I think El's "healing powers" were essentially her using her telekinesis to perform more intense CPR on Max's heart, it seems more realistic to the nature of her powers and is juuuuuuust a little less OP than giving her full on restorative powers. Great video!
The show started off with Will. I'd appreciate him being the main focus of season 5. A confession to Mike, being able to spy on Vecna, some happiness, and a final showdown with him would be amazing. Let Will be happy.
I'm hoping that the neck tingle scene was foreshadowing him having a better storyline next season. Season two was definitely Will's best and the neck tingle was such a pivotal part of that. I hope Mike gets some good screen time too, they've been doing him dirty since season two as well.
Volume 2 was great. The emotions from Eddie's death, Mike’s monologue to Eleven about how he loves her, Joyce and Hopper finally kissing, the action, the music everything was well worth the wait. Season 4 is my second favourite after Season 3. The ending was definitely shocking. Can't wait for Season 5
Yeah I honestly loved it. The scope of what was happening expanded, setting up an intense final season, without losing the feel of stranger things or its character moments. Eddie's death really hit hard (I liked the Duffers comments on a podcast of how they viewed him as a doomed character), Mike's monologue did a great job of recapping the most central relationship of the show, and the ending with the Upside-down creeping up the hill was hauntingly beautiful.

Eleven dying would make the whole show pointless... the entire show is just her going through shit, she deserves a happy ending, and if she dies Mike loses the person he can't live without, Hopper loses another daughter, everyone is depressed. Duffers also explicitly said killing off Mike would be too depressing and they won't do it...
Yeah, I agree. El deserves to stay alive at the end. She has been through wayyy too much (for her age) and needs a break. Also, the Duffers could be lying. I watched an interview with Joseph Quinn and he said he had plans for s5 soo
@@philosopher1912 they aint scared, they just dont want to write the entire show focused on a death. To kill a main character would take a lot of screentime away from other plots. S5 will have plenty of deaths I feel as they wont have to follow up on any.
Pros: Really good music in emotional scenes such as Brenners death, Eddie’s death, Eddie’s Uncle and Dustin talking, and a really good intriguing climax/final battle scene. Cons: A bit overwhelming at times and the writers not being more risky with killing off characters. Solid 8.5/10
They rushed the last two episodes they feel super rushed and I feel like Eddie should of been around and died in season 5 his death with basically pointless
i really wish that the characters read the letters that max gave them, i know they basically did that in season 3 but i was wanting to know what it would it said for each of the characters
I'm hoping they revisit that in season 5 at some point. Hopefully not because Max dies but maybe they can read them to her and react to them? I don't know. I'd hate to think that they focused on the letters so much for us to not know what's in them.

My review of volume 2 is 9/10: The same as Vol One: It's undoubtedly clunky, flat out forgets about some of the characters, and is basically 3 TV shows crammed into one, but the good stuff outweighs the bad tenfold. It's emotional begins to add real stakes to the show, the acting is some of the best I've ever seen, and for all the action there was a touching moment for almost every character. Overall season 4 probably has the most problems of any season of the show, but it also has the most good stuff, leading to a very good, very dark setup to the season 5 finale. Definitely worth the wait.

Lucas, Mike, Dustin, and Will should take on "the big bad" dungeons and dragons style It would be epic to see, the series started with them in Mike's basement playing D And D, so it would be very awesome to see this.

