    Yes, a 240mm will cool a 7800x3D just fine, but you can run a 360mm at a slower fan speed to get the same temp, and thus have a quieter cooler.

    Yeah the 7800X3D won’t get that much benefits even with the thicker IHS of AM5 and the vcache holding back it’s temps, it already draws not that much power, it’s such an easy CPU to cool. But there’s a lot of budget 360mm AIOs out there and if it makes your case look better, why not

    it's like 2° per 120mm.
    I'm running 2x240mm with an 12700k with a 3090 with 750 psu. 60° max for everything on gaming.
    With 2x360 got same temp like 1/2° difference.

    I will still use a 360 because it gives me one extra Fan that can push additional air through the case. Also what I think is, that the 360 only starts to perform better when you actually put load on your CPU. Caus 20% Load wont make the CPU as Hot as using 100% and Overclocking it.

    • @ms3862
      @ms3862 11 місяців тому +3

      Yep thisbis the right answer. Get the AIO that fits your case. Most midtower a take a 360 so get a 360 because it fills it out and you have that airflow. 240 are made for ITX and small cases

  • @BlurryOpossum

    I have a solution for any other crackhead pc builders out there.
    A 240mm rad is more than enough for ANY cpu, but the trick is to find fans with insane airflow. I have 2 Wathai 12038 fans that are fairly thick and spin at up to 5300rpm if you so choose to set them to maximum, but their shape means you can run them at VERY low rpm and have your curve just aggressively climb at temperatures that effect your boost bins. Thing to note though, they draw too much power to use a splitter for easier cable management.
    My computer sounds like an F1 car when I wake it from sleep and it's hilarious. I love it. Only use these fans if you're allergic to seeing your temperatures go up and you don't care how much noise your computer makes to rid itself of any semblance of warmth. With a PUSH-pull config on my system (the Wathai's pushing and regular fans pulling to help) my cpu temps rarely break into the 50's for ANY reason. Computer go brr, but it idles at about 27C or 81F :)))

      I've connected an air horn to the temperature controller of my cpu, if it reaches 65°C a 5 second horn can be barely heard at 125dB notifying me it's time to start my Stihl Motor Blower for additional cooling. Its absurd, I love it.

      @DjordjeSrpski 10 місяців тому +17

      there is no reason to worry about leaking, it almost never happends. Case looks much more cleaner without huge air cooler, plus with demanding tasks you will achieve much better temperatures with AIO... Idle should probably be around the same.

    My case can fit a 360mm, but I went with a 240mm to balance airflow. I have 3 120mm input fans, so I figured the 240mm AIO and a 120mm exhaust would be perfect. Should have I included my power supply's fan in the equation? Using a 13700k with a contact frame.

    • @eshelmen
      @eshelmen 9 місяців тому +1

      depends on where PSU exhaust is. Typically, the exhaust is so faint that the excess heat dissipates quickly along the backside of the chassis, making it practically irrelevant for the front components.

    from what i see, it seem u used the same brand & model, just 360 rad with 3 120mm fans which i hope are the same fans. if those are identical, then a 360 wont stand out over a 240 unless u using a CPU which generates more heat over time, THEN the 360 will perform better. you didnt need to upgrade unless you upgraded the CPU to a more powerful one that generates more heat. Next, air vs water cooling many get wrong. If your room ambient temp is cool, go with air. If it is hotter, go with water. many are buying AIO and it's redundant, wont make a difference it's really just for looks honestly.

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  3 місяці тому

      Not at 1080p “my dude.” Why do you think all CPU benchmarks are done at 1080p? Because at 1080p you’re not GPU bound. Also, you miss the point. Obviously, hotter CPUs under full load need a 360. But gamers aren’t playing cinebench. They are playing games. And in games, you can save your money and get a 240 over a 360. But hey you know best right? Go spend the money. 😎

I have a full video on this subject that goes into greater detail. 3. Sure, we can run cinebench and see the full load. But honestly who cares? No one is buying these components and heading home to play cinebench simulator all day. Gamers are playing games. So the tests are indicative for gamers.
