You completely skip over the events of StarCraft I; Artanis is the player character for the original game's Protoss campaign, and a major character in Brood War's campaign. His actions in the first game set the stage for him becoming Heirarch; when his mentor, Tassadar, went against the will of the Conclave, Artanis was promoted to Executor and tasked with the arrest of his former teacher. However, instead of arresting him as originally commanded, he sided with him (kind of foolish of the Conclave when you think about it, sending someone who would have personal feelings about the matter to arrest Tassadar), and learned that Tassadar had befriended some of the Dark Templar, and learned to use their powers in tandem with those of the Khala. This ultimately saved the Protoss as it allowed them to destroy the Overmind- which Tassadar destroyed at the cost of his own life.
The only two protoss with both the Khalai and the Nerazim trusted enough to lead them both as one people were Tassadar- who couldn't take up the job on account of being dead- and his protege, the young Executor Artanis. So after a few years of an alliance that threatened to fall apart if they did not have a leader they could both follow, Artanis took up the reigns and became the Heirarch of the Daelam, and planned to use the liberation of Aiur as a way to permanently reunite the two tribes on their homeworld of Aiur... Which brings us to the start of Legacy of the Void.
Came here hoping the video would include the events of SC1. Thank you.
Did you know that Amon is actually just how a Jamaican guy says hi?
+Treesicle Objection! StarCraft launched in 1998 (BroodWars followed it up in 1999), it was using the WarCraft 2 engine during the Beta phase when it was ANNOUNCED at E3 1996!
Of course, StarCraft started out life as a WarHammer 40,000 licensed title, but that fell through quickly so things got retooled and made into a new universe (which was derided as simply "Warcraft in Space" at E3 1996).
Did you know England is the incorrect term for the UK? :p
ZERG RUSH
potato
+Treesicle Can you please do a Edward Kenway (form AC4BF)or on some of the TF2 mercs.
PS:Love your vids :3
We need a Artanis now...because right now every one is trying to kill each other...
+keagan huff probably a khaas since artanis is unifying everyone of their species against another species. but khaas built something that made universal empathy among their people.
Then we just need to discover our telepathic potential, create a unified mind of humanity, then be visited by squid gods, have this connection severed, go back to beating each other up with swords and spears, then make our own Khala, have a separate faction split off that values individuality, who we exile to Satune's moon Titan, then be attacked by an insectoid race of Xenamorphs, lead by a giant eyeball that hates us all, which is destroyed by a super selfless human, then we reform to retake Earth from the Xenamorphs, then join our other human breathern, some space yokels, and the Xenamorphs to defeat an evil squid god.
You know the first step, buddy. Reject the Khala, sever your nerve cord. UNPLUG FROM THE INTERNET AND DO SHIT!
The Story you never knew, unless you have played the game.
Pete Zahjutt sem
the game's story mode.
I played latter for 6 years before i started playing WoL's story mode xD
the beginning was in the wiki and some books
Game Theory makes Zerg episode
Treesicle makes Protoss episode
Who's gonna make the Terran episode?
deez nutz
+Crick1952 I would, but I ain't ever played starcraft ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
+SCIIRAPTER Of The Starcraft II Tribe or TZHX-9820 lol no offence bro that was a joke by the way.

+Crick1952 Except the game theory was was really shit and you could tell he got most of his info from the wiki, what a shame. its like normies talking about memes.
Treesicle = Three Cycle = 3 Circle = 3 Circle of Life = 3 Semi-Circle of Life = 3 Half Life = *HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED*
+Ultimate Minecraft Player Dun Dun Dun!!!!
GOOD. FUCKING. GOD.
Artanis is the Optimus Prime of the Starcraft universe =))
Adevarat :))
mangks is the donald trump in the starcraft universe
Claudiu Marcu , better than optimus prime lmao. Optimus prime is dogshit right now
Artanis does not even have to lift to be cool... because he wears a f-ing badass power armor the entire time.