I've watched your videos for a while and enjoy them but I had to laugh when you said "I didn't want us to be right'. You've made so many predictions that some had to be right - most of them have being totally wrong. You said Steve would die, you said Max floating in the graveyard was El getting her powers back, etc. You've come out with a lot of wild claims that flat out were wrong, so many though that of course one or two will be right.
To me, it makes more sense for El to find a way to surrender her powers for good so that no portals can be opened again. This season had a theme of her trying to figure out who she was without her powers. That kind of got abandoned because the plot almost immediately became about getting them back. So season 5 could have El finally accepting what Mike says: she's a hero with or without her powers. She can lose her powers, effectively shutting g down the link between our world and the Upside Down, and go on to live a happy life as just El.
I'm actually feeling burnt out with all the death speculation. Everyone spent soo long predicted who would die, and they just pulled their same old tricks. Introducing a cool new character for that season specifically just to die. And briefly pretending to kill off a main character just to bring them back. (They've already done this with El, hopper and Brenner) I don't particularly want characters to die, but it really lowers the stakes whenever it feels like everyone has plot armour. Yes technically anyone could die In the final season, but Im not that worried tbh, I feel like they're too attached to most of the characters to kill them. They won't kill off eleven, hopper or max, because we've already mourned for their deaths when we thought they died previously, so it wouldn't be as impactful. They won't kill off will or Jonathan because that would leave Joyce without a son, which lessens the impact of the first season when she spent all that time to save her son. They won't kill off Steve because it would result in a situation too similar to Eddie's death, with Dustin crying over his older friend. And honestly I just don't see them having the balls to kill off any of the original kids, because they view them as the Goonies, who always get out of the adventure alive. They won't kill off Joyce because if hopper can't die, he needs to have a happy ending, and with EL soon growing up and leaving him, he'll need his love Joyce. Which I guess only leaves Nancy and robin as possible deaths. But honestly I wouldn't be surprised if neither of these characters died as well. So I basically think the characters all feel too safe going into the final season, which isn't exciting, and this could have been avoided if they just followed through and killed off just one main character this season.
I honestly end up really surprised when anyone thinks they will kill off El just because the original plan in Season 1 was for her to sacrifice herself. She's way too attached to the rest of the characters now for that to be remotely the same (plus, that's too predictable now that we all know that original plan). I think that it would be just way too depressing for Hopper to lose another daughter and they'd have to mercy kill him too (and he's already "died")...but then Joyce would be so crushed but how do you mercy kill her when she has her boys? And Mike would be destroyed after his monologue about how he can't lose her. You're absolutely right about their pattern for killing (or "killing") characters. As they even just said "we're not Game Of Thrones".
I loved the season but I definitely felt a little let down by the epilogue of the finale. There were way too many storylines and it seemed like they weren't able to bring enough closure to all of them. Even the more pivotal moments of the finale didn't get the proper recognition in my opinion. For example, Eddie's death. I would have LOVED to see Steve, Robin, and Nancy finding Dustin and their reactions to Eddie. I also felt like the fallout from Max's situation wasn't handled very well either, I would have thought that Steve would have been more effected by her injuries than he was. I know she at least got a hospital visit from the California crew but that scene felt more stale to me than anything. It seemed like El, Lucas, and Erica were the only ones really effected by Max and that doesn't seem realistic to me. I know Dustin had just watched Eddie die and all but Max had been one of his best friends since middle school and he didn't really show any emotion for her. I know it was probably cut because of time and whatnot but I would have rather had more of the aftermath of their plan than anything from the two day jump.
I felt like the Hopper storyline was even more so poorly fleshed out. Like, why did Yuri fix the helicopter anyway? What convinced him to do it? The victory in China alone shouldn’t have been enough, he was very stubborn. And besides, what happened to Antonov after the helicopter was fixed? Was he able to go back to meet his family, or did something else happen? They could have expanded on it a little more, but nope, just the helicopter lifting, and that’s it

I always knew Eddie would die so that didn't hit me much but when max started floating I was like she's fine someone will save her then the first bone broke and I was like she's hurt but it's just a broken arm someone will save her, then the second bone broke then the third and when she died I lost it man tears flowing down my eyes like the Victoria falls
The duffers said that they are going to make an overall happy ending, so I think that they will for sure not kill El or Mike. They were the leading characters in season 1 and 2 so killing them off is not going to be considered a happy ending for sure, knowing the fact that it would be the saddest thing on earth for most fans to see them die like that.
16:50 they purposely made it ambiguous as a reference to the first halloween movie where michael myers fell out of the house and disappeared. I think that all but confirms his return next season if it wasn't obvious enough already
i think a lot of the things you said that weren't implored about vecna's past will be explained in season 5. vecna might be toying with the kids in that, he's letting them know his past, but just enough for them to feel like they had an advantage. idk that might just be my takeaway.
Mike is 100% dying in season 5 protecting someone. He is gonna be like Billy, be an asshole and redeem himself by sacrificing to save Will or Eleven or even the whole group.
Me and my friend were talking about potential characters to be killed off next season and we both agreed that the two most “likely” characters are Will and Steve, Will is likely to get killed off as I’m assuming he’ll have a pretty big focus next season, so basically the show will come full circle with him being a focus in season 1 and now in season 5. But Steve is also pretty likely to be killed off because his character was planned to get killed off in season 1, but if they do kill him I hope he gets a badass send off or something, like some kind of sacrifice that saves everyone
caleb's "erica help!" and wailing all while the music that played when they resuscitated Will in season 1 played freaking killed me. sadie got the waterworks turned on, but caleb caused a flood also if they end up killing will, they better play that same song. the poeticness of that would just be so freaking emotional.
@@shisexee Yeah she hesitated before she started her heart back up. When Max died there was a bit of time in which El was just crying before she said something along the lines of "No, you don't get to die" and started pumping her heart again.
I have a horrific sinking feeling that they are going to kill off Dustin in the next season. We all know how much the Duffers like to kill off fan favorites. And with how much Dustin looked up to Eddie for his sacrifice, I feel like this will come to define his character going forward. Pencil it in, RIP Dusty Bun.
The Duffers won't kill the main characters at this point. They know that no one gives a shit if everyone lived and they are too scared to kill any of them. They already made an interview basically saying that they won't kill the kids lol
They didn't do the extra month just for effects. They stated it was because so many spoilers would be released the night of in the past and they wanted to give audiences who don't binge a chance to catch up without being spoiled if they decided to take their time. Especially with the longer episodes
I think that el's "Healing powers" came from the fact that vecna uses terrible memories to kill his victims but eleven used max's happy memories to bring her back to life since eleven hypothetically chose path of light while vecna chose path of darkness. So her powers are like the opposite of his own even though they are very similar.
Sadly i feel the best thing for season five would be a mid season death. It would add a whole lot more to the stakes. It would give more emotion to motive’s. Killing a main character at the end that didn’t join in the same season at the end of the show is kind of pointless since season five is the final season and as much as I would hate having a character die halfway through it would be such a change and such a blow in the gut. But I don’t know
I agree. If a character suddenly gets killed right in the middle, the stakes would skyrocket because now we know people could die at any time. I also just think it's necessary to space out any deaths so they each get to leave a proper impact. If every death in the series is crammed into the last episode, it diminishes the impact each one has since they can't give equal focus to the aftermath of each one. A shock mid-series death would be a very good move.
Don't get your hopes up. The duffers have clearly shown after specifying no one was safe this season, that was a complete lie and it's clear they don't have any balls to kill off a main character

