Im choosing to keep a positive mindset. For me, any new httyd content is welcome. It would definitely suck if it was bad, but im gonna keep an open mind for now. It's also possible that this is going to lead to a httyd lego set, which would be a dream come true. Even if the movie is pointless, if it turns out really great, you wont see me complaining. If it turns out bad, Im assuming it will be forgotten pretty quickly, which would maybe be a good thing in that scenario.
I hope if it's bad then it'll get the original Little Mermaid Live Action treatment and be wiped from the internet. But I do agree about the Legos. I haven't been a Lego person for years but if they released Lego httyd then I'd happily go broke buying dragons left and right
My dad have the same “animation is for children” mentality i have to live with his constant criticism and judging whenever he sees me watch an animated media
Matter of fact, he doesn’t watch tv himself, he watches soccer in rare occasions (we’re latino immigrants) but he’s more of a “work is my hobby” type of man, he doesn’t give virtual entertainment a chance or entertainment in general for that matter, he tries to force me to be like him, also he doesn’t listen to music when driving, he doesn’t even have a saved playlist
First because they already use 2D for some things like dreams, flashbacks, or even some special ones like the book of dragons. , and even if it were animated, there would still be people asking "what for?"
@@whole_wheat_soup9321 ?? But it depends on the art style, like 3d like arcane, wild robot, Kung Fu panda, httyd, spiderverse and etc. 3d are great, and 2d like anime in general, They are also amazing, it's not better or worse
i dont get people dawg, most people have been complaining that the recent live actions have been butchering the source material, and thats understandable. however, when it comes to an adaptation that somewhat follows the source, people still complain regardless lmao.

@@monster-mecha_enthusiast_2002 buddy it’s not blind, people have been whining about live action remakes deviating too much from the original, and it looks as though this live action adaptation is going to be a lot more loyal to the animated movie while also changing tiny things. To call a movie bad, lazy, or stupid after only seeing the teaser is just silly. Teasers work like this, especially if it’s a live action adaptation, they will obviously keep the most iconic scenes identical while at the same time changing little pieces of dialogue, like how Hiccup straight up tells his dad that he can’t kill dragons instead of tiptoeing around saying that he can’t.
I noticed that when it got around to this on Instagram A LOT of people were giving their positive compliments towards the CGI toothless and not the actor himself as hiccup💀
Ikr i was really hoping that they would take more inspiration from the books. You could be able to see the dragons in live action and have a new but similar story! Whenever they just make an exact copy of an an already existing movie and only change it by making it live action it just feels like a middle finger to animation..
Even though it's supposedly a version of the books, there would still be a lot of people complaining, speaking badly or even stopping watching because of it. besides being different, unique or new is not always a good thing
People need to understand that we don’t want live-action remakes that are nearly identical to the originals-unless they offer a fresh perspective. If DreamWorks wants to surpass Disney for good, they should focus on creating 2D animation. Many fans have been asking for this. By developing a film with a strong plot, great voice acting, and memorable characters, they could achieve great success.
Sheesh, and that's yet another reason to look into what Paramount/Nickelodeon has for now on, because I've pretty much had enough of this annoying "DreamWorks vs. Disney" war already -_-
It depends on the people, not all of you, besides, being 2D wouldn't make a difference in the rest, just in the visual aspect, and being live action doesn't mean that everything else will be shit.
The trailer and the dragons dont look that bad?? Hello???? Why is there only hate? Imagine we could ve had a monstrosity of toothless but so far the movie actually looks okay Im gonna be real honest, all of this hate is REALLY unecessary and unless the movie is going to be horrendous im not gonna jump on the hate train, we only saw glimpses of a trailer people
Real. We JUST had the teaser for the movie and NOT THE TRAILER, and people are already started hating. Of course they would use footage that resembles a 1:1 recreation from the animated film in the teaser to garner hype from the fans. That's the point of teaser trailers. I could be wrong, of course, but that doesn't mean that they are right either. We all just have to wait and see when the actual trailer releases.
You want to know the funny bit? They had this real how to train your dragon show with massive, to-scale puppets of all of the dragons, and while the designs where similar, they where still somewhat unike and had their own style, seperate from the animated films. But ofcourse, instead of using pre-existing, unique but still recognizeable designs they just upped the polygon count on the models and called it a day.
