He even invited my wife up to do a preceptorship, but her schedule was just too busy. I just finished reading Dr Bernstein’s book, “ Diabetic Solution “. I’ve had the book since the 90s… it’s a must read book… Dr Bernstein just celebrated his 90th birthday… he’s amazing…..
It's hard to do that and the steps we have taken to get to this point may have never happened. I call it world group think. I know for me I am getting younger everyday.
I think the best we can hope for is the education of individuals who will turn their backs on the propaganda and seek true cures and less harmful treatments. One day the world will look back and see the pharmaceutical industry for what it is and label it barbaric. The unfortunate fact is that many, if not most, unhealthy people do not want to change their diets or exercise.

The "diabetes nurse" at my gp surgery (in the uk) told me my A1c was "very low" at 27 mmol per mole (4.5%). I told her it was exactly where I wanted it to be! I have had type 1 for fifty eight years - normal kidney function, last retinopathy scan was "normal", no neuropathy, and no gastroparesis. I first read Dr Bernatein's book about twenty years ago. I do not follow his dietary recommendations, but aim for normal blood sugars, and avoid high readings like the plague. In the days when I still saw a consultant, he said he thought I was still making some insulin, and I think he might have been right, as I do not find control difficult. Dr Bernstein is a real hero.

This is a legendary interview, found Dr. Bernsteins book 3 years ago and been following his T1D guidelines ever since, a1c down from 7.5-8 to high 4's low 5's, no more gum disease and scary lows or fear over long-term complications.
He had several examples confirming how proper nutrition information stays hidden. It is amazing how long this information has existed, but not been publicized.
I was pre diabetic with an A1C of 7.9 when I discovered this doc on UA-cam. I listen to him all the time. I am now over 80% carnivore. I owe a great deal to this fine man and to Dr. Baker.

And Hashimoto’s starting in university. He got T3 different than patients are treated now by being put on T4, which often doesn’t convert to active T3.
If I was allergic to nuts, I wouldn't eat nuts. If I was allergic to dairy, I wouldn't eat dairy. If I couldn't process sugar properly, I wouldn't eat sugar. Diabetes is like being allergic to sugar.
Nina Toicholz did “Big Fat Suprise” and Gary Taubes did “ Good Calorie Bad Calories” but very similar books must have been corresponding. Both best sellers doesn’t matter on bit.
I found Dr. Bernstein through one of Shawn's videos a few months back. I'm reading his book "The Diabetes Solution" now, and working on transitioning my T1 son over to his protocol. I'm so thankful I found him through this channel.
Good luck to you and your son. I'm T1, follow the Bernstein regimen, and my most recent A1c was 4.5%. The best thing about following the Bernstein regimen is the peace of mind. I hardly ever have to worry about hypoglycemia, and I never have to worry about hyperglycemia. Eg. the lowest my BG has been today was 72mg/dL, and the highest my BG has been today was 102mg/dL.
I’ve been hoping for this video. Bernstein is an icon. If there were any justice in this world, he would have streets and parks named after him and fifty doctors shadowing him in the clinic to learn his methods. But, his methods would put the ADA out of business.

Just think of all the people who have suffered with diabetes, lost mobility, health, lost limbs, eye sight, etc because doctors don't address this correctly. Thinking of this leaves me angry. So many lives ruined, and so many people miserable because of greed. This is wrong, evil! It is unexceptionable that individuals haven't been educated and given a choice on how they want to live and treat their condition, on why they have this condition. We have lost friends, relatives, and family members because of this institutional malpractice.

Absolutely brilliant conversation Shawn. Dr Bernstein's experience fighting the "system" shows us just how totally screwed we are by the corruption of the corporate-medical cabal. It took almost a hundred years to get to this point and I'm afraid it will take another 100 years to reverse, if we'll survive that long as a species given the direction of our population's health. I am full carnivore and at 76, have cured everything and am trying to spread the word. Uphill battle!

What an unsung national treasure this doc is in the treatment of diabetes. It just isn't right that $$$ is given a higher priority than the well-being of others. My T1 niece was given the ADA protocol and basically was told to eat what she wants and adjust her insulin. A young friend, also T1 is waiting on a kidney transplant. It infuriates me!

