I just realized that I don’t think I know a single person who is really good at guitar and ALSO really good at drums. They are always mutually exclusive in my experience for whatever reason. I can tell from that one clip that you have actual drum chops. So yeah, uh, nice!
Dustin Davidson from August Burns Red plays bass, guitar, and screams during their live shows and can also play/write drums for their albums. He can do it all
I loved hearing the drums first because I was filling it in with a guitar riff in my head and it is so interesting to see how different what my minds eye and your minds eye came up with!
Happi Thick Drums Thursdaay my Niiib, huuge surprise to see you playing drums! For me, that sounds like "Make Total Destroy" by Purriphery with Loathe vibes...
Just came across your channel the other day, and love it. I've been spending too much time - for awhile now - getting lost in programming drums for an entire song that doesn't melodically exist, and then wanting to make some new-ass stuff on guitar to accompany the idea I made percussively, but never actually doing it. I overthink it. This doesn't help me out, cause your tone separates you from everyone I've ever heard, including Josh Travis. But it's great to see you doing it in your own process, in a daily format for UA-cam and stuff, constantly pushing yourself to create and create. Also it's most brutal to hear that sound coming out of a Strat
Sounds a little like if Loathe rewrote Dispossession by Northlane or just old school NL vibes in general. Great music and insights as always dude! Love your stuff.
you can add low latency mode up top by the metronome on and off you click customize then check low latency or add the freeze button to all the tracks!!!
Could you make a video more specific with drums? Its amazing to see it man, maybe you could show the differences with quantization on/off and showing the ghost notes
Yeah, something about those slided first notes and bass/guitar tone sound familiar. I am getting new Tesseract vibes. A blend between The Grey & that pre-interlude section in Legion
Nick, question. I bought the exact same ekit. It'll be delivered tomorrow. With the hi hat.. did you have to map individual hihat hits to open, mid closed, closed and then just pedal hits? Like do you have to map all of them in GGD for it to work and sound the way you wanted? I hope this question makes sense. Thanks man!
This one rips hard! :) Maybe try and see if you can lower the threshold for the kick pad to stop triggering the kick's "ghost notes" you were talking about. It might stop triggering when you play below for example 60 (of 127) Hope this helps!
Question: curious as why you program bass when I know you have a bass guitar you could lay down? More consistency? Hate playing bass? LOVE your content @nickbroomhall 🍻😎
It sounds original, but it reminds me of Colombian faction from volumes with more energy. Your programming is incredible but I love seein you play the drums. I’ve been wanting to do this as well. How hard is it to map GGD to this? Can you track it the same way as a guitar with neural dsp or is it just midi that you program after? This is awesome thank you.
I think you might be sitting a bit low and too far forward for the bass drum pedal, so you've got less control over the pedal, but also you can adjust the drum trigger sensitivity to reduce the false triggers
I get some Whitechapel, "The Saw is Law" vibes as far as the riff is concerned. Also sounds kinda similar to your last video where u demoed Djinn Bass. Either way, love your stuff man. 🤘
Strat riff has so much "The Saw Is The Law" vibe behind it, I love it
Loathe AF!! 🔥🔥🔥
Nick PLEAAAAASE make a video of your GGD routing to the EKit
Pls Nick
It's like a Loathe song mixed with After the Burial and Meshuggah
My thoughts also!
dude that’s exactly what i was thinking too haha
I wasn't going to watch until I saw this comment.
i just hit 'Command + S' at 4:39. That's how you know it's a good fill 😂
I just realized that I don’t think I know a single person who is really good at guitar and ALSO really good at drums. They are always mutually exclusive in my experience for whatever reason. I can tell from that one clip that you have actual drum chops. So yeah, uh, nice!
Thanks so much! Definitely still a bit rusty, gotta keep practicing 💪

last thursday feels like it was a month ago
that guitar tone sounds so much like loathe its crazy
Thick Groove Thursday
Tone-wise, sounds like Loathe, but god that riff is giving me The Saw Is The Law vibes. Love the video, keep em coming!
The riff reminds me of The Saw Is The Law by Whitechapel! But damn that tone was dirty af, the strat tone is insane 😮
WHERE WE COME FROM THE SAW IS THE LAW
sick drum kit man, now you’ve gotta get a double pedal!
Happi Thick Drums Thursdaay my Niiib, huuge surprise to see you playing drums!
For me, that sounds like "Make Total Destroy" by Purriphery with Loathe vibes...
Absolute inspiration of a man