I’m surprised that the leaks of Toothless and the officially released image looks so similar to the animated movie. I was under the impression that the plot would be very different or would at least unfold differently. Perhaps the latter will still end up being true, but for now it does look like the live action movie will very closely if not entirely mirror the animate one. Also on your point regarding why the studios keep doing this live action remake thing, it’s basically because it’s been highly profitable for them, and I think they see it as a way to reach out to new audiences that wouldn’t otherwise have watched the previous animated versions. Not counting HTTYD, it is debatable whether this is because the movies are too old or because of misconceptions of animated movies as u say, but I can see this as being a way from companies to try and get ppl interested in 1 of their franchises (or refresh their existing interest)
At the time of the announcement, it was fair to be skeptical, but yeah with these new images, it seems to point more and more towards a full-on remake of the 2010 film :( And yeah, they definitely profit from them, Lion King 2019 being a great example as the #2 highest grossing animated movie 💀 There will definitely be changes made in this HTTYD remake, Hollywood can't help having the need to "update" older movies ;-;
@@Ckaiadn Flipping heck CK the trailer just got leaked and it looks like a literal 1 to 1 copy of HTTYD XD Now I'm not opposed to remakes, but given that the movies didn't come out that long ago, this just feels unnecessary LOL

Yeah i don’t know the original book story but for i know i see they do a very interesting and original way to use dragons by making the dragons talk and that every Viking at a certains age they have dragons and i honestly i think this look more interesting then what the 2010 movie HTTYD 1 do by just doing another E.T. story trope (because fun fact on one hand i think HTTYD 1 is good but on the other hand i think this movie is overrated as f*ck) so i honestly think this is a missed opportunity to not made a more book accurate HTTYD movie
I "love" how DW can give us one big poop(trolls, the boss baby) or a masterpiece(Puss in boot: last wish, Wild Robot) and there is no third option between. Dreamworks is kind of like the king of being inconsistent. i mean, disney has good eras like the Renaissance and the Revival, as well as bad eras like the Experimental and the Nostalgia era (how i call the current disney era). but yeah, Dreamworks is always either Hit or Miss.
@@marlonhoek-po7gw Great, now I'm getting bashed for growing up with the Experimental era and only 3 Revival movies since I never cared for the rest of them like Winnie the Pooh (2011),Wreck-It Ralph, and Big Hero 6 even tho' I had some Renaissance favorites like The Lion King and Tarzan. If you hate the Experimental era so much, that's fine, but you have no right to bash Disney fans like me for growing up with it along with the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy just because I never grew up with many classics except for my personal favorite ones like Lion King and Winnie the Pooh like you do ._.
I usually blame it all on both that studio and it's half-brother Illumination's boss, Universal lol. I hate that the new generation of children are going to be watching this as their first httyd movie. Just like how it happened with all the Disney classics, it's just sad that the art of animation seems to be going away from childhood and the only thing being there is senseless cash grab movies made only for money. I just feel very sad about that and can't understand how anyone can get excited for a remake like this. I would rather watch the 1 one with improved visuals and animation they couldn't do bc of their technology back then tbh
Agreed, ever since Universal took the rights even tho' I did sorta enjoy HTTYD The Hidden World besides the first original 2? I didn't really enjoy DreamWorks that much as I use to back then in it's good but hit-or-miss old Paramount and Fox era days tbh. Also, speaking of Disney, even tho' to tell the truth my first time getting into Disney as a kid in the 2000's was some of *my* childhood favorites and guilty pleasures like Jetix on Toon Disney,Playhouse Disney,Pixar, the Experimental/Post-Renaissance era,the Pirates of the Carribbean and Chronicles of Narnia movies? I did happen to have some personal favorite classics the Winnie the Pooh movies,The Lion King,Tarzan, and Hercules, plus Mulan too because of Mushu and the Cricket being my favorite about that movie.
