Thanks to Paul and Tina for being great hosts. We had a great time. We all enjoy a wonderful hobby. Paul has a couple hundred video's on how to get your car road worthy. No excuses, get your Model A out on the road and enjoy it.
Added note- We made it home safe after 5500 miles in 27 day on the road. Wonderful journey!

Driving a Model A on a long trip is SO satisfying. In 1976, the bicentennial year, my girlfriend at the time and I drove her 1930 Coupe (totally stock) towing a small travel trailer from San Francisco to Nashville along Route 66 to attend the MAFCA National Convention. Then we continued east to Williamsburg VA, then to Philadelphia, Detroit and Greenfield Village, then Mount Rushmore, then Yellowstone before returning home, 5 weeks and over 8,000 miles later. Only problem: had to readjust the points a few times. DO IT.

When I was just a kid, my Dad took my two brothers and I on a Model A trip, from here in central Iowa, down into the Ozarks of southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. We were fortunate enough to have with us a good friend of Dad's and his three sons. One car was a roadster, the other a sedan. The sedan had a trailer hitch on it so we could pull a small trailer with all our camping gear. I don't remember how many days we were gone, but it sure was a fun trip.

That is the car I learned to drive in the late 50's, ours was a right hand drive. A thirty year old car looked a lot more out of date in 1960 than a thirty year old car does now. Ours ended its days as a paddock ute with a tip tray for carrying mallee roots, no muffler, a thousand revs on a frosty morning, I can shut my eyes and hear it still.

The lincoln highway is an amazing story. I watched the packard documentary which showed henry joy who got the ball rolling with it. We named a road after henry joy called joy road. But paul another great video. I also checked out the video of the 20 millionth ford. They drove it in a model A. What a journey it took. I've wondered how long it would take if I drove a model A from garden city michigan to California. Man that would take a but. Plus stay away from LA and San Francisco. Lawless areas.

FYI: I dropped the oil pan last week to install new gaskets and seals account my Tudor was leaking a bit more than I felt like it should. During the process of inspecting the lower end of the engine, I found everything in excellent condition - EXCEPT for the fiber cam shaft timing gear! Several of the teeth were damaged, so I replaced the gear with a new fiber gear and buckled everything back up yesterday. She's running real sweet again the leaks have all but disappeared! How to make long trips in a Model A is a lot like life:
“Pray as if everything depends on God, and act as if everything depends on you.” - Rabbi Mara Nathan, Temple Beth-El, San Antonio, Texas

Sadly soon all gas cars will be banned in EU and USA! In France they have a new banning law for ICE cars called SCHLABOUBVE and in Switzerland the HESCHLAVVO law!

I think the majority of people in the USA will revolt of our government ever tries to use that heavy-handed approach. Until they figure out how the long haul trucks and planes that transport the vast majority of our goods can become all electric, and figure out how to generate enough electricity to charge them all without burning coal and natural gas, then it's just a bunch of short-sighted liberal minded dreams anyway.