Better title: "The Story You Know If You Played the Game"
Artanis is one of the greatest leaders of fiction I have ever met. During playtime of LOTV I was really happy I could finally be in position of someone as Artanis,... I would love to have such a leader in real life - total opposite of current world leaders.
you forgot to mention the temple event with zeratul from brood wars where both used the Uraj and the Khalis to eradicate the zerg threat from shakuras
En taro Zeratul. En taro Tassadar. En taro Fenix.
yee i never understood who the frick was fenix? i played starcraft 1 campaigns, but i just couldnt put it together
+RT FM Too put it in a few words he was Rambo Protoss. One man army. In many... Basically Fenix was THE BEST zealot type fighter in their whole army while being approx 330 years old (~33 in human years). Also friend to both Artanis and Jim Raynor. The guy was mortally injured and ended in Dragoon suit not because he screwed up - his psi-blade emmiters broke and he had to kill hydralisks who ambushed him with bare hands - and after this when in BW he was betrayed by Kerrigan he stood his ground basically an injured veteran against a strongest being in universe at the moment - I mean injured veteran with NO special abilites - when Kerrigan said him to accept his death - he said "Screw you, bitch! I'm dying like a man in a fight!". His robocopy in LotV when called upon is what you can call a demonstration of how badass Fenix was while using just that - military tech and skills.
Zeratul Toridas
+ZombieSC A arudin Zeraltul
En taro Adun!
Thanks for the video. The way Blizzard designed this character in LOTV really gets my spirits up when I consider the story of what he pushed through to unite all. Your analysis was good and your editing was funny. Bravo!
I didn't expect to get a worldview shift while watching youtube videos about starcraft. Great job, guys.
The ending of the "Choir Mind" of the Protoss is one of the greatest tragedies of the StarCraft universe. :(
so much info, this is amazing dude
in spite of all the things they did wrong with Zeratul, they sure did a lot of right with Artanis. It's not only that he respects everyone, it's that everyone respects him for their own reasons. Vorazun sees a strong ally, Alarak a warrior, Talandar, a friend. Artanis isn't nearly as naive as he was back in BW, where he trusted Kerrigan just on her word. I really liked how in Legacy he nearly let her die against the hybrid and only saved her because of the prophecy. And unlike any Protoss before, AND I mean all of them, including all the good guys, he doesn't act without a shred of doubt in himself. In fact, he constantly questions if he is good enough to be a leader, and he is better for it.
Interesting things about Artanis:
his name is Sinatra read from right to left - if you click enough on him in legacy he says "Have you tried saying my namе backwards? There is certain music to it, don't you think?". He was (Not sure if this is canon though) the Protoss executor in the original game. He had a line in BW that went something like "This isn't just Warcraft in space" The same voice actor is the Voice actor for Arthas Menethill in Wrath of the lich king, but not for Artanis in Brood War.
He is legit the only useful scout unit to ever exist.
i never gave a crap about multiplayer in SC and SC2. i just loved the campaigns :p
Artanis is a badass, he fights like a badass, talks like a badass and even gets the other first born to be friends like a badass! He is the kind of guy who says "We must not give up the past nor cling to it like a needy child. We must make progress, but not every change is a good one!" He is not a Progressive nor conservative. He is a healthy balance!
Pornhub....The story you never knew...
Nice one bro, Artanis is my favourite character from starcraft 2
Loved the video! I love Artanis too!!!!!!!!
6:48 LMAO THE FLESHLIGHT>
Artanis is awesome! Thanks! :D

Guys I made a delicious stroganoff while watching this and it's kickass. Thanks for the inspiration.
i always loved their story. hearing it all again still amazes me... that's why i love protoss so much. so noble advanced and honorable. not to mention.. mystical..
Gotta love that fleshlight at 6:50 being touted as the "technological advancement". lol
I learned literally nothing I didn't already learn just from playing the game. This video could literally just be a summary of the cutscenes from it.
this was a really good episode.
Yeah I am gonna try this game. I heard it became free to play, and I love this channel so I watched it.
Huh. Telling everybody to put aside past transgressions/tensions and come together as one to tackle the bigger issues at hand.
Can Artanis please come to Terra now and help us fix our shit? We can't seem to figure it out.
Love how you put m2k's face on the robots.
Artanis started out as a warrior then became a great politician, which is rare in protoss race. A great politician, that's what Artanis is. Jim Raynor is the opposite. He started out as a politic enthusiast but then grew sick of it. He became a cowboy.
The Xel'Naga didnt just walk into the protoss existence, they created the Protoss just as they created every other race in the galaxy and just wanted to watch it evolve into their idea's.
Not in the original lore. In the original lore they merely nurtured the protoss. They didn't even intervene directly like they did with the zerg, afterwards.
They accelerated the Protoss because they thought their evolution was not going fast enough. Because of that the Protoss knew who their gods were. And only Amon and his followers intervened with the Zerg.
Again, not in the original lore. In the original lore the protoss knew who their gods where because they lived among them, but the gods merely guided them.