This remake is the only good one. The cgi is amazing, the designs, everything but not Astrid. When a remake looks this good then people are allowed to be excited I mean cmon it’s httyd
cant stand remakes, i stopped watching movies cause all of them seem to be remakes nowadays. also not tryna be "that guy" but as a scandinavian myself, aka viking blood, why is astrid uh. black lmfao. vikings wherent black. just saying lol
They call it culture appropriation normally but they also have to be “inclusive”. So if it’s a culture that’s even remotely white you bet they’re gonna make it diverse
It's okay not to like remakes, but it doesn't mean it's a bad thing, just that you're not the type to like the same things in different visions, besides what's new in addition not being truly new, does not always bring good things
And interestingly, there were black Vikings, or other dark and light color patterns, in the end, Vikings being all white with the majority being blond with blue eyes is becoming a "stereotype" since that not everyone was like that, so Astrid's problem is not even about not being faithful to reality, but rather not being faithful to the animation, that's all
So short summary of the most notable differences between the book and the film Training dragons is commonplace Dragons hibernate and speak but only a few like hiccup understand them Toothless is incredibly rude and a cross between garfield and stich from lilo and stich and for most of the book is more of a rebellious pet than friend Dragons are thought to be unable to be selfless; toothless implies it's a survival method by dragons. Also called the dragon law Toothless causes hiccup and the other boys to get exiled due to making everyone fail the test The main villain is green death, a massive sea dragon that wants to kill everyone In the end toothless breaks the law and acts selflessly saving hiccup With the dragon's defeat hiccup is hailed as a hero But toothless falls dead However hiccup realizes toothless is simply hibernating and in the end toothless reawakens as everyone celebrates
Also toothless is way smaller and without teeth And a Green dragon For those that didn't read the books Terrible terror is literally book toothless with teeth essentially
This ALL STEMS from the fact THEY STILL FUCKING THINK ANIMATION IS FOR KIDS AND THEREFORE IT'S AUTOMATICALLY INFERIOR!!!! UGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first unconscious thought to this (For some unexplainable reason) was: “When it comes out, I’ll just delete it” …Sadly I hold no power to do exactly that…
Can someone at least teach the live action people how to do some proper angles and cinematography?? I mean the live action scene of hiccup in the arena looks like found camera footage of a kid lost at a convention.
Just wait till Dreamworks starts making more of these remakes. I bet its only a matter of time before they make a live action remake of The bad guys, Madagascar or heck even wild robot or even shrek.
I may not care about the live action remakes that Disney does since it never stopped me from remaining an old Disney fan no matter what cuz' what I did for a living even as a longtime Disney fan since the 2000's was to ignore them and not give them any attention by watching old favorites like my favorite Experimental movies like Lilo & Stitch and Dinosaur etc.,Jetix/Toon Disney, and the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy. But not gonna lie? DreamWorks making a live action HTTYD remake is exactly why I'm not looking foward to ANYTHING that Universal has for DreamWorks anymore when I'm done watching Dog Man next year, and that includes everyones obvious favorite upcoming 2026 movie, Shrek 5. I miss the times when I had the right to enjoy both Disney AND DreamWorks equally because of my 2 comfort franchises from the two different studios, Lilo & Stitch and How To Train Your Dragon but now ever since that annoying "Disney vs. DreamWorks" trend full of edit memes happened when Puss In Boots 2 got alot of hype along with The Wild Robot? I guess I pretty much lost that right now lol.
It's not even worked on by DreamWorks or even DreamWorks Pictures. It's done by Universal Pictures (who owns DreamWorks since 2016) and Marc Platt Entertainment.
@@islesofforeignrails7917 Well ok then, but just so you know my point pretty much still stands because like I said, I don't trust what Universal's doing with DreamWorks anymore.
If it's the same thing and you can rewatch it, why not try to see the new version, since it's the same thing with another art design? I bet if everything was done in 2D instead of live action people would be rewatching it.complaining less and accepting more, I think that "prejudice against live action" is becoming real even if it doesn't make sense, although "Live action intolerance" is a good word to describe this.
I said it when i first heard there was to be a live action HTTYD...i wouldnt mind it IF they decided to explore Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the 1st or 2nd...but we dont need a pointless retelling of HHHIII in live action. The movies and tv shows were fantastic and the books were great. Explore someone else's history, it would be so much better and give the world even more depth.
