I'm a little surprised that either Mimir or Atreus didn't say "What's this "we" shit?"
You're close to the end of the main story, but you can do side quests and Valkyries after you finish it up. In fact, you may have already finished the main game by the time you have this uploaded. But if not, I bet many people have told you this, but after you finish the main story there is a "secret ending" that you can get by going back to Kratos and Atreus' house in Midgard and lying on the bed inside. The scene will play and then there will be credits. If you wait until after the credits, there is some dialog between Atreus and Kratos that help explain the "secret ending" and after that dialog you can continue with finishing anything you didn't get done.

Visiting ancient temples and solving it's riddles etc is always a highlight of the God of War series. Hey remember when those towering trolls were much harder? Progress. Don't know how you will go about with the rest of the Valkeries but you can tackle them after the main story, in fact it's probably better to do that since their locations will be made available by then
