Uncoiling Your New Rope

  • Many companies coil their ropes in loops with a machine. This process requires that the rope be uncoiled in the opposite direction that the factory coils were made, lest the new owner be burdened with frustrating pigtails for much of their rope's lifespan. This technique can help to make that process painless and quick!

    I saw this too a few hours too late. Had to do a few untwisting passes to an 80m rope 🤣😅

    This video for beginners needs more words or clearer & slower demonstration of at least part of the 'high speed' procedure.
    Sugg: When you begin to unroll the coil, before re-coiling it (presumably to a 0-twist butterfly of some kind) put the 'outer' end away from the pile to avoid getting it tangled, and to keep it available if you want to double coil it from/to the middle.