Attention, lots of text Sometimes I think that people saw so much of the negative side of live action precisely because it was poorly made on Disney's part, and not because it was a """""remake""" (because in the case of httyd based on the director who is the same as the animated trilogy, not a remake), Because some remakes people didn't even complain about or thought they were bad in the sense of not being better than the animation in certain aspects, Lion King for example, they only spoke badly of the film, it wasn't because of the story. script or something like that because it was practically the same as the previous one, so there wasn't much to complain about, but the problem for the crowd was expression, and at some moments you could see them expressing in looks, dubbing, scenes, music not as vivid as the animation, and so on, If people don't complain about other live actions, it's because either the remake is of a bad movie, which gives hope for the remake to be better, or it's not a remake but an adaptation, which is something that should be happen here, since despite the scenes faithful to the animation, it is not a remake or adaptation of the animated trilogy, but rather another adaptation of the book, as if the director were adapting the book for the first time time, and being quite honest, it doesn't matter if it's going to be the same thing, since the point here is for the film to try to make you feel the same sensation you felt the day you watched or resisted the animated version.the first few times, besides seeing what this universe would be like adapted into a real world, where some people just don't like it, not because it's bad (for the love of god, the live action Toothless is so well done that for me it made the animation seem boring, besides being better than the Animatronic from the theater special which besides being well forgotten, NOBODY talks about it being useless to have a theater version since it is the same same story being retold on a stage), but yes because it brings a certain strangeness to people who have seen a lot of animation that only reaches that universe as animation and not as anything else, which is curiously different from other exemplary live actions that were so successful that no one seems to dare to say an A about them, like the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, "Godzilla", the first resident evil, one piece, but that's because some of these are adaptations of games, so who cares? Speaking of these other examples, one thing I also saw about why these adaptations are live action, it is not necessarily for a modern era, but rather to attract new audiences, which is something that worked quite well with One Piece, Sonic and Detective Pikachu. Of course, I also can't lie that it's really annoying when they change characters like in the case of Black Astrid, but again, it's not an adaptation of the animation, but of the book, and if they could change the the visual aspect of dragons like Toothless where in the book he is basically a terrifying terror with a tooth on his snout, so why not the characters? Not to mention that in real life, this thing about all Vikings being white, with the majority having blond hair and blue eyes, has already become a stereotype, since it was discovered that some had fair skin. darker, black hair, and even specimens with black skin, so her being black is not the problem for realistic fidelity, but for the fidelity of the animation or book, I think the important thing here is not about the visual aspect, but but rather about their professionalism, if they do it well, it's all good, you won't even care if it's black or not, but if it's really bad or poorly done, the problem isn't the lack of loyalty and yes, the work is not done with love. I personally give a little hope to this film, even with some concerns, and I think people should try to see it as a special event, and not as something that should be new, which speaking of which, waiting for something completely new and different can also be a problem, whether for an adaptation, remake or even a never-before-seen film, boss baby, trolls, zilla 98, are different and or new films, but... They are not good, besides that nothing is truly new and unique if we analyze it well, anyway, that's it, I vented (I hope I was a good engagement)
It's actually funny how people see this as a huge "damage", when it can't even be a damage, when a live action is really good, everyone praises it and the others are left cursed remained silent, being a remake or an adaptation, and others just don't watch it because it's live action, which could be considered prejudice, but that word doesn't fit here, besides I may be the first human being in the world to say something like that.
Yeah that's true, a lot of people dislike it because of what Disney has done. It wasn't more so the CGI and most of the actors/actresses, it's more so the writing and how they changed up key parts of the story. A prime example is Lion King (2019) when they messed up the Be Prepared song, unnecessarily gave Beyoncé her own song, and was offbeat with Simba roaring at Pride Rock when Scar was finished. Same concept goes for many others. But I do find this HTTYD remake interesting. My main concern was Toothless's design. Looks like they got it right, they just need to brighten his eyes to more of a light shade of bright green or emerald green.