*The Saw Is the Law*, bro. Love it!
That tone really is insane man
One day, Nick will be in focus.
But today is not that day. Thanks, Panasonic
Sounds a little like if Loathe rewrote Dispossession by Northlane or just old school NL vibes in general.
Great music and insights as always dude! Love your stuff.
Was going to say Dispossesion as well!
Alright, now we gotta see how you set this up with the P:V Kit!
I was a drummer before I was a guitarist and I actually track like this often.
Sounds like a periphery riff so muchh
I think im gettin a e kit too. Im dreaming of this for years now. So much more creativity and speed.. dope videos bro!
Nick.is.sick
How do you get that guitar tone? love the sound
I also would love to know this.
Stick Riff Thursday 🤘🏻
This is sick dude, well done.
Congratulations on a new device that will move you further towards the rockstar level! 🎉
How to create this sick guitar tone? Sounds awesome
you can add low latency mode up top by the metronome on and off you click customize then check low latency or add the freeze button to all the tracks!!!
Nice!!!
love the groove on this one 🔥
Find that false kick drum trigger read on my MIDI drums with my E-Kit a lot, as well as other E-kits I've recorded with.
how did you get that guitar tone ?
mmmmmmmmm it do be thick this thursday
It does remind me a lot of the song "The Saw is the Law" from Whitechapel, but awesome sounding riff man...
I think the riff you're thinking of is Disposession by Northlane haha.
Riff came out sounding PHAT. Good work dude.
writing a riff starting with bass next?
Thick rifffff 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Could you make a video more specific with drums? Its amazing to see it man, maybe you could show the differences with quantization on/off and showing the ghost notes
Reminds me a lot of "the saw is the law" by whitechapel. Sick video as always man!!
After the burial played on a 6 string!
For some reason i do this. i have a riff idea and i program basic drums, then i do guitar, then back to drums.
Its giving a bit of Ragnarok by periphery... but its not the riff im thinking of. I will keep searching!
Nick, please we want the single coil guitar tones xD
(even though none of us probably have strats)
Sounds a bit like Whitechapel Saw Is The Law, the kit and guitar tone are thick!
If Loathe wrote Saw Is the Law!
Yeah, something about those slided first notes and bass/guitar tone sound familiar.
I am getting new Tesseract vibes. A blend between The Grey & that pre-interlude section in Legion
Yo, I gotta know what plugin you used to pitch shift the strat and make it sound like that
Insanely talented, Nick!
Thanks, man!
heavy Parazit vibes from this. fk yea

How you make guitar go boom?
Whammy pedal 🙌
Watching you press your stick to the R button makes me laugh dude, that’s me at my Ekit too!
Usually I'd use Logic Remote but my phone was getting my video 😂
This sounds so much like Periphery. Kinda close to Wildfire only slowed down.
You need a new pc my guy. As always sick video. Always look forward to these after a long service and cleaning the fryer
What kind of buffer are you running when recording the kit ?
What are your specs on your Mac?
What do you use to pitch the guitar down?
I use a DigiTech Whammy!
Drum into sounds like wildfire
Brother what drums are these? They sound fantastic
Question: curious as why you program bass when I know you have a bass guitar you could lay down? More consistency? Hate playing bass? LOVE your content @nickbroomhall 🍻😎
I love playing bass! I prefer to program when I think it'll fit the production of the riff better, usually the heavier/lower stuff!
Interesting! Thanks so much for the reply! Keep up the sick riffs! 🤘😎🤘
I think it sounds similar for me to "Meridian" by Unprocessed and the general vibe of the entire album that the song is from

Never mind lol
I get some Ragnorak vibe by periphery
Sounds like a Dayshell riff! Its the band the clean singer from of mice and men started. Similar heavy bounce to his riffs! Check him out mna
Major Loathe vibes. So fuckin dirty. Nice work as always.
Sounds like The Bad Thing by Periphery
I think you might be sitting a bit low and too far forward for the bass drum pedal, so you've got less control over the pedal, but also you can adjust the drum trigger sensitivity to reduce the false triggers
At the beginning I thought it was Wildfire cover xD
I get some Whitechapel, "The Saw is Law" vibes as far as the riff is concerned. Also sounds kinda similar to your last video where u demoed Djinn Bass. Either way, love your stuff man. 🤘
To me it sounds kind of like periphery rainbow gravity
You are my idol Nick🫶🏼
Thick riff? More like thick QUIFF am I right?
This is reminiscent of a Doom soundtrack.
Sounds like metamorphosis by northlane, still sick though!
Whitechapel - The Saw is the law
not a rip off at all, but gives me polaris-consume vibes
Tone similar to Jinjer.
Northlane vibes
Sounds like Meshuggah to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Everything is Meshuggah
@nickbroomhallmusic Meshuggah is everything Id say
The intro is similar to Ragnarok, but I don't think you ripped off Periphery
my thoughts exactly. plus the drums kinda reminds me of SnowBlood by ERRA
where is your hat sir
Collab with Nik Nocturnal! That would be sick af
I think you're ripping off The Only Thing They Fear is You from Doom Eternal.
Did you use it to connect midi to a drum software?
Yes, I'm triggering the GetGood Drums PV kit!
