This. I don't think anyone is bashing the ESL for making a mistake. They are questioning why someone who is ESL is in charge of the ENGLISH account to begin with.
They're treating being ESL as an excuse or something (?). No, corporations don't get a pass for "minor mistakes". Those mistakes can have huge consequences. "What's the big deal? We just accidentally put the decimal point one spot further to the right on our earnings report. It's a simple little mistake."
Yeah, people are simply braindead. Companies have a lot of resources and responsibilities, their processes MUST include actual checks and reviewing before publishing (as well as a lot of other steps in their processes to ensure correct result AND quick fixes if not).
If you use almost free labor of interns and highschoolers - fine, put someone responsible to check them, because they WILL fuck up a lot, so the review process becomes even more crucial.
But instead they just pretend having business processes, stalling projects with idiotic approval pipelines, nice. Yeah, sure, talents are bad, that's why nothing is done, other companies just have better more complaint talents, that's why they have more events/projects/community involvement/stream diversity, we are not to blame FOR SURE.

I have worked in the translation industry for over ten years and know that mistakes can happen, as we are all human. However, that's why it's important to hire professionals who make fewer errors and improve the quality of the translation by employing proofreaders and editors.
If your billion-dollar company is struggling with its budget, consider crowdfunding to raise funds, even if it means sacrificing some of its dignity.
It's not really about the mistake happening, even native English speaker manage to make such mistakes. The issue is with them not even bothering to fix it after it was pointed out.

Even a high-school-level ESL speaker proficient enough to get a job using English should know how to spell a introductory word like "Congratulations" and understand R/L differences.

Bae literally would Bruh at Nijisanji. Like do you know why Mario Kart for Hololive tournament is successful? They are consistent. Every year. They have different contestants. Every year same event but different possibilities. Nijisanji thinking doing this will make them succeed. Little do they realise Hololive succeed because they know they are nothing without the talents. Not telling the talents they are nothing without the company.
The problem with spelling/grammar errors is that a JP/EN translator should be held to a higher standard. They should have seen the typo beforehand or quickly solved it afterwards. They represent Nijisanji, both to the Livers and the fanbase. The problem isn't a bilingual person made a mistake, its a EN/JP translator that represents the Nijisanji's EN branch made a mistake. Nijisanji can't get quality translators, if they're hiring minimum-wage college students.

there's a reason why Translators need to be 'fluent' and can't just throw things into google translate like the rest of us do. All these people saying 'oh you're yelling at highschoolers for making a mistake' are missing the point. Obviously these were not people that were qualified to do the job to begin with, nor were they trained by the company. That's not on them, that's on the company.
This is ultimately a small "issue" if it weren't for the fact that: this is a large company, it has quite a few English as a first language employees, and put out job postings for nonprofessional high school students for less than minimum wage. A small issue like this is simply bad management, and the supporter responses are delusional.
The reason they want high schoolers and college students is because in a lot of countries you don't have to pay students minimum/full wage since it counts as a part-time job as long as they're students.
I live in a country with pretty good labor laws, and even here some companies refuse to hire part-timers who aren't students because then they have to pay them more than the students

I get they're high schoolers, but it's one word... and I don't mean "oh, they only messed up one word", I mean they messed up the only notable word on the whole image.
The problem is that yes while it is human to make spelling mistakes, the actual spelling mistake should have never been released in the first placw bc these kinda things need to go through multiple checks. It beşng published basically says no additional checks are happening and therefore no one is actually proofreading or managing. We’re human and can make mistakes, thats why proofreaders exist. That’s why editors and supervisors etc. exist. a million dollar company not having supervisors and editors is wierd. not only is it wierd for the audience but its also wierd for the translators themselves.

Well… do they really have a choice? Cause before Selen, Niji denied or least no to the talents until to the absolute limit. However, it’s far too late after Selen drama to repair the damages. Hell even Pomu and Kyo left for their own reasons.
It is a last ditch effort to “regain” the fans’ trust and community. Sure they are doing it fast before Q4, whatever that term is, and get money. Sadly, they may have no choice but either admit their loss on EN or the Company as whole; Merge EN to JP. Or release a PR statement through UA-cam video. But this time with Riku and the EN Livers. At least reasonable with the fans instead of investors.

