Great Video! Lots of useful information.
Thank you so much! Glad you found it helpful
No senior wants a standard bicycle seat, we want a bench type motor bike set, I have talked to people about this in the camp a park grounds.
That’s a great point! Comfort is key for senior cyclists, and a bench-style seat could definitely enhance the riding experience. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Fantastic comparison between the two bikes, they're pros, cons, and best uses. In terms or riding quality, both are great but I would give the edge to Dahon because of the adjustable handlebar positioning & stem height. It is a very comfortable bike to ride. You get used to the 2 hand shifting on a 6 speed Brompton evantually, but the 7 speed Dahon I own feels much more natural. The 20 inch wheels do require less effort to mobilse to the Brompton 16 inch wheels, but I would say the difference is minimal. For mixed use with transit and flying, the Brompton is an amazing tool. It isn't even a bike it's an extention of yourself I've found. Shopping cart mode is a gamechanger and brings immense justification to the price and your quality of life even. The Dahon feels more like a "normal bike". I prefer how you sit on it, especially for a long distance or hilly ride. In a flat, congested city, just invest the money in the Brompton. Very glad they mentioned the gear range was actually greater on a 6 speed Brompton to an 8 speed Mariner too!
I really appreciate your detailed feedback! It's always helpful to hear from fellow riders who have firsthand experience with both bikes. This should help others in making their decision. It is cool to see how each bike has its own vibe and we do agree that the Dahon feels more like a "normal bike" Thank you for sharing!
Oh no no no no 😮. I wouldn’t even have walked up to the entrance of that cave 😂😂😂
That cave definitely gave off some eerie vibes!
Beautiful places😊
Beautiful places indeed! Just wait until they get a few snowflakes-instant Hallmark magic!
This woman is dangerous. Utterly delusional, but will open her big mouth about anything
Haha! I love the comment. You made me laugh. Thank you.
I admire your fortitude. The coldest temp in which I've ridden is 47 degrees. And yes, the self-creating-wind factor is a big turn-off for colder winter riding for me. I did not know that tires lose more air in the winter - good to know!
We are basically wimps when it comes to biking in cold weather. Sometimes we'd rather bike uphill then freeze to death going downhill. It is invigorating though(sometimes). Glad the video was helpful! Looking forward to warmer biking weather ☀️ 🚴♀️
The bizarre Hallmark movie was Da Bomb! (do the kids still say that these days?)
@@scholasticacooney6830 maybe not since the 90's 🤗 but glad you enjoyed our weird humor.
0:15 drivers licenses start at €2000 euros but it isnt uncommon for someone to need more tutoring and spend upwards of 3 or 4 thousand euros
Wow! That is a lot of money-that's why it's better to bike!
Very exciting! Great video... I've been wanting to ride Cumberland to Washington dc, for years now. Lord willing, this coming June/ July. Enjoy the ride!
Thank you! Enjoy your ride this summer! Let us know how it goes
I didn't know it was pronounced as dei-hon. I just read it as it is, da- hon.
Have I been saying it wrong? We all have our little mispronunciations-I couldn't tell you which pronunciation is correct. We would have to ask Mr. Dahon...It's part of the fun!
I honestly dont know what is the right pronunciation. A simple Google search shows me both pronunciations are correct and acceptable 😊 its just that I wasnt expecting such a strong stress on "day" part of dahon. We all have our accents, im not even a native speaker.. i respect and thanks for the video.
Look for “The Willow Loop,” Willow, Texas. Especially in late March.
Thanks for the suggestion! The Willow Loop sounds like a beautiful trail to explore, especially in late March. We'll definitely check it out!
Your way is easier than than the one on the official Brompton channel. Thanks
I'm glad you found our method easier! The video was made for a quick reminder anytime the unfortunate thing happens.
So good!! I'm also impressed that you can fit your clothes in there too, wow. If you tell the airline there's a bike in there, won't they charge you bike fees??
Thanks for the compliment! It’s amazing how much you can fit in there when you pack smart. As for the airline, the bike was within the size and weight regulations so they can't charge you extra. The airlines knew. They only thing they made me do was put it on a separate cart with other sports equipment and musical instruments.
Thanks for sharing audio is rough
Thank you for your feedback! We had technical difficulties that day. Ugh!
The real doofy 😆
Haha! Thanks for stopping by!
Cold weather tips are always appreciated! I never thought about checking a wind chill chart before…. that’s very helpful 👍🏾 😊
A wind chill chart: the ultimate weather whisperer! Stay warm out there and I think we are all hoping for an early Spring.🐝🌸
Nice video with great tips. An alternative to the toe warmer….Ski shops have a full insole version.
We appreciate your kind words! I will have to look that up. How is it any different than the insoles we use? Thanks for sharing.
@@RideandShineBicycling same as full insole rechargeable but the temporary chemical version. Did you find any shoe fit issues with the rechargeable version? Do they take up much space?
Good tips. One thing that I do and it’s very successful is to use ski goggles. Definitely keeps your face a little warmer and your eyes aren’t tearing all the time.