@@PhantomBryan9 Unfortunately you're probably right. A mid season death would hugely benefit the story, but so would main character deaths at any point in the first 4 seasons, and the Duffers have clearly shown they're more interested in keeping their cast bloated instead of servicing their story.
I honestly think that Vickie ( Robin's Gf ) is going to die seeing how all newly introduced and beloved characters die, Barb, Bob, Alexei, Billy, Eddie... just my opinion

this was one of the greatest seasons ever from a tv show, i’ll never understand why people make videos critiquing little things that if they were different it would make things unlikely and also slow down character development
This is a really good review. I agree, it feels like that put so much stock in making the season cinematic that it lost the heart and the normalcy that I always loved about stranger things relationships and interactions between characters. I miss the realism amongst the supernatural.
They don't mention the Chernobyl thing because that happened April 1986 and season 4 takes place March 1986 so a month earlier. Mike goes to California on March 22 which was Will's birthday.
Eddie's arch went full circle when he (The guy who always runs away from trouble irl) RAN AWAY to save Dustin from the bats! They did Eddie really dirty imo... When he jumped on that bike to lead the bats away from the trailer in the upside down I got more emotional than I did when my daughter was born... It was such a poetic conclusion to his character arch... Almost like Wizard of Oz, he was an outcast like the rest of them, and had immense amounts of worth all along
1. Why does everyone think bc it wasn’t shown they’re not going to go back to it? The information during those two days we didn’t see is integral to the plot so we’re going to have flashbacks 2. With Eddie if the bats got to his neck, he could easily bleed out if they got his jugular. His mouth with all bloody too, Steve’s wasn’t he just got a few bites to the torso witch is less of a risk. 3. Yuri and Enzo wouldn’t have been able to just come to us, not sure the Cold War and red scare. Idk if they even got to the us with hop and Joyce. They mentioned going to a port city and getting a ride from there. It would be dangerous for them to even be in Russia since they helped Americans. The most logical is that they went into hiding.
Finally someone who is also making sense with Eddie dying. Everyone keeps comparing him & Steve but they also forget Steve only didn't die bc Nance, Robyn & Eddie saved him right before the real danger could've presented itself. Dustin fucked his leg up jumping back through the gate so he only got to Eddie after the bats all ceased attacking
I knew from early on that Eddy had to die. Proving that he did NOT do it would be near impossible... as sad as it is it is much easier to let the town continue to believe that Eddy killed those people than to inform the town about the upside down and all the crazy truths about what really happened.
Imagine if the first trailer for season 5 was in the upside down. We see Eddie’s guitar sitting on top of the trailer. Then we see a hand with a bunch of rings grab it. A pan up, we see Eddie’s face, and he smirks. It could be a good thing, like he could have a connection to the bats, (They could be his friends omg) or powers, or it could be Vecna revived him (Because I think all of the kids have variants of 001’s powers) and he gets flayed and becomes a villain.
They made a huge point about how the upside down is stuck on November 6th the day will went missing and Eddie died in the upside down, which will means he died in the past so maybe that can mean something?? I hope you guys understand what I’m saying, like a possibility of his return?
Something I thought would make the final fight scenes a bit better was if instead of just motivating eleven, they’d also be fighting against the government (maybe they were able to track them), which would raise the stakes for when vecna torturing el. Ofc, Mike’s I love u would still be included🥰
I have a theory- I think max is hiding in her memory….the skating memory… it was not necessary to show us that and it felt a little out of place and yet they showed it to us… so I think she is hiding from Vecna in that memory…also in the end of season 2 the mindflayer was shown in the upside down during the snow ball dance….which means vecna knew about that memory and hence it was easier to find her but vecna does not know about max’s skating memory….not sure if its possible…its just a theory….and maybe be in the next season el will have to go find her and I think max definitely will know something about vecna that will help the gang to fight him…
El is not the reason the upside down exists.. It was already there "since the dinosaurs" El just opened the portal. They cannot take El from Hopper, or El from FINALLY having a good life. She's always been separated from everyone. That would be the worst ending I could imagine.
Whatever happens next season I know not to get to attached to a good new character, because they will most definitely die in a heroic way in the last episode of season 5.
I honestly think the best thing they can do is not introduce any new characters (aside from minor ones on the periphery, like a military presence in Hawkins or something). They have way too many characters already that they have to try giving satisfying endings to, and adding More characters is just going to make that impossible task even harder. This season should focus on the people we've been with since the beginning, rather than giving us another Eddie to take away from the character development of the original cast.
Your points about Eddie are precisely why I believe he somehow is alive. I’m thinking maybe somehow someone found him and dressed his wounds but I don’t think Dustin knows about this. Which is why the scene with Dustin and Eddie’s uncle still exists
001's dad was also in the military like Hopper whst if he also got infacted with the chemicals that kill off the offspring which couldve prompted one's mum to seek scientific methods to keep him alive but instead it gave him powers
Max still being Vecna's target underwhelmed me tbh. Her iconic escape with running up that hill on episode 4 in vol 1 feels pointless now because she just ends up getting ruined by Vecna later on. I was so convinced that Will would be the new target bc of how much trauma he has plus how he was the first person to enter the upside down next to Vecna himself. I still really like the whole season though, quite underwhelmed but still satisfied. Solid 8/10.
Will's past with the UD and Vecna seems set to be explored based on what the Duffers have said (they've all but confirmed he's going to be a huge part of next season), but yeah I wasn't a fan of them targeting Max again. Especially since they didn't want to kill her to further undermine episode 4, so they settled with a fakeout instead.
Season 4's pitfall was making volume 2 only two long episodes. We could have had our gripes addressed if they released more regular episodes in volume 2.
I liked how it ended with so many questions. It makes me hyped for the next season. Though I understand people prefer a more rounded, conclusive ending
Eddie also got a nasty neck wound. That's like asking why a soldier lived from a bullet to the shoulder while the guy next to him took a neck wound & bled out lol
7:15 With the idea that Mike might die, chances are even higher because unlike all the other characters, he has second hand trauma of seeing all his friends suffering. Along with family issues that I think the whole fandom has at least somewhat noticed by now. And other things like bullying and being pushed to kill himself (and luckily being saved by Wl) the chances of Mike dying are just much higher then most of the other characters (not including people like El, Max, Nancy, or the other people you stated have high chances of dying). Though I would cry a lot because I think that there could be a lot of character development with him in season 5 and growing up, the way he views things may change, learning how to act more aware and finally take to realization of how bad the situation is. Also, sorry for writing such a long paragraph.

