- TEAM ROPING ROPES are very expensive. This is how I get the most life and performance out of my ropes.

I recently bought a cheap rope from Amazon. I don’t have a clue how to use and never seen one till the other day visiting friends in Oklahoma. I really enjoyed roping the dummy and so I bought myself one. I now have the thing so twisted right out of the package that I’m feeling like just burning it. They had their ropes working so good and I just can’t figure it out😂 but I’m definitely not a cowboy I just really enjoyed doing it and want to try now.
Keep at it! You’ll get there! Just keep swinging
Love the videos! Coiling the rope backwards makes a lot of sense to me! Looking forward!
Thank you!
I just bought my sons first rope in Mexico thanx this really helped allot 🤘🏾
No problem. Thanks for watching
Y’all’s intro rocks! Nice instruction, just need a Cactus bag! 😂😂😂
Haha it’s funny I thought about that too. I’ve had that one forever!
@@BarrettHouser Cactus 🌵 should hook you up with one for advertising their ropes!
I would totally love that! Or any of the good rope companies for that matter. There are so many good ones out there.
I don’t own a horse live up in Canada and yet want to buy a rope and just practice and play with it in the backyard lol
I just thought I had to say that your videos are great and you should come up with merchandise!!
Thank you. At some point we definitely will. Thanks for the support.
I did this with my boys new ropes, I feel like they still need to be stretched again though. They came coiled so tightly in such a small box there is a lot of spring to them still. Hopefully after a few more times they will be good to go!
Love the intro by the way!
It takes a good few stretches after the initial one to really few good to me! Thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
I just put my rope on the fence post and stretch it and it still dose not do any thing to it
Thanks for the help!!
Anytime!
I usually rope with them first at the house to get them broke in or if it is brand new at a roping I stretch it with a horse and rope the dummy for a little while
That works too!
I break mine in about the same way stretch it on the trailer ball run a few steers with it to put some life on it burn it a bit because that's what keeps the rope from sliding ive been told practicing ill use old medium fuzzed ropes for beginners id use a 3 strand rope and have a advanced roper break it in some for you just for safety a brand new rope sometimes will run and might put yourself in danger
Just some other things I've been taught and never use a brand new rope for dummy practice it might put some un wanted kinks in it
Yes for sure. I only use old ropes that I am done with for the dummy.
I prefer to stretch my rope on a post or tree stump so the loop isn't squeezed into a kink at the hondo. I've found that the stretch and let relax for a day has become more important to rope longevity as rope technology has increased. I had a couple new Cactus core ropes work great right off the rack but they were almost useless a week later when I used them at a second roping. My last one I stretched it and roped a couple steers then put it away and it's held up much better.
Yes I always think that letting them rest a day or so will make them last a lot longer. The core ropes don’t usually hold up in the summer as well. I only use them in the winter.
good job on the intro.
Thank you so much.
Would love to.see a.review on lone star ropes than!s if you decided to upload
I’ll see what I can do. Thanks
Lol I usually just start roping with it right after I get it. But I’m going to try this
Def give it a try.
I definitely like the Future way more than the C4. I feel like the Future has some good tip weight and it’s so much smoother.
It’s on my list of ones to try. Thanks for the heads up.
Hey There. Thank you so much for all your help. Because of you, I bought my first rope from your rope reviews. And I just bought a roping dummy. But I have a really dumb question, please don’t laugh. Why does everyone put those “head/horn wraps” on a dummy…….? Does the rope wear down the dummy, or wear out the rope faster. Thanks for any help.
Honestly I never thought it did anything. I never have had it on mine.
Hey man love the video but I’ve stretched my classic heel rope and when I swing it it kinks up and figure 8’s over itself
Hmm, interesting. Sometimes they kink because of how you swing. It is hard to give advice without seeing or feeling it. Lay it out for a few days on the floor in big coils and see if that helps. Thanks for watching!
@@BarrettHouser thank you so much I’ll be sure to try that
Good deal!
Do you break out a new rope at a roping without any runs on it and no rubber on it?
Depends on how the ropes feel. Most times I use a slightly broken in rope.

God bless
You too!
Hello, I'm new to this, could you recommend me some ropes and greet me in a future video? and one more question how much does a tamed horse cost
Any rope will do for a beginner. Tame horse is a loose word. You probably need a well trained horse that you can rope off of. Find a reputable trainer in your area and ask them.
A while back I commented that I was a 4, so I figured I might say that I got bumped to a 5
Love it! Great job! Keep it up!
This is how I stretch my rope
Thanks for sharing. Hope you enjoyed!
How do you break in a MS rope love the vid
The same way he did but set your hondo the opposite direction when you stretch it out ms i assume you heel that's the way your loop sets up when you throw
I head but thank you for the tip appreciate it
Ok then set the rope like it would when you catch and stretch that way your welcome
Totally agree! Great job of explaining that! That is an important part of stretching it.
@@BarrettHouser yessir
Do you ever use baby powder on new or used ropes? Thanks for the video!
Sometimes if it is super sticky out, but not normally. I usually have some handy though.
what would you do with tie down ropes.
Out of curiosity, what softness do you prefer in your rope. I like an extra soft. That rope looked purty stiff. 😂👍🏼
It’s an XS
@@BarrettHouser Well Dale yeah! You just got yourself another sub. Merry Christmas to you and yours Houser. 💙🇺🇸🎄
Thank you!!
What size rope do you use?
31ft
Having trouble feeding a new rope any suggestions?
Like a new rope out of the zip ties? I would stretch it and let it rebound. Then try to swing it. Sometimes some baby powder helps too
Thanks will be trying
Try stretching it first. I have a video on how to do that.
Yes sir will do
🤙🏻
What kid of bits do you use?
I just use a simple chain with a port.
What size rope do you use for the C4?
Length? 31’
@@BarrettHouser medium, soft, or extra soft rope?
Extra soft most of the time
