beneficial unless you’re getting it for the 4.2 V8.
Can anyone explain where the race pipes go exactly in the exhaust setup cause the pops and bangs those give it are insane. I need some for my S5!
The race pipes go in right after the headers and before the downpipes. If you have a DSG, it is difficult to get the cats out since they're really stuffed up in there right behind the headers. You'll have to drop the transmission a bit to get them out.

on a scale of 1-10 how loud was the valves exhaust paired with the test pipes and how was the drone, i wanna go with that combo but i don’t want it insanely loud
With open valves + non resonated downpipes that came with the ecs tuning exhaust + test pipes....yeah it was pretty close to a 10 above 4k RPM lmao. Quite a bit of drone too. Really obnoxious and to be honest it sounded terrible in the low rpm range, sounded like a tin can rattling. It helped a ton putting in the JHM baffled with integrated high flow cat downpipes in, really tamed it a lot and was more manageable. Made it a lot more drivable even with the valves open. And very little drone with valves closed. They're pricey downpipes but worth it for sure.
@@emilioxrocha yeah i heard from some people that the ecs gets hella raspy and i was just deciding between that or awe touring. but the thing i like about this exhaust is that it’s valved but if sounds too loud and bad then i’ll probably go a different route. thanks for the help though!