We caught my son’s type 1 diabetes early enough that we were able to preserve the function of a significant portion of his beta cells. He is 3+ years post diagnosis and can still go weeks without insulin. We accomplished this by going low carb/AIP one month after diagnosis. Thanks to Dr. Bernstein we went low carb even though mainstream diabetes doctors recommended high carb! My kiddo also takes some supplements to help restore impaired biochemical pathways (ie: supplementing with methylated folate to restore the biochemical pathway impaired by the mthfr mutation)
That's awesome! Keep at it, and consider viewing Dr. Berg here on YT for more ideas on staving off a T1 dx. I've been at this for over 35 years and wish I'd known what is known today. My goal is to optimize and eventually reverse T1...as some carnivores have done.

So amazing how long he has been fighting the fight, not only for himself, but others. My father died of a diabetes related complication 21 years ago, he suffered so long but wouldn't change anything. (uncontrolled T2) After he passed I began watching my glucose and researching, eventually leading me to carnivore. I have tried to share his books and articles with T1 diabetics for so long, no one will ever listen. They choose to listen to their doctor's "nutritionist" who advise 100 carbs per meal and cover it with insulin. 🙄 Seems like the diabetes world is cultish also. Type 1 diabetic for 51 years and carnivore for almost 4 years! I have no other metabolic issues. I use an average of 18 units daily and my HbA1C is 5.3. I'm planning on making it to 103. I used those first strips with water. There were no lancet devices. You had to manually poke your finger and use a pipette to put blood on the strip. Fabulous work Dr. Bernstein! Thank you for your perseverance!
"What if you're right and they're wrong," perfectly sums up the life of Dr. Bernstein. What an absolute legend. To pursue a life in medicine as a second career in order to validate your hypothesis is truely remarkable.
Dr. Bernstein was the one that introduced me to the low-carb diet for the first time, back in 2016 when I was diagnosed with T2D. If not for him, I would snack on chocolates all day long, and by now probably being blind and amputated. Dr. Bernstein essentially saved my life, and much more others lives. He deserves every respect for fighting the system and insisting on the truth he knows.
It's amazing how a simple thing like diet can have such a profound effect, yet people won't do it or won't believe it. I have been T1D a relatively short time and almost completely cut out grains and processed sugars (the main carb offenders) to reduce synthetic insulin use. My last A1C reading was 4.6.
Dr. Bernstein is still contributing to society at a high level at 89 years of age. The fact that he is still open minded is impressive. What is discouraging ate the medical professionals that can close their minds to low carb diets, and normal blood sugar levels for their diabetic patients.

I try to tell people their "good doctors" might be using them as an ATM machine. An acquaintance of mine had to be hospitalized because his sugar dropped to 30. When he was released he said the doctor told him to keep his sugar levels around 140. I told him that was keeping him in the diabetic range and it should be more around 75-80. Unfortunately we know which advice he's going to follow. Over ten years ago I asked my doctor if sugar causes diabetes and he said no and gave me this long explanation why it didn't. I listened politely and fired him after almost 30 years because I realized he was very incompetent. He rode that believe to the grave because he died about 8 years ago at 61 from uncontrolled diabetes 😫 I have several family members and friends who are diabetic and the anmount of sugar and carbs they eat is scary. I try to convince them that all the sugar they keep eating is making a bad problem worse and they tell me they have to eat that way to keep up their sugar. I try to tell them eating healthy food will keep up their sugar also, but sadly they listen to their doctors who is giving them permission to eat all the tasty sugary food they want. The sad and crazy part is they keep wondering why they feel so awful and have no energy 😢 thanks for having this wonderful doctor on your podcast I totally enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this interview & although I'm not a diabetic- I just purchased Dr Bernstein's book & look forward to reading it. Most of my extended family either passed from fatty liver or type 2 diabetes complications... which is why I'm carnivore.

