I bought one 5 years ago and love it. It's a dream to shoot and can handle full-power .357 Magnums all day long, if you can afford it. Thanks for a video on a Fantastic Revolver at a good price.
Purchased one two months ago. Paid $413 + tax. It's a very well made gun. I just installed a Wolff spring trigger and hammer spring reduced weight and did a minor buffing and lube of parts. Really didn't make that much of a difference. I would keep the gun 100 %stock given it's that good out of the box. In my opinion the trigger in double action is not a smooth as a smith but it's perfectly acceptable. My first Taurus. I own S&W, Colt, Ruger, Glock, and CZ's. I have to say the M66 is a real deal at the price I paid. I use to be a gun snob- not any more!
I’ve had a model 66 blued for at least 20 yrs. Works well, and the blueing is still beautiful on it. Everything is still tight on it. Even though I have much more expensive firearms I really like mine. I paid $300 new back then..
Nice review for the pistol! I would say that if it has the Transfer Bar between the firing pin and the hammer, that is actually your safety mechanism. Please update if this pistol does have such a feature, been around since mid 70’s at least on most (not all) revolvers. The lockout screw is for when storing outside a lock box or gun safe to prevent a child from messing with it. But should you be carrying it in a holster, the transfer is your safety. The transfer bar when pulling the trigger will fill up a gap between the firing pin and the hammer. So the hammer hits the transfer bar and that contacts the firing pin. Should the transfer bar not be there the gap’ is to prevent the pistol from discharging without that trigger actually being pulled and for some reason the hammer falls forward. Good luck with your new acquisition!
Wanna feel sick? In 2019, right before covid hit, I bought a Taurus 606 snub nose 357 Magnum, brand new, out of the box, brand new for 150 bucks. It's almost unimaginable how high prices have gone up in just the last four or five years. In 2019. If they were making that gun, it would probably have been around 200 bucks, give or take. It blows my freaking mind!
@GunActivities365 For today's prices, that ain't bad. I bought a Springfield XDM Elite 10mm about 3 months ago. I believe I've got a little over 600 in that gun. I've been wanting one for 3 years, so I didn't mind paying that for it either. I like a 357 Magnum too. That Taurus 606 I had was my best friend's favorite gun. He carried it more than I did. That was my old hunting, shooting, camping partner. He passed away about 3 years ago. It's hard to find good hunting, shooting, camping Partners in your 50s. I'm going to keep on doing the things I love until I die. If I die camping out, then I'll die doing what I love. I'm hoping a 10 mm will take care of the werewolf or a Sasquatch though. No One Believes In them until they say one.😂
I just bought the 6” model from Classic Firearms for under $400 and there should be a $50 Taurus store credit rebate right now. I haven’t claimed the rebate yet but I plan on trying. I also have the 8 shot model with a 4” barrel. I think it is a model 608 and I bought it pre Covid for just over $400. It’s been great so far but I haven’t put a whole lot of rounds through it yet. It’s been accurate for me too.
I have the 605 2 inch. I only run 38s through it. I don’t think it has a long life running 357 in it all the time. But for a pocket gun to take hiking you can’t beat it.
Ive got the blued, 6 incher myself. Its a tank thats for sure, but is its my favorite handgun to shoot. Im thinking about getting the 4 inch version of the 627 Tracker, which is also has 7 shots, but its a bit lighter and has a ported barrell.
Plan to get one for my Christmas present. I don't have any revolvers but the 357 fits the bill because I can use 357 or 38 spl ammo. It is too big to go into my EDC but excellent for home defense.
I bought a M66 last year. It is a 44 Magnum with the ported 4" barrel and adjustable fiber optic sights, almost a twin of my Smith 629. I paid 428 bucks out the door and it's worth every penny. With the 44 Magnum the factory porting really comes in handy but I feed it mostly magnum brass loaded with a cast and powder coated 200gr RN bullet leaving the muzzle at 1100fps, accurate and nice shooting. Full house 44 Mag is a handful and I've pushed more than a few people off the local indoor range with the blast muttering comments like Holy Sh*t or Jeezze Christ after the first cylinder, those ports really cut recoil but you might want to consider wearing 2 forms of hearing protection. Fit and finish is excellent and the trigger is very smooth with a little hitch before it falls in double action. All in all a very nice revolver especially for the price IMHO.
I have a Snub 38 special ultra lite Taurus I bought years ago that I Love and often carry or sleep with it next to my bed , Can't beat the simplicity of a Revolver especially if you don't mess with your guns Alot Revolver is point n pull and Reliable
