Whenever the subject of mystery noises comes up, I tell about the one that nearly drove me mad. In the fall and winter, I would sometimes hear a metallic tick-tick-tick sound. It happened only when I was pedaling and seated. Was it my pedals? My bottom bracket? My seat post? I had everything checked. I looked the bike over high and low. Then one day, as I was riding, I happened to look down. The aglets (the plastic coating at the end of cords and laces on clothing) of my cold-weather jacket were swaying back and forth, hitting the top tube as I pedaled. Tick-tick-tick.
Have you ever heard a mysterious noise coming from your bike?
Yes, thanks to this video I think I have identified a long-term problem! My cables need to be tightened or loosened. Thank you for this!
Awesome to hear it helped. Good luck with the adjustments; may your cables be forever in your favor!

It's amazing how something so small can cause so much confusion! Glad you figured it out! Thank you for sharing your story!
I have fenders on my bike and they sometimes get a little bent and cause a “rub rub rubby” sound on my tires 😂
'rub rub rubby' Forgot that sound. I just heard a new sound today on my bike. chirp, chirp. Somehow it worked itself out.😂