Having a TMJ issue this week. Jaw hurts unable to eat. In pain and distress. Fasted since Sat. BG has been over 100 whole time as high as 150 from the distress! Right now BG 115, no food for days. Ketone level 1.9.
Dr. Baker, that was a very interesting interview with Dr. Berstein! I have never listened to him before, very knowledgable. And it is very awesome that he is still seeing patients and so sharp at age 89! But that goes to show how people should be that sharp at age 89 if barely eating any carbs, or zero carbs all together! Hope to see many current carnivores be as active and sharp as Dr. Berstein when we all hit age 89 and older! That also goes to show that what i call early retirement isn’t for carnivores! We are healthier and sharp at older ages, so the retirement age could move to a much later age. ☺️👍🏻 I am good with that! Keeps people busy, physically active, alert, and engaged! Why not work longer! Now that we see it’s plant toxins and processed plants foods that are causing early aging with humans, forcing early retirement, a new retirement age needs to be set for carnivores! If mentally sharp and physically capable to work, and choose to, why not keep working. ☺️👍🏻 That’s my plan. I am too much of a busy body. Age 47 and I may work to 90 too, or later, who knows. I totally agree. My grandfather lived to 100 and worked in the hot sun plowing fields into his late 70's early 80s. He fell apart after the family convinced him he had work long enough and should retire and move to the city where he sat around all day watching TV 😭

It is unexceptionable that individuals haven't been educated and given a choice on how they want to live and treat their condition, on why they have this condition. We have lost friends, relatives, and family members because of this institutional malpractice.

This man is a legend, enormous respect for him. That said, I can't say I share his optimism for lab grown meat knowing how the food and drug industry operate.

Absolutely brilliant conversation Shawn. Dr Bernstein's experience fighting the "system" shows us just how totally screwed we are by the corruption of the corporate-medical cabal. It took almost a hundred years to get to this point and I'm afraid it will take another 100 years to reverse, if we'll survive that long as a species given the direction of our population's health. I am full carnivore and at 76, have cured everything and am trying to spread the word. Uphill battle!

What an unsung national treasure this doc is in the treatment of diabetes. It just isn't right that $$$ is given a higher priority than the well-being of others. My T1 niece was given the ADA protocol and basically was told to eat what she wants and adjust her insulin. A young friend, also T1 is waiting on a kidney transplant. It infuriates me!

Researchers involved in an atherosclerosis study in monkeys knew that their research was " spun", yet published it. The Senior researcher ended up at a job at NIH. So, the struggle for Truth has been going on for decades.

But we not have hope of reversing his insulin resistance and working towards normal A1Cs. You have given us hope that we can grow old together! Thank you and God Bless you!
We caught my son’s type 1 diabetes early enough that we were able to preserve the function of a significant portion of his beta cells. He is 3+ years post diagnosis and can still go weeks without insulin. We accomplished this by going low carb/AIP one month after diagnosis. Thanks to Dr. Bernstein we went low carb even though mainstream diabetes doctors recommended high carb! My kiddo also takes some supplements to help restore impaired biochemical pathways (ie: supplementing with methylated folate to restore the biochemical pathway impaired by the mthfr mutation)
That's awesome! Keep at it, and consider viewing Dr. Berg here on YT for more ideas on staving off a T1 dx. I've been at this for over 35 years and wish I'd known what is known today. My goal is to optimize and eventually reverse T1...as some carnivores have done.

Thank you for this interview, you did a great job. I've been reading his books for over 20 years. So much respect for him. So amazing how long he has been fighting the fight, not only for himself, but others. My father died of a diabetes related complication 21 years ago, he suffered so long but wouldn't change anything. (uncontrolled T2) After he passed I began watching my glucose and researching, eventually leading me to carnivore. I have tried to share his books and articles with T1 diabetics for so long, no one will ever listen. They choose to listen to their doctor's "nutritionist" who advise 100 carbs per meal and cover it with insulin. 🙄
Seems like the diabetes world is cultish also. They believe nothing outside their opinions.

Type 1 diabetic for 51 years and carnivore for almost 4 years! I have no other metabolic issues. I use an average of 18 units daily and my HbA1C is 5.3. I'm planning on making it to 103. I used those first strips with water. There were no lancet devices. You had to manually poke your finger and use a pipette to put blood on the strip.