Who I think will die next season: 1. Max She’ll probably be trapped inside of Vecna’s mind because she isn’t in her own. I believe she might have to sacrifice herself for the whole world (including her mother which I hope they talk about more) to defeat him. She will have to come to accept her death though. 2. Steve Oh come on, he said he wanted to go on road trips with his 6 children and Nancy. And if you count the whole gang as his metaphorical family, he already has fulfilled his life’s purpose. They will have to clear up what’s going on between him and Nancy, but I don’t think they’ll official get together. 3. Nancy I still feel like Nancy needs to make up for abandoning Barb in season 1. She kinda has, but I don’t know. 4. Murray I don’t know, but it seems like they’d want to kill him off.
I might be late on this, but it is possible Eddie is not dead. Like you said in the video, he didn’t really have many injuries for what it seemed. Not only that, I have heard the duffer’s said that the bats don’t actually kill. Netflix also made a tribute video for Eddie with all the characters giving their condolences to Eddie and at the end, Joe Quinn made an appearance, making me think that their hinting that Eddie might now be dead

I have a small theory. So you know how vecna said that all his victims are still in his head. Well I feel like at the end of season 5 when vecna dies, all of his victims not just killed by him, but by the mind flare and demigorgan e.t.c will come back in a sort of apparition (sorta HP resurrection stone stile) for like 30 seconds where Nancy can say bye to barb, and Joyce can say bye to bob. Same with max and billy e.t.c. Then all the apparitions disappear where the finally get the sweet relief of death after being trapped in vecna head.
Could the very final scene in the S4 finale be a vision in a character's mind? Like when El first went into Billy's mind in the S3 finale? There's parallels between those scenes!
I have a feeling that in season five they’re going to do something that has to reveal the two days they skipped over. They’ve done something like that before. Like how they showed how hopper survived, in one of the first episodes of season 4.
Why? We know what happened. They got out of the upside down & dealt with the aftermath of the "earthquake". There isn't much left up to the imagination there

My biggest criticism of this season is the one I expected from all these new characters, locations, and story lines. I just didn't see how they'd be able to wrap up or do each story line justice, or give each major character the attention they deserved. So there were a lot of loose ends that just were never tied up. The Hopper/El reunion seemed kind of like an afterthought, it was less than 2 minutes long! After being manipulated by Brenner for so long this season and Hopper finally getting back and being ready to be the best dad he can be to her I wanted more. I also definitely did want to see his reaction to hearing of her being arrested, taken away to Nevada, etc...but that would have opened a huge can of worms and gone on forever. But it would have REALLY tested his patience and temper, lol. He'd be furious at Brenner, then furious at the cops, then mad at her for actually hitting Angela in the face with a skate (even though it sounds like something HE would do), then furious at Angela and the school, and the roller rink dude. How exhausting, lol.
I felt like Murray was going to die this season, but it did not come true. However I still fear he will die in season 5, that is the only death I am sure on. I am just so disappointed that they killed Eddie. They knew he would most likely be a fan favorite so they wanted to get the fans emotional, but it just felt so brushed over…if they were going to take that time to kill him off, they might as well have taken some more time to actually show people cared about him. It’s pretty ridiculous, they took so little time to show his death that it’s making people suspicious to the point they think he is still alive, and that’s a problem
the physical distance didn't matter because they were all fighting Vecna and the hivemind from differen't places. the russia crew slaughtering demogorgans helped weaken the entire "organism" so to speak. and Eleven doesn't have healing powers, she just performed CPR telekinetically. kinda like how she squeezed the bully's bladder with her mind in season 1 Also in the second to last episode of S4, when nancy is telling everyone the future that venca showed her, she mentions that mike, holly, and mrs wheeler are all dead. since the four gates joining to create a supergate ended up happening, i'm afraid nancy's family will also die in S5
On a podcast the duffers said, (I'm slightly paraphrasing), "max is alive, but shes brain dead and blind. All of her bones are broken. But she's doing great." So my big theory going into the next season is Max will be truly gone from physical body. But during the time skip, because of what Eleven did, Vecna wasn't able to absorb her like he regularly does, and she's going to be able to fight him from the inside. I think max fighting him from the inside is going to be the one thing that's been keeping him at bay and stopping him from fully taking over Hawkins and the rest of the world. I think we're going to be losing several characters in the final season. They're going to all be young adults then and the show is going to ramp up the violence tension and drama. Probably tone down the comedy about 5-10%.
For me Vol.1 was definetely better than Vol 2. The second part had a lot of pacing issues and some weird plot armour and deus ex machina for the characters that I didn't really enjoy. They set up the stakes super high with Vol.1 and kind of dropped them for Vol.2. Also I was kinda hoping for more deaths since they said it was their game of thrones season. I hope the story recovers on season 5, it will be fun to see Hawkins swallowed by the upside down