When the Aeon of Strife began, the Xell naga were disillusioned with their firstborn, and decided to go look for another species, that's when they found the zerg. But unlike with the protoss, they did intervene directly in zerg evolution by creating the overmind to keep the zerg under controll.
The visual puns doe!
man, you are awesome!!!
I don't know if you take requests but you should definitely do Arthas from Warcraft. You know about the "a king never rules my son" and how his horse named Invincible dies and all that stuff.
I knew the Tarren and Protos would really up.
I always though james raynor is that one hero whos carrying starcraft alone for all those years, but at the final year artanis come.
Rohana's introduction.
😂😂😂
"Especially with this bitch in the picture."
Artanis for president!
the dark templar werent banished from aiur, adun sacrificed himself to let them escape hence why the dark templars say en taro adun.
yo i remember not to long ago watching this at 50 k and then check its subs and im like wtf dude 300k already?
BASICALLY, everything you could have gotten actually playing the game, which was what got it its fanbase to begin with.
Your story of the early protoss and the Talderim has an error. Admitedly it's one that goes along well with the PRE Legacy of the void info, but its still not accurate. The Zelnaga at large didn't mess with the protoss uplifting their tech. Amon and his renegades descended from the heavens and messed with the protoss. The Talderim formed and broke off from the protoss in order to follow Amon when the rest of the Protoss saw what a douch he was and rebelled, attracting the attention of the other zel'naga who came in to kick Amon's butt.
Then Amon went off to create the zerg out of the primals and during his revenge of Aiur the zelnaga all fell to war and betrayal between the two races. The overmind survived, but damaged, and the protoss fell into the aeon of strife, forgetting pretty much everything and loosing their grasp on technology. Only the Talderim survived the conflict relatively unscathed.
The talderim aren't pissed at amon because he wants to destroy the universe and is about to get his shot either. They're FURIOUS with him because he promised when the campaign began he was going to forge them into the new zelnaga, his hybrid army we've been scrambling against since that bonus mission WAY BACK in brood wars. When he used the protoss from the Aiur invasion instead of them and gave them alternate marching orders, that was it for a lot of them.
Or maybe some of us, who loved the original starcraft and broodwar, lost interest after Wings of Liberty fucked up the story and the characters.
Which is why I never got Heart of the Swarm or Legacy of the void, nor Diablo 3. Blizzard quality writing has withered over the years.
You could blame it on too many cooks or just simply lost touch.
Hence why videos like these are good for people like me and makes me question why you'd take your time to write such a lengthy comment, saying this video was unnecessary without realizing it actually spawns debates/discussions. Your comment alone proves it.
LucklessCope
I quite realize this, which is why I posted. On both counts. You want the story? Well he got those parts wrong. As for blizzard "ruining" their games, the only thing wrong with SC2 was how they made Kerrigan into Prophesy girl. The rest of it was pretty stellar in characterization storytelling and background building.
You claim the awesomeness of broodwars, and yeah, I liked it too and its the reason I dont like what they did to Kerrigan, but it was also a deeply barebones story. There was so little there even the original writers publicly lamented the game at gamescon.
You claim D3 ruined the series? D1 barely had storytelling and didn't really have characterizations beyond Diablo. D2 changed alot of the tone and added much more storytelling but only 1 more fleshed out character. Ok, D3 was a little cartoony rather than dark and edgy like D1 and D2, but they had a great deal of storytelling, every character had personality and was fleshed out it went into the background of hundreds of things the previous two games gave you glimpses of and left you wondering.
I'm one of those saps who spends time finding all of a video games little lore drops and combing wiki's for anything I missed. I much prefer the story of the game over the quality of the gameplay. Not that there was really a quality drop with Diablo or SC2, just a style change, but the story with the exception of adding prophesy girls, improved as both series went on. Same with WoW, if you ignore cataclysm and Warlords of Draenor.
Devon Stark Starcraft isn't about Kerrigan, she is just a part of it. She and most other characters were pretty much changed along with the story. We both know the story from the originals and up to WoL.
And I wouldn't say starcraft 2 was any less stellar than starcraft, that's debatable and personal opinion.
Not saying d3 ruined the franchise, I'm saying it felt weaker than earlier installments. But it might be due to nostalgia.
Wiki sources tends to go deeper and borrow lore from books and comics rather than just the games.
LucklessCope
I know SC isn't all about Kerrigan. It's just as far as I can tell, until we get to Ouros, the way they changed her was the only failure of the new series. the rest of it was just as good and alot more detailed.