I for one am excited for the movie. I think it’s dumb that they are making a new live action when they could make an actually good show with the original characters between movies 2 and 3 but I am excited to feel like I am experiencing httyd for the first time again
See, I read the books growing up and I still adore the movies and tv series. If Dreamworks was making a live action series based off of the books, I wouldn't be mad but remaking the classic movie that holds up SO WELL today with a whole timeline, lore and emotions then there is not point
Hey I'll be honest I'm impressed with how toothless and the other dragons look. Thinking I should watch the other three movies before watching this one
READ THE BOOK!!! the HTTYD books dont get enough credit anymore. they are super different from the movie, and while the first one isnt great the later books are incredible!
That movie is just a lazy old cash grab. Like, they just ran out of ideas. They just did by taking an animated movie, then made it live-action and changing the plot. Especially regarding to the realistic version of toothless.
Some how when we want a remake/updated version they just change the whole thing, then when we want them to chage it up qhen they remake it they do a 1 to 1
I dont want a remake. All I wanna see is a new httyd film. I wanna see a story about Hiccup's children and what happens when they grow up. I wanna see them meet new riders and perhaps develop new friendships. Maybe they could even find another night fury and Toothless could have more babies! I'm sure having two wives is totally normal for the Alpha of all Dragons.
There’s absolutely no justification in doing a httyd live action movie of a movie that’s not even that old like 2010 wasn’t even that long ago. The fact that all these studios are doing this is insane and Disney is doing a remake of Moana which is a movie that came out literallyin 2016 like what? Instead of doing this, what they really should’ve done is another actual animated httyd movie. I know they said the third movie was going to be the last one however, anything other than this would’ve been better in fact, they could have even done a prequel to the first movie before hiccup and toothless meet. Or another movie about hiccup and Astrid’s children. There’s so many ideas there are floating around but no let’s make a remake of a movie that doesn’t need anything done to it..
The live action and animated versions of "Mo Dao Zu Shi" were released within a year of each other, and they were both pretty well received. Although the animated version had a lot more delays in the last season, so the live action version finished first.
I think its gonna be great because I saw the Teaser and its really good. When you love an animated movie so much and you see it come to life it makes you soo happy. If you don't like live action and start judging without even watching first then you should shut up.
It'll probably be okay, but that's the problem, we don't need another okay remake to just be forgotten after its theatrical run, and everyone just continues to watch the superior original version years after. It's a waste of time and resources that could have been better used for adapting something else or doing something new. However, even if studios put their own spin on it, it doesn't mean that it's guaranteed to be good either (*cough* Mufasa). If an animation is adapted into live-action (or glorified realistic cgi), it is always going to be dulled down because you can only do so much in real life (even with Cgi's help). Animation to live-action just does not work. You can't blame the studios for making these; it's the casual audiences going to see them that makes them too profitable not to.
I really hope this bombs... A lot of bad movies lately have justifiably gotten bombed over the years and hopefully we can set the precedent that this doesn't NEED to exist. Then again... it could actually turn out decent but I HIGHLY doubt that
I kinda want to see how they are gonna render Toothless and other dragons so they look "life action" just for the art of animation/cgi alone. But I'm sure going to Yarr harr harr this movie
To be honest, I’m excited for it! Even if it is exactly the same, it’ll still be a masterpiece (although I do understand complaints of it not being creative; I just am a person who grew up with httyd my whole life and am glad to see it continuing on with me, so I am incredibly biased towards liking it). If it tries something new, that’ll be even better! I don’t think httyd will ever be bad in my eyes (ignoring the existence of nine realms ofc)
We dont rlly need any movie but this is here for the people who want it, like me. Its okay to dislike it or not want it but I want it. I want to see the affects. I wanna see how good (or bad) it can get!
I'm really not happy about some of the choices in the production, but overall I'm really excited to see it, strictly because I'm a die hard HTTYD fan and a live action film sounds amazing. We can only wait and see how it goes when it releases...