I think El's "healing powers" were essentially her using her telekinesis to perform more intense CPR on Max's heart, it seems more realistic to the nature of her powers and is juuuuuuust a little less OP than giving her full on restorative powers. Great video!

I'm hoping that the neck tingle scene was foreshadowing him having a better storyline next season. Season two was definitely Will's best and the neck tingle was such a pivotal part of that. I hope Mike gets some good screen time too, they've been doing him dirty since season two as well.

Volume 2 was great. The emotions from Eddie's death, Mike’s monologue to Eleven about how he loves her, Joyce and Hopper finally kissing, the action, the music everything was well worth the wait. Season 4 is my second favourite after Season 3. The ending was definitely shocking. Can't wait for Season 5
Yeah I honestly loved it. The scope of what was happening expanded, setting up an intense final season, without losing the feel of stranger things or its character moments. Eddie's death really hit hard (I liked the Duffers comments on a podcast of how they viewed him as a doomed character), Mike's monologue did a great job of recapping the most central relationship of the show, and the ending with the Upside-down creeping up the hill was hauntingly beautiful.

Duffers also explicitly said killing off Mike would be too depressing and they won't do it...

Pros: Really good music in emotional scenes such as Brenners death, Eddie’s death, Eddie’s Uncle and Dustin talking, and a really good intriguing climax/final battle scene.
Cons: A bit overwhelming at times and the writers not being more risky with killing off characters.

My review of volume 2 is 9/10: The same as Vol One: It's undoubtedly clunky, flat out forgets about some of the characters, and is basically 3 TV shows crammed into one, but the good stuff outweighs the bad tenfold. It's emotional begins to add real stakes to the show, the acting is some of the best I've ever seen, and for all the action there was a touching moment for almost every character. Overall season 4 probably has the most problems of any season of the show, but it also has the most good stuff, leading to a very good, very dark setup to the season 5 finale. Definitely worth the wait.
The thing is I genuinely think the finalie needed to be even longer lol. They really went all out with this season.

What an amazing season of an incredible show! I cried so much, especially when Vecna kills Max temporarily, and during Jonathan's speech to Will.
I've watched your videos for a while and enjoy them but I had to laugh when you said "I didn't want us to be right'. You've made so many predictions that some had to be right - most of them have being totally wrong. You said Steve would die, you said Max floating in the graveyard was El getting her powers back, etc. You've come out with a lot of wild claims that flat out were wrong, so many though that of course one or two will be right.
To me, it makes more sense for El to find a way to surrender her powers for good so that no portals can be opened again. This season had a theme of her trying to figure out who she was without her powers. That kind of got abandoned because the plot almost immediately became about getting them back. So season 5 could have El finally accepting what Mike says: she's a hero with or without her powers. She can lose her powers, effectively shutting g down the link between our world and the Upside Down, and go on to live a happy life as just El.
This does make a lot of sense thematically

I'm actually feeling burnt out with all the death speculation. Everyone spent soo long predicted who would die, and they just pulled their same old tricks.
Introducing a cool new character for that season specifically just to die.
And briefly pretending to kill off a main character just to bring them back. (They've already done this with El, hopper and Brenner)
I don't particularly want characters to die, but it really lowers the stakes whenever it feels like everyone has plot armour.
Yes technically anyone could die In the final season, but Im not that worried tbh, I feel like they're too attached to most of the characters to kill them.
They won't kill off eleven, hopper or max, because we've already mourned for their deaths when we thought they died previously, so it wouldn't be as impactful.
They won't kill off will or Jonathan because that would leave Joyce without a son, which lessens the impact of the first season when she spent all that time to save her son.
They won't kill off Steve because it would result in a situation too similar to Eddie's death, with Dustin crying over his older friend.
And honestly I just don't see them having the balls to kill off any of the original kids, because they view them as the Goonies, who always get out of the adventure alive.
They won't kill off Joyce because if hopper can't die, he needs to have a happy ending, and with EL soon growing up and leaving him, he'll need his love Joyce.
Which I guess only leaves Nancy and robin as possible deaths. But honestly I wouldn't be surprised if neither of these characters died as well.
So I basically think the characters all feel too safe going into the final season, which isn't exciting, and this could have been avoided if they just followed through and killed off just one main character this season.
I honestly end up really surprised when anyone thinks they will kill off El just because the original plan in Season 1 was for her to sacrifice herself. She's way too attached to the rest of the characters now for that to be remotely the same (plus, that's too predictable now that we all know that original plan). I think that it would be just way too depressing for Hopper to lose another daughter and they'd have to mercy kill him too (and he's already "died")...but then Joyce would be so crushed but how do you mercy kill her when she has her boys? And Mike would be destroyed after his monologue about how he can't lose her.

