Wow, we date ourselves with mention of things like "lay away." My mom bought my winter coats on lay away, So much better a system than running up thousands of dollars of credit card debt at a zillion per cent interest. The anticipation and waiting were part of the experience. Takes me back to the era that the your rooming house dollhouse seems to represent. Love it.
YES the clock is ticking, but time has been kind☺️💖! Layaway was a wonderful tool! The anticipation of picking up the ITEMS on the Due Bill on or before the DUE DATE WAS MAGICAL!!!

Hey Gretchen, I love your videos. My Grandmother had a country store that her Father designed and built. He added living quarters which was really interesting. But in the room closest to the service counter was a long slanted desk with drawers and cubbies. In those days people often traded on credit and I remember my Grandmother had large binders where she would put the customer’s names and keep a running tally of their purchases. You could easily design a slanted table attached to the wall with two front legs and a ledge around the edges to keep paperwork from sliding off. Then a little shelf at the top and some drawers. Just a thought. Have a blessed day.