Yeah, wiki's pull from all sources and go alot deeper. When people started whining about how WoL and D3 were ruining the old games I went back and replayed them though. The games got progressively more detailed and less grimdark but the storytelling was about the same or slightly better with all 3 of their series as best I could tell.
I will agree with you though, that most of our disagreements is based on a different approach to nostalgia.
Devon Stark It is definitely matter of nostalgia.
Wing of Liberty was no difference than the original in term of story. Only HOtS where they changed Kerrigan story but the rest was carry from the original starcraft. You could argued that Zeratul prophecy was bad but if we focus purely on Raynor revolution then nothing is difference. Hots is where the ball just drop on every single point.
The Protoss campaign was so much better and added new concept like the purifier and taldirim which add more to the game. However the epilogue drop everything.
Even if you say all of the story was garbage. You still have a campaign that was more enjoyable than the original. The original campaign work like tutorial with few occasional dungeons map. The expansion also serve nothing beside adding new units. Compare to SC2 with the addition like Hyperion, Leviathan, and the Spear of Adun the game was ultimately better.
I would be lying if I say the original was better than the sequel because it wasn't.
I think you should have have mention Tassadar as he was Artanis mentor and he was the one that accepted the Nerazim and requesting Zeratul's help in defeating the zergs. Artanis kind of made Tassadar's mission come true as he was the one that wanted to unify the protoss. Great video though!
and that's the story I (not so proudly) knew
you never mentioned that artanis is in starcraft 1
Where can i watch the comic like video you played in this video
lol i love that m2k refrence
Artanis look like faraon-mummy from the future!
12:28 YES!
Artanis is the true hero of the storm
Artanis, we must raise the spear of adun!
I knew it was something about protoss!! I guess it right!
I had played SC1 and SC2 campain. And i want to say that Artanis have a bigger history and he did something in SC1 BroodWar to earn the executor title. Sorry for bad english.
I love the story of star craft
IM ENTERTAINED =D
I just played through Halo 1 again and I made the same observation. Covenent=Protoss The Flood=Zerg

Artanis is a cosmic badass.
Love dis
Full StarCraft lore video? Tree?
Go Artanis.
Bless your freeedom.
You should do a story you never knew of the Cursed Undead in the Dark Souls series
that moment when you already knew the story.
lol i also had the moment of knowing more xD
5:45 Man, I wish I was Protoss!
The Story you never knew....... until you told us yesterday.
I thought the Koprulu sector only encompasses Terran space... Kerrigan definitely left the Koprulu sector in HotS, if I remember right.
Turns out the accelerator of the protoss was A JAMAICAN HI!
Can I just point out the fact that all of that shitstorm was happening only in Koprulu sector and other sectors didn't give a single one. Only Earth decided to have a look but their shit got rekt and Earth is possibly still waiting for UED to return, so there is a possible new StarCraft expansion coming out.
Hey Treesicle, will you ever do a The Story You Never Knew on any of the Warhammer 40k universe?
soo, the campaign and some anylysis
I missed twig Artanis in a Scout ship.
Artanis Prime
I knew the story you said i never knew :p
At least I took time and enjoyed the wonderful campaign
Nice video... bro
"They are like Insects" starts his comparison by bringing up "Slimy tentacles"
Whatever that was still entertaining.
your videos are great and very well edited keep up the great work!
Wher are does cutscenes from ?
But see, Artanis WAS lifting. He took on a hybrid primal Kerrigan, who is more powerful than evil Kerrigan, who kicked the combined asses of both Tassadar and Zeratul, struggled with.
En taro Artanis!
You know, the Zerg and Protoss would never have been a problem for Terrans past the time the first game took place in -- if Mengsk had not extinguished the Confederacy. The Confederacy had been developing the psi emitters and distuptors for near a decade before the game took place as their plan to dealing with the Zerg and Protoss they were aware of from long range probes and expeditions. This would have allowed them to bend the Zerg to their will and take out their enimies, then allowing them to sweep in to a weakened Zerg race and exterminate -- most of them.
You failed to realize that the Confederacy was already corrupted from within, and was doomed to fall eventually. Heck, if it wasn't because the corrupted politicians wanted Mengsk's family dead then Mengsk would not have bothered forming the Sons of Korhal and later the Terran Dominion in the first place.
SSSSSTTOOOOPP bein so AWESOME
En Taro Artanis!
The story I wish I never knew
cool, game theory just did a video on this game too, nerdin out woooo.
The guy already looked like Optimus
13:25 lol m2k
98% of this video is pretty much story line content - common knowledge.