Nah it's looks fine man, nothing is perfect when it comes to live action. It just shows us that we have finally have real life movie in how to train ur dragon. Lets see this soon if worth it to watch❤
Let's calm down a bit, this is just 1 photo taken out of context, so yes sure it look extremely cheap but it's not the first time photo from a movie set look ultra cheap but the actual movie end up looking really good, remember the first picture le H cavil as Geralt, he looked really bad, but then the show came out and it looked great ( before bad writers decided to use the books and games as toilet paper and insult all the fans of course ) I mean, I still think this remake have no real reason for existing other than money, but I won't judge it until I see it
they could put more story that wasn't put into the animated version so maybe they can address it in the live action version and I'm happy they look accurate to the animated version.
They just couldn’t continue the HTTYD series with a new 2d one with a different story with different characters in the medieval or renaissance era instead?
I have so many mixed feelings about this movie. Cause the movie is my favorite, but it reminds me of the Lion King live action, how it will be a shot for shot- which I'm not upset about. But it will never beat the original.
This movie was uncalled for in the first place. Why make live action for an already CGI film? And making Astrid black also turns me off. I won't be watching.
I disagree, the original animated ones are perfect. If they are gonna turn them live action(they don't care that we don't want it), DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING
I thought that the start of the whole idea of HTYD live action started from the situation that the animated film and Dreamworks was heavily criticized for the lack of diversity and representation during the theatrical release of the last animated film in the HTYD saga. I'm not against diversity and representation in movies when it's done well and not one-dimensionally and tokenistically just for its own sake only (and by this I mean that, for example, a wheelchair-bound character is in the movie only because of the wheelchair and the character's whole personality is the wheelchair and the character has no other function in the film than the wheelchair and the only thing the character remembered for is that wheelchair because the character didn't talk about anything but this wheelchair). But even adding more diversity prepresebtation a weak justification to make a one-to-one copy/remake of the original movie only with a change in casting in order to respond to previously received criticism and feedback and I would rather see a completely new adaptation in which it is already implemented naturally and not added afterwards.
im actually kind of excited for this movie. for me, the difference in this and say the lion king, is that NO ONE asked for live action lion king, but EVERYONE asked for a live action httyd and have been asking for years. i trust that this movie is at least not going to be trash
The only difference is Astrid is black, bring on the DEI for a more diverse group of Norse people who may historically be white but Hollywood with their ESG dollars/points will change that. Who cares about the book when they can stick the original animated movie in a blender with live action DEI hires.
The upcoming Harry Potter remake is way worse cause Harry Potter already had a great live adaptation and that adaptation was already faithful to the books. That tv show their planning was literally useless!

See that's the thing. Live action remakes are all the craze. When are they gonna start making animated remakes?
Nah cuz' I enjoyed the HTTYD trilogy as it is just fine lol.
First because they already use 2D for some things like dreams, flashbacks, or even some special ones like the book of dragons. , and even if it were animated, there would still be people asking "what for?"
no because people are stupid and pretend that 3d is objectively better than 2d
@@whole_wheat_soup9321 ?? But it depends on the art style, like 3d like arcane, wild robot, Kung Fu panda, httyd, spiderverse and etc. 3d are great, and 2d like anime in general, They are also amazing, it's not better or worse
If they don't add dancing Toothless in the live-action remake.
I'mma sue.
They also need Gerard Butler to scream SCOTLAND FOREVER! xD
i dont get people dawg, most people have been complaining that the recent live actions have been butchering the source material, and thats understandable. however, when it comes to an adaptation that somewhat follows the source, people still complain regardless lmao.
Dude seriously! We’re getting a live action adaptation of one of the best Dreamworks movies if not their best movie ever and it is super good looking!

If they AT LEAST did an accurate version of the books, it would be a reason for this to exist! BUT NOT THIS COME ONNNN!
Ikr i was really hoping that they would take more inspiration from the books. You could be able to see the dragons in live action and have a new but similar story! Whenever they just make an exact copy of an an already existing movie and only change it by making it live action it just feels like a middle finger to animation..
Have you ever compared the adaptations of "Mo Dao Zu Shi" to the source material?
Disney" war already -_-
I think Katzenberg mentioned in an interview that 3D is the dominant animation style.
It depends on the people, not all of you, besides, being 2D wouldn't make a difference in the rest, just in the visual aspect, and being live action doesn't mean that everything else will be shit.

Real. We JUST had the teaser for the movie and NOT THE TRAILER, and people are already started hating.