I have a theory Max when she recovers gets some powers just really weak but she can use it to sense her surroundings
I loved the season but I definitely felt a little let down by the epilogue of the finale. There were way too many storylines and it seemed like they weren't able to bring enough closure to all of them. Even the more pivotal moments of the finale didn't get the proper recognition in my opinion. For example, Eddie's death. I would have LOVED to see Steve, Robin, and Nancy finding Dustin and their reactions to Eddie. I also felt like the fallout from Max's situation wasn't handled very well either, I would have thought that Steve would have been more effected by her injuries than he was. I know she at least got a hospital visit from the California crew but that scene felt more stale to me than anything. It seemed like El, Lucas, and Erica were the only ones really effected by Max and that doesn't seem realistic to me. I know Dustin had just watched Eddie die and all but Max had been one of his best friends since middle school and he didn't really show any emotion for her. I know it was probably cut because of time and whatnot but I would have rather had more of the aftermath of their plan than anything from the two day jump.
I felt like the Hopper storyline was even more so poorly fleshed out. Like, why did Yuri fix the helicopter anyway? What convinced him to do it? The victory in China alone shouldn’t have been enough, he was very stubborn. And besides, what happened to Antonov after the helicopter was fixed? Was he able to go back to meet his family, or did something else happen? They could have expanded on it a little more, but nope, just the helicopter lifting, and that’s it

I always knew Eddie would die so that didn't hit me much but when max started floating I was like she's fine someone will save her then the first bone broke and I was like she's hurt but it's just a broken arm someone will save her, then the second bone broke then the third and when she died I lost it man tears flowing down my eyes like the Victoria falls
The duffers said that they are going to make an overall happy ending, so I think that they will for sure not kill El or Mike. They were the leading characters in season 1 and 2 so killing them off is not going to be considered a happy ending for sure, knowing the fact that it would be the saddest thing on earth for most fans to see them die like that.

i think a lot of the things you said that weren't implored about vecna's past will be explained in season 5. vecna might be toying with the kids in that, he's letting them know his past, but just enough for them to feel like they had an advantage. idk that might just be my takeaway.

Mike is 100% dying in season 5 protecting someone. He is gonna be like Billy, be an asshole and redeem himself by sacrificing to save Will or Eleven or even the whole group.
Me and my friend were talking about potential characters to be killed off next season and we both agreed that the two most “likely” characters are Will and Steve, Will is likely to get killed off as I’m assuming he’ll have a pretty big focus next season, so basically the show will come full circle with him being a focus in season 1 and now in season 5. But Steve is also pretty likely to be killed off because his character was planned to get killed off in season 1, but if they do kill him I hope he gets a badass send off or something, like some kind of sacrifice that saves everyone

I think that el's "Healing powers" came from the fact that vecna uses terrible memories to kill his victims but eleven used max's happy memories to bring her back to life since eleven hypothetically chose path of light while vecna chose path of darkness. So her powers are like the opposite of his own even though they are very similar.

Sadly i feel the best thing for season five would be a mid season death. It would add a whole lot more to the stakes. It would give more emotion to motive’s. Killing a main character at the end that didn’t join in the same season at the end of the show is kind of pointless since season five is the final season and as much as I would hate having a character die halfway through it would be such a change and such a blow in the gut. But I don’t know
I agree. If a character suddenly gets killed right in the middle, the stakes would skyrocket because now we know people could die at any time. I also just think it's necessary to space out any deaths so they each get to leave a proper impact. If every death in the series is crammed into the last episode, it diminishes the impact each one has since they can't give equal focus to the aftermath of each one. A shock mid-series death would be a very good move.

This is a really good review. I agree, it feels like that put so much stock in making the season cinematic that it lost the heart and the normalcy that I always loved about stranger things relationships and interactions between characters. I miss the realism amongst the supernatural.
They don't mention the Chernobyl thing because that happened April 1986 and season 4 takes place March 1986 so a month earlier. Mike goes to California on March 22 which was Will's birthday.

