Objectives: - Retrieve the MacGuffin Crystal OR - Damage the Overmind but don't hurt it too bad. We don't want to actually kill it, just knock it unconscious for a bit.
I have a theory why Zeratul didn't do it. Zeratul: really? I mean I can just kill it? Give me and my brothers enough distraction and BOOM! No moar overmind Kerrigan: Actually that is a win for me too... Artanis: Wow... I never thought about it like that! Zeratul we depend on you! Zeratul kills the Overmind but then... Kerrigan: HAHAHAHAH! AT LAST THE OVERMIND IS DEAD! NOW I CAN TAKE OVER THE ZERG SWARM!!!!!! NOW I NO LONGER NEED ANY OF YOU! DIEEEEE!!!!! (With the infant Overmind slain leaving most of the zergs all over the Char feral, Kerrigan quickly assimilated them into her control. She quickly betrayed Artanis and Zeratul and killed them all along with their brethrens) Probably that's why Zeratul didn't volunteered to do it.
I actually came up with a theory myself: The idea is to pacify the zerg near the Overmind so they can easily slip in and grab the Khalis. What if they're concerned that outright killing the Overmind might have the OPPOSITE effect, and send them all into a feral frenzy?
It might also be because Zeratul is still suspicious of Kerrigan. Killing the Overmind will either make her reign supreme, send the remaining Zerg including the ones in Shakuras to go into frenzy, or both.
I almost expected Tassadar to appear in the empty frame telling Zeratul and Artanis to "STOP SIMPING" and proceed to somehow kill Kerrigan. Perhaps with the Gantrithor. Perhaps with the Kerrigan death sound.
Before the remaster, it always looked like Artanis had a duck beak... but bigger and flatter. This was one of my favourite missions. I used to use the Zerg to go to the right hand side of the map and take advantage of the creep available and make colonies and some photon cannons to give the initial colonies some support. With overlords, dragoons, some corsairs and scouts and lings, it wasn't a hard push to the crystal.
Artanis: I am not worthy enough to even speak his name. And in the distance, on the winds, legend has it you could hear the words "Artanis, you must stop simping!"