@@MrPaulc73 great tip! Thanks!
Interesting about the temporary insoles. I didn't know that they were around. The rechargeable version is designed to fit snugly in most shoes, but it can vary depending on the shoe type. You are able to cut the top part off to make it fit better. As for space, they’re pretty compact, and you do need to lift the bottom part out to recharge them. I find it easier to grab them by the middle part to lift them out. But overall you shouldn’t have any major issues! Thanks for sharing.
Yep, bike dork here. After years of cold cycling, we head south. But then again, we are old!
That's the best trick yet! Haha, bike dorks unite! Enjoy the warmth and pedal on, my friends!
Way to go! How much is that in bike mileage?? :)
Well, if my calculations are correct, that’s enough mileage to bike to the moon and back! it definitely was a long ride! whew! I am tired
You ladies are rocking it! Woohoo 🎉 🎉 🎈🎈🎈🤩🤩😀 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾 congratulations 🎊🍾! Hoping for double that amount in the new year!!!😊 Love your content ❤

Haha❣️ You are so right on.
Way to hang in there providing great content.
We really appreciate your support, and we're so glad you enjoy the content❣️ 🚴♀️🎉
Love this! Thank you so much for sharing the information. 🙌✨💖
So glad you liked it! I hope it encourages more people to try out a trike!
Howdy! How did you find out about those two trails? On another note, interesting that your viewership is almost 90% male.
We found the trails after a deep dive into the internet rabbit hole. We always start with Google Bike Maps when planning. We were in Ellicott City, MD years ago and knew how interesting that town could be to combine it with the nearby abandoned ghost town trail as a biking tour. As for the viewership, we think it could be safety concerns why fewer women cyclists are out there. Our viewership of women has increased from the start of this channel, so we like that. If this channel has encouraged more women to become riders then we have succeeded in our quest! Thanks for being a super fan.
Probably will be scrapped by municipal cleaners or taken to chop shop by homeless folk, whichever comes first.
Worst handlebar design.. that high can't be adjusted like telescopic one. Bike should be ridden mostly but compromised alot to be compactly folded. Waste 😅
I thought they had at least 5 different handlebar designs, which isn't offered on other folding bikes. But I can totally feel you on that challenge to find the right balance. We are all looking for that comfortable ride and don't want any kind of trade-off between adjustability and compactness. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@RideandShineBicycling yap, i see. they can have thousands of different designs but its simply not adjustable like telescopic handlebar.. that's just one of the design flaws
we don't have utopia in our country, we have normality on a human scale :-)
Lucky you to be able to have that perfect recipe for a balanced life. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
More eerie adventures 😮😊😊!
Gosh, we do deliver a lot of eerie content. 🧟♀️ We love sharing these adventures with you. We have been talking about the next direction the channel should take. We would like to focus more on women's stories and cycling issues. Is it in the best interest of the channel and our followers who are 87% male and watch the channel? Thanks again for being an ardent follower!
Well done. A great resource!
@@CentristRN thanks so much! And thanks for watching!
Well done. A great resource!
Cheers and thanks for the fantastic comment! We are glad you found the content valuable. The C&O is a magical place.
Why on earth would you even think to compair female and male bikers?
Huh? Not sure how you got that impression. Unless you are talking about my observation of an equal amount of male and female riders in the Netherlands. It is a different scenario in the USA. Men are three times more likely to bike in the U.S. than women. The U.S. ranks second-to-last for cycling mode share among women-identified riders. Competitive cycling: 87% of U.S. competitive cyclists are male. Bike commuting: About 72% of bike commuters in the U.S. are men. So you can see why I made that observation when I was visiting the amazing country of the Dutch.
Yup that was what I was talking about. Seems weird to me to even think about looking at the number of male to female riders. But then again, I am Dutch.
I love province town and I love Massachusetts it’s my home state
Provincetown is such a beautiful place with such a vibrant community. I do love Massachusetts, it is a special place not only do a lot of my family live in Massachusetts, but I love the beaches, bicycling, glorious sunsets, and sweet towns with interesting histories. Thanks for sharing your love.
When you ride sideways on an inclined driveway you can fall. I have had numerous examples where I have fallen. My butt is about a foot off the ground. My hands are about 6 inches from the ground. The distance I fall when I have fallen on my trike has never had bothered me for more than a few minutes. I was distracted walking too fast in a trains station and with a little lip between the tiles I fractured my spine from the fall when walking. I think that the fact that I was so close to the ground has made the fall much less troublesome than if I were riding a standard bike where my butt would have been much higher. I have never seen a comment like this. Another example is once I was riding on a bike path with wet river silt which is like ice. My old recumbent bike went one way and I went the other on a turn. There was no serious injury but my clothes got dirty. You have to be sure that you are able to see both ways in an intersection and crawl slowly out into the intersection with a poor ability to see both ways around parked cars. Car doors can be a problem on a regular bike also. When you see cars parked you have to slow down and expect that someone will open a door in front of you or walk in front of a stopped bus or truck. The lower the center of gravity when you are riding a recumbent the less chance of falling. Also the harder it may be to get in and out of. I am 78 years old and I would not ride anything else at my age. I have super low gearing for the hills and headwinds. I ride slow up the hill but there are few hills I can't get up (very slowly).
