the Pink House commission #4

  • This is the last part of the Pink House commission. It was a joy and a privilege to be given this old house to "do up"! The owner of this house had it built for her by her father, when she was eight years old. She is now nearly thirty eight, and asked me to work on it, so that her daughter could continue to play with it for the coming years!

    Thank you Richard, was puzzling over wiring a new to me house, decided to watch this video as a diversion and was extremely pleased to find you carefully explaining just what I needed to do!

    The pink house has turned out great, & I am sure the children are going to really enjoy playing in it. It was also great to have you explain the wiring & lighting of the house, as I did not have the faintest idea of how to do that, so another of your great videos now Saved for me to watch again when needed. Thank you so much.

    The new workshop looks great! And the pink house looks great as well, I am sure your client will be thrilled and it's so thoughtful of you to add the kitchen furnishings. I was thinking that huge house was going to be apartments! I'm excited to see what you do with it. Hugs to you, John, and Nigel!

    I have got to get a proper doll house and give it a go! I bought a cupboard and sort of made it a doll house, it’s primitive, and you have given me so many ideas and the courage to try! Thank you Richard 🙏 love how this is coming along ❣️

    The house turned out wonderfully! Thanks for sharing the tips on wiring. I did tape wire in my house many years ago and it is failing. I am going to try and fix it wiring the way you do and others I have seen wire. Luckly no flooring is down permanently and it is a front opening house. Hoping to be able to correct the lighting with little damage to the decor already in place. Excited about the new commission. Happy you will be able to share the progress. I will miss seeing your Van Gogh print but how lovely the outside of your workroom looks! What an amazing portrait of you. The artist not only captured your likeness but also you can see your kindness in the portrait. As always thank you for sharing.

      Many thanks as always Liz 🙏 that's a great idea, if you can put down removable flooring, so you change lights or re wire etc!
      I'll miss the Van Gogh too, that was actually a canvas painting that John boy painted ❤️ maybe it can sneak into the workshop one day who knows?!......😁

      @@RichMiniatures lovely job John on the Van Gogh. My mom’s favorite artist. We are hoping to go to the traveling exhibit Beyond Van Gogh that is in our area this month ❤️

    • @RichMiniatures

      @@lizcockrum9413 John says thank you 🙏 Van Gogh is also my favourite artist ever! I went to see the full exhibition of his work, years ago in the Royal Academy in London. They said the exhibition was only going to be shown here every forty years. So it was a "once in a lifetime" chance, because I won't be here when it's on again! 😂 Also, we have bought work from a well known artist here in the UK, and Van Gogh is his favourite artist too. He paints in a very similar way. And once, he did a copy of "the Sunflowers" just to have on the wall in the house for his wife and him to look at. But after knowing him for some time, and buying a number of his works, we had the chance to visit them in their home! I noticed the painting, and long story short, he let me buy it! So if I remember, I'll show it in one of my videos some day 🙏❤️

    Hi Richard seems that some of my comments have not been posting hope this does 🙄..thank you for another fantastic video..on your last video I asked if you could show how you do the lights and yay here you are showing us how to do the lights I really appreciate it thank you..I am going to go with the light strip option and hopefully turns out ok..I have learnt so much from you these last few months you're such a great teacher..much love from Sharon xx

    • @RichMiniatures
      @RichMiniatures  Рік тому

      Hi Sharon, sorry to hear that some of your comments aren't showing! Hope everything is working ok now 🙏 you are welcome regarding the lights. If you use the strip lighting method, remember a few steps that will make things easier, and can save time in the process! Firstly, ALWAYS test your lights as soon as they come out of the packaging! Don't wait until you've installed them into your house, to then find out that one of them is faulty! Then when you install them, keep the flex as long as possible and cut the plugs off close to the plug itself. After you've installed them, re wire them back onto the plugs that you cut off. But remember to leave the wires stuck together so the cable threads through the hole in the plug, then once you've threaded it through,then split the wire into the two separate lengths to fix them back into the plug holes. I used to desperate the ends of the wires first, but soon realised that they were so much harder to thread them both into the plugs! And above all....just have fun! 😁❤️ xx

    I really enjoyed watching the process of pink house renovation. Many of thanks to you and your client for sharing. Im curious if you've ever taken on a fairy or gnome house project. My husband and I are newbies, hollowing out piece of an old maple we had taken down last year. im planning lots if rustic twig furniture etc. You continue to inspire us to "just have a go!"❤

      Hi there 👋 no I've never done a project like that before, but I've always been curious about such beings, and I think a fairy house would be great to work on! I lived for 11 years in the city of York, and I visited a place in Yorkshire called Cottingley. This place is famous in history because of the Cottingley fairies! You may already know because it's famous, but look it up if not. But I was fortunate one day on a trip out, to find the house, knock on the door, and speak to the owner. It turned out that the old lady was the daughter of one of the little girls who lived there before and saw the fairies 😁

    I never thought about colouring the wire through the chain, smart idea. The first house I did has electric, was so nice to just flip the switch, why I changed to battery lights I don’t know. I am having trouble finding the tiny 3v batterie ones, slightly bigger that hearing aid batteries. Will have to go on a search.

    • @RichMiniatures
      @RichMiniatures  Рік тому

      Very welcome as always Donna 🙏 yes I wouldn't ever have battery lights as you have to switch each one on and off all the time. Plus and I'm only guessing because I've never had any, but I'm thinking that the base of the lights would be bigger and more bulk than their "electric" equivalent? I'll look over here and see what I can find and key you know 🙂🙏

    The house looks beautiful, Love the lights. 😊 I have used copper tape in the past as I found it neater on the back of the house but the soldering was quite fiddly.

    • @RichMiniatures
      @RichMiniatures  Рік тому +1

      I think the copper tape method is much neater too Emma, but the soldering just gets better with practice! I used to stick a few small strips onto a piece of wood and just practice soldering little bits of waste wires to it! It's amazing how quick it teaches you 😁❤️