Eddie's arch went full circle when he (The guy who always runs away from trouble irl) RAN AWAY to save Dustin from the bats! They did Eddie really dirty imo... When he jumped on that bike to lead the bats away from the trailer in the upside down I got more emotional than I did when my daughter was born... It was such a poetic conclusion to his character arch... Almost like Wizard of Oz, he was an outcast like the rest of them, and had immense amounts of worth all along

1. Why does everyone think bc it wasn’t shown they’re not going to go back to it? The information during those two days we didn’t see is integral to the plot so we’re going to have flashbacks
2. With Eddie if the bats got to his neck, he could easily bleed out if they got his jugular. His mouth with all bloody too, Steve’s wasn’t he just got a few bites to the torso witch is less of a risk.
3. Yuri and Enzo wouldn’t have been able to just come to us, not sure the Cold War and red scare. Idk if they even got to the us with hop and Joyce. They mentioned going to a port city and getting a ride from there. It would be dangerous for them to even be in Russia since they helped Americans. The most logical is that they went into hiding.
Finally someone who is also making sense with Eddie dying. Everyone keeps comparing him & Steve but they also forget Steve only didn't die bc Nance, Robyn & Eddie saved him right before the real danger could've presented itself. Dustin fucked his leg up jumping back through the gate so he only got to Eddie after the bats all ceased attacking

I knew from early on that Eddy had to die. Proving that he did NOT do it would be near impossible... as sad as it is it is much easier to let the town continue to believe that Eddy killed those people than to inform the town about the upside down and all the crazy truths about what really happened.
Imagine if the first trailer for season 5 was in the upside down. We see Eddie’s guitar sitting on top of the trailer. Then we see a hand with a bunch of rings grab it. A pan up, we see Eddie’s face, and he smirks. It could be a good thing, like he could have a connection to the bats, (They could be his friends omg) or powers, or it could be Vecna revived him (Because I think all of the kids have variants of 001’s powers) and he gets flayed and becomes a villain.

I think max is hiding in her memory….the skating memory… it was not necessary to show us that and it felt a little out of place and yet they showed it to us… so I think she is hiding from Vecna in that memory…also in the end of season 2 the mindflayer was shown in the upside down during the snow ball dance….which means vecna knew about that memory and hence it was easier to find her but vecna does not know about max’s skating memory….not sure if its possible…its just a theory….and maybe be in the next season el will have to go find her and I think max definitely will know something about vecna that will help the gang to fight him…

Whatever happens next season I know not to get to attached to a good new character, because they will most definitely die in a heroic way in the last episode of season 5.
I honestly think the best thing they can do is not introduce any new characters (aside from minor ones on the periphery, like a military presence in Hawkins or something). They have way too many characters already that they have to try giving satisfying endings to, and adding More characters is just going to make that impossible task even harder. This season should focus on the people we've been with since the beginning, rather than giving us another Eddie to take away from the character development of the original cast.
Your points about Eddie are precisely why I believe he somehow is alive. I’m thinking maybe somehow someone found him and dressed his wounds but I don’t think Dustin knows about this. Which is why the scene with Dustin and Eddie’s uncle still exists
001's dad was also in the military like Hopper whst if he also got infacted with the chemicals that kill off the offspring which couldve prompted one's mum to seek scientific methods to keep him alive but instead it gave him powers
Max still being Vecna's target underwhelmed me tbh. Her iconic escape with running up that hill on episode 4 in vol 1 feels pointless now because she just ends up getting ruined by Vecna later on. I was so convinced that Will would be the new target bc of how much trauma he has plus how he was the first person to enter the upside down next to Vecna himself. I still really like the whole season though, quite underwhelmed but still satisfied. Solid 8/10.
Will's past with the UD and Vecna seems set to be explored based on what the Duffers have said (they've all but confirmed he's going to be a huge part of next season), but yeah I wasn't a fan of them targeting Max again. Especially since they didn't want to kill her to further undermine episode 4, so they settled with a fakeout instead.

Season 4's pitfall was making volume 2 only two long episodes. We could have had our gripes addressed if they released more regular episodes in volume 2.
I liked how it ended with so many questions. It makes me hyped for the next season. Though I understand people prefer a more rounded, conclusive ending
They need these questions to set up SE 5. Everyone wanting a happy tied up ending doesn't understand that
Steve and Eddie's bites werent the same. Steve was like bitten two times, and Eddie was beaten all over his body.
Eddie also got a nasty neck wound. That's like asking why a soldier lived from a bullet to the shoulder while the guy next to him took a neck wound & bled out lol
I hope Will will be the one to destroy the upside down because he was the first one to suffer from it in the show
7:15 With the idea that Mike might die, chances are even higher because unlike all the other characters, he has second hand trauma of seeing all his friends suffering. Along with family issues that I think the whole fandom has at least somewhat noticed by now. And other things like bullying and being pushed to kill himself (and luckily being saved by Wl) the chances of Mike dying are just much higher then most of the other characters (not including people like El, Max, Nancy, or the other people you stated have high chances of dying). Though I would cry a lot because I think that there could be a lot of character development with him in season 5 and growing up, the way he views things may change, learning how to act more aware and finally take to realization of how bad the situation is. Also, sorry for writing such a long paragraph.
When Vecna shows Nancy visions of the future, she says Mike, Holly, and Mrs Wheeler are all dead
A question I want answering is how are they going to start s5 because the kids are meant to be older but they literally can’t skip the world being taken over by the upside down

Who I think will die next season:
1. Max
She’ll probably be trapped inside of Vecna’s mind because she isn’t in her own. I believe she might have to sacrifice herself for the whole world (including her mother which I hope they talk about more) to defeat him. She will have to come to accept her death though.
2. Steve
Oh come on, he said he wanted to go on road trips with his 6 children and Nancy. And if you count the whole gang as his metaphorical family, he already has fulfilled his life’s purpose. They will have to clear up what’s going on between him and Nancy, but I don’t think they’ll official get together.
3. Nancy
I still feel like Nancy needs to make up for abandoning Barb in season 1. She kinda has, but I don’t know.
4. Murray
I don’t know, but it seems like they’d want to kill him off.