Yes, we have never gotten a comment like yours! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your story! Your perspective on safety and riding low is helpful for everyone in the trike community. Your trike may be low to the ground but your wisdom is sky-high. Keep riding safely!
Brompton's probably not worth the price unless you really need to travel with it by air regularly. Dahons have TERRIBLE customer service. Very hard to get the specialized parts for the folding hardware. Eventually ordered right from the aliexpress. I would have bought factory, but they didn't respond to emails.
We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts! Your feedback on Brompton and Dahons is invaluable for anyone considering a purchase. Getting parts shouldn't be like a treasure hunt. Sounds like Dahon needs to step up its customer service game.
Nope. Bicycles get a pass 😊
Haha, right? Bicycles are just chill like that! No rules for those two-wheeled rebels!
please compare and contrast Netherlands 🇳🇱 Denmark 🇩🇰 Germany 🇩🇪 Canada 🇨🇦 Australia 🇦🇺 bike culture
We haven't biked in Australia or Denmark yet, but would love to bike in those countries!
it’s amazing how much more views your netherlands videos have instead of usa
Ugh! it's true. The Dutch just really like their bikes. But the channel's goal is to get more people on bikes, which I hope we are achieving. It is interesting to see how different regions resonate with content! We love making videos about the Netherlands and the USA and I'm glad so many people enjoy them. Thanks for the comment.
never use roof bike racks, they are way too heavy
I am with you. You are so right! Roof bike racks can be quite cumbersome. Unless you’re looking to add a little extra cardio to your bike trip by lifting weights on the roof, better to keep it on the hitch!
I've had an e-assist trike for 4 years now , albeit it's a fairly expensive purchase (HP Velotechnik), fully suspended, premium seat , lights, flag and reflectors. There are no disadvantages that I have experienced, except for the fact of sitting so low, dogs just hate it when I ride past, so I maneuver to leave plenty of space.
It's awesome to hear that you've had such a positive experience with your e-assist trike! We did a review on the HP Velotechnick and got to ride it. I was absolutely top of the line. The HP Velotechnik really makes some quality gear, and it's great that you've found no disadvantages. Maneuvering to avoid those furry friends is a smart move!
No more details on how to secure the dining privileges to the French Embassy?? I do know the restaurant there offered take-away Thanksgiving dinners there a few years ago, and even finding that info was difficult.

Wonderful information! I didn’t know about the vertical hitch bike racks!
Awesome! I’m happy you found it interesting! I didn't know about Vertical hitch racks until I went to a mountain bike event.
I want to join you I love to go bike riding !
That sounds awesome! We’d love to have you join us for a bike ride sometime. It’s always more fun with friends!
I'd come to this realisation regarding the glasses and the slumped back. I need +3.00 for normal distance. Having a short back to torso doesn't help(Old and inflexible 56, I'm 5'7" with 33.25" inseam -for the reach I need none of the bikes have the right amount of stack, always too low at the bars with high saddle), neither does having an xl/xxl head like a medicine ball. I'm about to go flat bar conversion on my gravel bike and sell the road bikes, get back to upright as I don't see this ever getting any better and it's ruining any enjoyment!!
Sounds like you’ve been through the wringer with that bike setup! Good call on the flat bar-comfort is key! Hope it works out for ya! I had to change my stem and handlebars to produce more comfort.
Being close to the ground doesn't make you more streamlined....it just makes you closer to the ground! Streamlining (air resistance reduction) comes from frontal area, shape , smoothness of flow, rear vacuum drag etc....all of which are an issue for both Recumbents an traditional bikes. Trikes have more wheel resistance and frontal area due to extra wheel and frame components. Your shoulders/torso are the wides part of you and a traditional biker can reduce that by posture whereas the trike cannot. An airplane flying very close to the ground only has better performance when its wingtips are low enough to break the vortex drag there (yes, very low!)....trikes don't have wing vortices. The difference between the height of a rider on a traditional bike an that of a trike rider is insignificant for wind drag.unless you are hiding behind a hedge. Someone please prove me wrong because I hear this argument all the time. I ride a two wheel recumbent and love it and am switching to a trike because of weather and slippery road issues. Recumbents are great but unless you put a fairing on them (easier than on a two wheeler) I suspect that if you are not trying to draft another bike or car/camper there is just as big of an issue with traditional bikes as with recumbents. I would have thought this issue would be very simple to do with some air tunnels by now.
You've made some excellent points about aerodynamics and the factors that affect it! It’s definitely a complex topic, and it seems like the debate between recumbents and trikes will continue for a while. Enjoy your switch to the trike-sounds like a great choice for those weather conditions! Fantastic post. Thanks!
