Ahh…Abbey Dalton! Those cheekbones, that toothy smile. My eleven year old self back in the sixties had quite the crush. Good to see an episode of this rarely seen show.
Hennessy must be in San Diego. Great to see old pro Roscoe Karns ( Shapely on the bus in “It Happened One Night, and as Irish at the pinball machine in “They Drive by Night”. Thanks for this!
As seen on Mondays at 10pm(et). General Electric replaced General Foods [Jell-O] as co-sponsor in the middle of the 1961-'62 season {the cast appeared in "integrated" commercials for them as well}. Claude Kirchner speaks for Newport. Yvonne Othon later changed her name to Yvonne *Wilder.*
"A naval doctor who reports to SHERMAN POTTER, Admiral Roscoe Karns"??? That said, I've long thought of Karns as a prototype for MASH's Col. Potter character. Both characters were old-school military, yet often let their humanity shine through their military veneer.
I just realized the young officer, Chick, is Jackie Cooper. He played the very young (10yr old or so) Jim Hawkins in my favorite childhood movie "Treasure Island" - circa 1934) 😊
This episode comically played into the popularity of better quality HiFi equipment. That $300 HiFi is equivalent to about $3067 today. There were a lot of electronics hobbyists and audiophiles in my neighborhood. My parents liked to entertain guests so they put a big console in living room. That must have cost a fortune.
A Heath Kit would have better reproduction, or Texas Instruments. Wait a couple of years and go with Radio Shack. I`ve got a Realistic that will blow your socks off.
Kinda hard to get into this show when there's no laugh track. Plus, the jokes are a bit flat and the actor playing the sailor looks too much like Alvy Moore, aka "Mr. Kimble" from Green Acres(1965-71).

More Hennesey. I love this show. Haven't seen it in years. The commercials are great.
Time should have stopped in '62. The last of the great times.
The memorable Mr. Karns! Didn’t he played on television. Thanks!
Rosco Karns! One of the best comic actors of all time.
you are my new "Go To" channel for the shows I grew up with, thank you
Glad we can help!