Plain and simple reason why they're plugging a huge range of things is that they are throwing everything they have that could make money into April. The Q3 financial report from the EN side was so bad it tanked the stock prices as much as it legally could *overnight* if the Q4 revenue isn't significantly better they risk doing the same thing over when it's released in June / July. They can't afford that.
Not to mention that the Q4 financial report will show all the effects of the entire Selen drama. They're literally being desperate right now

The thing with the spelling error is that at this point niji cant do anything without scrutiny even if it was a good thing people will be mad so you have to keep it squeaky clean and when something small like this happens people quickly trace the problem back to a public issue like the hiring of high schoolers

I did work as a digital marketing designer, even if it was an internship, the client would get mad if we had any spelling errors . Worse if our manager/ boss / colleges find out about the issue. So possibly when the post was out , nobody was there to check it or , they placed the wrong file + didn't recheck it . Yep , a huge uh-oh
Do be reminded of that , most posts/ content need to be accurate as possible as it helps a company or someone to attract more people , so if someone does something wrong it would 100% be noticed by possible new clients/investors.

The spelling itself isn't that bad, but their hiring practices are pretty bad. They're hiring an underpaid part-time high schooler, but the job requires fluency in multiple languages and managing the front-facing public relations of a multi-billion-dollar company.
I feel like this is more of a reference to the NES Ghostbuster game. It's the only other time I've seen it spelled like this. AVGN has a great skit about it.

Using ESL as an excuse for an employee doing PR work for a global company not being fluent in english is fine to me. The problem is not having someone who can proofread before it was posted. The social media person for an English branch of the company not being able to double check their own work quality is the problem. Just hire an english speaker, a naturalised foreigner maybe. Its not like they are very rare in Japan, some even become popular musicians/comedians/actors/models there, not to mention the countless foreign english teachers.

As someone who is bilingual, I can get why these kinds of mistakes happen, I get where they come from and back in the days in school, I probably fucked up multiple times too, but on the other hand, Im not working for a Multi-Billion dollar company to translate stuff from german into english, or vice-versa. All Im gonna say to this mistake is the following: Conglatulations, this will be negligible.
Gen Z is very forgiving of spelling errors because they didn't exist in a time before autocorrect and couldn't spell to save their lives if they had to physically write an essay on paper. But the fact of the matter is, when you are a big company like Nijisanji, and you put out an official company post, you have to spell things right or it makes your company look sloppy and unprofessional.
I appreciate how you stay kind of detached from these sh*t storms. You don’t get too up-in-arms about silly stuff

I have to ask does anyone else feel weird watching Niji tubers now? Like I get it I'm all about punishing the company not the individual talent (with some exceptions), but I don't know it just feels like there's this giant elephant in the room every time I watch someone I like stream.

This reminds me of an Angry Video Game Nerd review of Ghostbusters on NES. I kid you not, at the end of the game, there’s a text that reads, “CONGLATURATIONS !!! You have completed a GREAT GAME. And PROOVED the justice of our culture. Now go and rest our heroes.”
Even if it were a high school student that they hired, R/L differences are part of spelling and punctuation 101 *especially* for an A1-Elementary-level word like "Congratulations." This just tells me that not only are they cheaping-out by hiring high school kids, but they're not even vetting them properly.
The actual issue is not the spelling mistake, but how it is being handled by the company and their shady hiring practices don’t help either. I can’t understand why anyone is still defending Nijisanji’s incompetence in managing their company.

that oh no human beings make mistakes post makes me angry because the company that makes tons of money and could easily pay for a translator and a proofreader to do these things as a professional company, hiring kids at the lowest pay is some of the most half-ass things I have ever seen and I am ex-military and have seen some pretty half-ass shit, that is why any time I see a company doing something more half-assed then a military person can I view that company as a complete joke and do not take that company seriously
People are not making fun of ESL people... people are making fun of a company that doesn't gauge the proper minimum requirements for what should be expected for a multi-billion dollar company to hire competent staff. How these people are so keen on trying to spin a narrative is beyond help.