Of course they would use footage that resembles a 1:1 recreation from the animated film in the teaser to garner hype from the fans. That's the point of teaser trailers.

I love those tbh but I'm kinda glad they didn't use those designs bc they are way too iconic and seeing them on cgi would be heartbreaking tbh
They are going the Disney route.
Not necessarily, being live action is not the problem, being poorly done is the problem, which is what has happened to Disney many times recently.

The books exist
They call it culture appropriation normally but they also have to be “inclusive”. So if it’s a culture that’s even remotely white you bet they’re gonna make it diverse
I think the live action and animated versions of "Mo Dao Zu Shi" were pretty well received.
It's okay not to like remakes, but it doesn't mean it's a bad thing, just that you're not the type to like the same things in different visions, besides what's new in addition not being truly new, does not always bring good things
And interestingly, there were black Vikings, or other dark and light color patterns, in the end, Vikings being all white with the majority being blond with blue eyes is becoming a "stereotype" since that not everyone was like that, so Astrid's problem is not even about not being faithful to reality, but rather not being faithful to the animation, that's all
So short summary of the most notable differences between the book and the film
Training dragons is commonplace
Dragons hibernate and speak but only a few like hiccup understand them
Toothless is incredibly rude and a cross between garfield and stich from lilo and stich and for most of the book is more of a rebellious pet than friend
Dragons are thought to be unable to be selfless; toothless implies it's a survival method by dragons. Also called the dragon law
Toothless causes hiccup and the other boys to get exiled due to making everyone fail the test
The main villain is green death, a massive sea dragon that wants to kill everyone
In the end toothless breaks the law and acts selflessly saving hiccup
With the dragon's defeat hiccup is hailed as a hero
But toothless falls dead
However hiccup realizes toothless is simply hibernating and in the end toothless reawakens as everyone celebrates
Also toothless is way smaller and without teeth
And a Green dragon
For those that didn't read the books
Terrible terror is literally book toothless with teeth essentially
The green death also connects to events from the far past that set literally everything in motion

Seriously, what’s the point? There’s nothing wrong with the original movie
And there's nothing wrong with making a remake, or is there? Or is the problem not the remake, but the art style?
why didn't they just use puppets and animatronics like in the Arena show they had touring a while back in the day
Good question

FINALLY SOMEONE THAT HAS SOME COMMON SENSE. Yeah the night fury design is cool, sure, but that ain't fucking toothless.
Attention, lots of text
Sometimes I think that people saw so much of the negative side of live action precisely because it was poorly made on Disney's part, and not because it was a """""remake""" (because in the case of httyd based on the director who is the same as the animated trilogy, not a remake), Because some remakes people didn't even complain about or thought they were bad in the sense of not being better than the animation in certain aspects, Lion King for example, they only spoke badly of the film, it wasn't because of the story. script or something like that because it was practically the same as the previous one, so there wasn't much to complain about, but the problem for the crowd was expression, and at some moments you could see them expressing in looks, dubbing, scenes, music not as vivid as the animation, and so on, If people don't complain about other live actions, it's because either the remake is of a bad movie, which gives hope for the remake to be better, or it's not a remake but an adaptation, which is something that should be happen here, since despite the scenes faithful to the animation, it is not a remake or adaptation of the animated trilogy, but rather another adaptation of the book, as if the director were adapting the book for the first time time, and being quite honest, it doesn't matter if it's going to be the same thing, since the point here is for the film to try to make you feel the same sensation you felt the day you watched or resisted the animated version.the first few times, besides seeing what this universe would be like adapted into a real world, where some people just don't like it, not because it's bad (for the love of god, the live action Toothless is so well done that for me it made the animation seem boring, besides being better than the Animatronic from the theater special which besides being well forgotten, NOBODY talks about it being useless to have a theater version since it is the same same story being retold on a stage), but yes because it brings a certain strangeness to people who have seen a lot of animation that only reaches that universe as animation and not as anything else, which is curiously different from other exemplary live actions that were so successful that no one seems to dare to say an A about them, like the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, "Godzilla", the first resident evil, one piece, but that's because some of these are adaptations of games, so who cares?