I might be late on this, but it is possible Eddie is not dead. Like you said in the video, he didn’t really have many injuries for what it seemed. Not only that, I have heard the duffer’s said that the bats don’t actually kill. Netflix also made a tribute video for Eddie with all the characters giving their condolences to Eddie and at the end, Joe Quinn made an appearance, making me think that their hinting that Eddie might now be dead
Eddie sustained an neck wound. If they bring him back it'll be a huge mistake. That would essentially make any stakes the show set up null & void. They already brought back Hopper & Brenner. Let Eddie go out the hero he always wanted to be

I have a small theory. So you know how vecna said that all his victims are still in his head. Well I feel like at the end of season 5 when vecna dies, all of his victims not just killed by him, but by the mind flare and demigorgan e.t.c will come back in a sort of apparition (sorta HP resurrection stone stile) for like 30 seconds where Nancy can say bye to barb, and Joyce can say bye to bob. Same with max and billy e.t.c. Then all the apparitions disappear where the finally get the sweet relief of death after being trapped in vecna head.
Could the very final scene in the S4 finale be a vision in a character's mind? Like when El first went into Billy's mind in the S3 finale? There's parallels between those scenes!

I have a feeling that in season five they’re going to do something that has to reveal the two days they skipped over. They’ve done something like that before. Like how they showed how hopper survived, in one of the first episodes of season 4.
Why? We know what happened. They got out of the upside down & dealt with the aftermath of the "earthquake". There isn't much left up to the imagination there

My biggest criticism of this season is the one I expected from all these new characters, locations, and story lines. I just didn't see how they'd be able to wrap up or do each story line justice, or give each major character the attention they deserved. So there were a lot of loose ends that just were never tied up. The Hopper/El reunion seemed kind of like an afterthought, it was less than 2 minutes long! After being manipulated by Brenner for so long this season and Hopper finally getting back and being ready to be the best dad he can be to her I wanted more. I also definitely did want to see his reaction to hearing of her being arrested, taken away to Nevada, etc...but that would have opened a huge can of worms and gone on forever. But it would have REALLY tested his patience and temper, lol. He'd be furious at Brenner, then furious at the cops, then mad at her for actually hitting Angela in the face with a skate (even though it sounds like something HE would do), then furious at Angela and the school, and the roller rink dude. How exhausting, lol.
I felt like Murray was going to die this season, but it did not come true. However I still fear he will die in season 5, that is the only death I am sure on.
I am just so disappointed that they killed Eddie. They knew he would most likely be a fan favorite so they wanted to get the fans emotional, but it just felt so brushed over…if they were going to take that time to kill him off, they might as well have taken some more time to actually show people cared about him. It’s pretty ridiculous, they took so little time to show his death that it’s making people suspicious to the point they think he is still alive, and that’s a problem

the physical distance didn't matter because they were all fighting Vecna and the hivemind from differen't places. the russia crew slaughtering demogorgans helped weaken the entire "organism" so to speak. and Eleven doesn't have healing powers, she just performed CPR telekinetically. kinda like how she squeezed the bully's bladder with her mind in season 1
Also in the second to last episode of S4, when nancy is telling everyone the future that venca showed her, she mentions that mike, holly, and mrs wheeler are all dead. since the four gates joining to create a supergate ended up happening, i'm afraid nancy's family will also die in S5
On a podcast the duffers said, (I'm slightly paraphrasing), "max is alive, but shes brain dead and blind. All of her bones are broken. But she's doing great."
So my big theory going into the next season is Max will be truly gone from physical body. But during the time skip, because of what Eleven did, Vecna wasn't able to absorb her like he regularly does, and she's going to be able to fight him from the inside. I think max fighting him from the inside is going to be the one thing that's been keeping him at bay and stopping him from fully taking over Hawkins and the rest of the world.
I think we're going to be losing several characters in the final season. They're going to all be young adults then and the show is going to ramp up the violence tension and drama. Probably tone down the comedy about 5-10%.
Nah they won't. I said it for season 4 and I'm saying it again. The duffer brothers won't ever have balls to kill any main people.

For me Vol.1 was definetely better than Vol 2. The second part had a lot of pacing issues and some weird plot armour and deus ex machina for the characters that I didn't really enjoy. They set up the stakes super high with Vol.1 and kind of dropped them for Vol.2. Also I was kinda hoping for more deaths since they said it was their game of thrones season. I hope the story recovers on season 5, it will be fun to see Hawkins swallowed by the upside down
why do I see Dustin comforting Steve as he dies like he did with Eddie, and Steve says "I guess you don't need a babysitter anymore..." then dies

This show sure has a trend of killing off beloved characters within a single season! While I was heartbroken over Eddie's death, it slightly felt thrown in just for shock value, and nobody but Dustin and Wayne seemed to be impacted by it.
I really wanted a scene of everyone reacting to Eddie's death as well.