"What if you're right and they're wrong," perfectly sums up the life of Dr. Bernstein. What an absolute legend. To pursue a life in medicine as a second career in order to validate your hypothesis is truely remarkable.
A true modern day hero: Dr R Bernstein
Dr. Bernstein was the one that introduced me to the low-carb diet for the first time, back in 2016 when I was diagnosed with T2D. If not for him, I would snack on chocolates all day long, and by now probably being blind and amputated. Dr. Bernstein essentially saved my life, and much more others lives. He deserves every respect for fighting the system and insisting on the truth he knows.
It's amazing how a simple thing like diet can have such a profound effect, yet people won't do it or won't believe it. I have been T1D a relatively short time and almost completely cut out grains and processed sugars (the main carb offenders) to reduce synthetic insulin use. My last A1C reading was 4.6.

Dr. Bernstein is still contributing to society at a high level at 89 years of age. The fact that he is still open minded is impressive. What is discouraging ate the medical professionals that can close their minds to low carb diets, and normal blood sugar levels for their diabetic patients.

Just found this video. Finally someone goes to the source for the best diabetes info. NO one else out there can speak to Dr. Bernstein's experience. At least haven't found them, and I've been at this since type 1 diagnoses in 1997. His book put me on the right path, and no endo I've ever seen has recommended what I do in 27 years. Not one. Good on you Shawn for doing this interview. I imagine you're the first of the "new" carnivore guys to do this.

I try to tell people their "good doctors" might be using them as an ATM machine. An acquaintance of mine had to be hospitalized because his sugar dropped to 30. When he was released he said the doctor told him to keep his sugar levels around 140. I told him that was keeping him in the diabetic range and it should be more around 75-80. Unfortunately we know which advice he's going to follow. Over ten years ago I asked my doctor if sugar causes diabetes and he said no and gave me this long explanation why it didn't. I listened politely and fired him after almost 30 years because I realized he was very incompetent. He rode that believe to the grave because he died about 8 years ago at 61 from uncontrolled diabetes 😫 I have several family members and friends who are diabetic and the anmount of sugar and carbs they eat is scary. I try to convince them that all the sugar they keep eating is making a bad problem worse and they tell me they have to eat that way to keep up their sugar. I try to tell them eating healthy food will keep up their sugar also, but sadly they listen to their doctors who is giving them permission to eat all the tasty sugary food they want. The sad and crazy part is they keep wondering why they feel so awful and have no energy 😢 thanks for having this wonderful doctor on your podcast I totally enjoyed it.

I enjoyed this interview & although I'm not a diabetic- I just purchased Dr Bernstein's book & look forward to reading it. Most of my extended family either passed from fatty liver or type 2 diabetes complications... which is why I'm carnivore.

Having a TMJ issue this week. Jaw hurts unable to eat. In pain and distress. Fasted since Sat. BG has been over 100 whole time as high as 150 from the distress! Right now BG 115, no food for days. Ketone level 1.9.
TMJ thing went away quick. No recurrence.
I just Love dr Bernstein. The only doctor I listen to. A - Type one diabetic.

Dr. Baker, that was a very interesting interview with Dr. Berstein! I have never listened to him before, very knowledgable. And it is very awesome that he is still seeing patients and so sharp at age 89! But that goes to show how people should be that sharp at age 89 if barely eating any carbs, or zero carbs all together!
Hope to see many current carnivores be as active and sharp as Dr. Berstein when we all hit age 89 and older! That also goes to show that what i call early retirement isn’t for carnivores! We are healthier and sharp at older ages, so the retirement age could move to a much later age. ☺️👍🏻 I am good with that! Keeps people busy, physically active, alert, and engaged! Why not work longer! Now that we see it’s plant toxins and processed plants foods that are causing early aging with humans, forcing early retirement, a new retirement age needs to be set for carnivores! If mentally sharp and physically capable to work, and choose to, why not keep working. ☺️👍🏻 That’s my plan. I am too much of a busy body. Age 47 and I may work to 90 too, or later, who knows. Time will tell.

I totally agree. My grandfather lived to 100 and worked in the hot sun plowing fields into his late 70's early 80s. He fell apart after the family convinced him he had work long enough and should retire and move to the city where he sat around all day watching TV 😭