I feel uncomfortable knowing that this is a movie that'll be coming out well I'm still alive.

That movie is just a lazy old cash grab. Like, they just ran out of ideas. They just did by taking an animated movie, then made it live-action and changing the plot. Especially regarding to the realistic version of toothless.
This doesn't seem like a problem, and even new, creative and/or unique things can also bring bad results.

We need it, period.

Because I enjoyed the animated HTTYD trilogy as it is, so leave it alone lol.
I think Katzenberg did an interview about how 3D is the dominant animation style.
Toothless look fine in cgi
I'm really not happy about some of the choices in the production, but overall I'm really excited to see it, strictly because I'm a die hard HTTYD fan and a live action film sounds amazing. We can only wait and see how it goes when it releases...
How long before they do a live action version of the nine realms?
@ultgamercw6759 Never Say never I guess >
That's a TV show.
Nah it's looks fine man, nothing is perfect when it comes to live action. It just shows us that we have finally have real life movie in how to train ur dragon. Lets see this soon if worth it to watch❤
I am actually really excited for this. I've loved the movies ever since I was little, and to see the live action dragons will be so amazing.
Let's calm down a bit, this is just 1 photo taken out of context, so yes sure it look extremely cheap but it's not the first time photo from a movie set look ultra cheap but the actual movie end up looking really good, remember the first picture le H cavil as Geralt, he looked really bad, but then the show came out and it looked great ( before bad writers decided to use the books and games as toilet paper and insult all the fans of course )
I mean, I still think this remake have no real reason for existing other than money, but I won't judge it until I see it
This is exactly what I’m saying ITS SO SO SO UNNECESSARY
I’m going to hope they add something new because I feel like they can
We literally don't NEED any movies. Just enjoy it for what it is. Or dunk on it either way is fun
Ahh yes and then in 10 years we will get a kung fu panda live action remake with CGI ultra realistic animals that walk on 2 legs.
4:53 the feeling is real
This looks like a Disney channel original movie
they could put more story that wasn't put into the animated version so maybe they can address it in the live action version and I'm happy they look accurate to the animated version.
They just couldn’t continue the HTTYD series with a new 2d one with a different story with different characters in the medieval or renaissance era instead?
Or adapt the books Closer this time
Just wait for the teaser and official trailer then we can have our own opinions.
I have so many mixed feelings about this movie. Cause the movie is my favorite, but it reminds me of the Lion King live action, how it will be a shot for shot- which I'm not upset about. But it will never beat the original.
Animation needs talented people. Live-action, not really. So uh... yeah.
What do we expected?
Have you considered comparing the live action and animated versions of "Mo Dao Zu Shi"?
Lion King was not that bad, people just don't understand remakes have to be a copy of their original movie. People just like hating, I guess.
This movie was uncalled for in the first place. Why make live action for an already CGI film? And making Astrid black also turns me off. I won't be watching.
You know, I kinda hoped they'd at least make the Vikings historically accurate at least.
I find that most people criticize Disney for a lack of diversity and representation rather than DreamWorks.
Blud heard “live action remake” and went ITS A REMAKE LMAO
like what they announced was a live action REMAKE no shit it’s gonna be similar
im actually kind of excited for this movie. for me, the difference in this and say the lion king, is that NO ONE asked for live action lion king, but EVERYONE asked for a live action httyd and have been asking for years.
i trust that this movie is at least not going to be trash
Can you tell me the difference between this two pictures
Me: there's the same picture
4:51 watch him predict the future 💀
The only difference is Astrid is black, bring on the DEI for a more diverse group of Norse people who may historically be white but Hollywood with their ESG dollars/points will change that. Who cares about the book when they can stick the original animated movie in a blender with live action DEI hires.
IF, big IF, they got it right it would be cool.
We've only seen 2 pictures of the entire probably 2 hour movie maybe it's just a few scenes that are the same and not the whole thing
I think this looks good!
This is only the first look. That’s not proof that the whole thing will be bad, so I’d be quiet right about now
The upcoming Harry Potter remake is way worse cause Harry Potter already had a great live adaptation and that adaptation was already faithful to the books. That tv show their planning was literally useless!
