So refreshing to hear someone finally speak from their heart with such unrestrained emotion and love for one’s family and co-workers in a totally unrehearsed manner compared to those stiff long-winded speeches read from a piece of paper.
I think it's to Oscars disgrace that within 30 secs of Cuba beginning his speech the music cuts in trying to drown him out and move him on like some lowlife. It actually led to one of the most memorable and unforgettable acceptance speeches in the history of the Oscars.
I agree it was so rude of them to do that. They know who to do that to, but it blew up in their faces because this is one of the most if not the Most memorable Oscar speeches in history!
As much as I wanted to see Ed Norton win his first Oscar, after seeing his performance in "Jerry Maguire" and this acceptance speech, Cuba deserved it and rightly so.
One of my least favourite wins. Edward Norton or James Woods should have won. Cuba was not bad but I don’t think he deserved an Oscar. Loved his speech and Billy’s joke afterwards.
Wow, look at the audience with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman together, and Cuba's wife. I was so happy for him and so was everybody there. I hope things are looking up in his life.
I wish all the other Oscar clips from the Academy awards channel left the missing footage in of the actors work prior to the winner being called. I like to see the actors work for what they're being gifted for. This clip is excellent at showing the nominees work.
the worst thing they did was that they snubbed and didnt nominate samuel l. jackson for his supporting role in 'a time to kill' at the 69th academy awards in 1997
I have tears every time when I seen these type of scenes , So much inspirational. And Specially When Africans Won things. as they deserve to be equal rights in the world. :)
Norton or Macy should have won. At least Norton got a Golden Globe for Primal Fear. And How did Norton and Macy careers continue on compared to Goodings?
Brad pitt: i am the most handsome star in Hollywood DiCaprio: I might have put on some weight, but everyone knows I am the best looking star *Tom Cruice enters the chat
Back when Nicole and Tom were together, and Rodman was in the Bulls while double teaming with Hogan or van Damme in Hollywood. While I spent my high school evenings playing Dos games or mountain biking with my friends. God I miss the 90s
Yeah, a devout conservative republican portraying a murderer of blacks winning over a black guy. Guarantee you that wasn't going to happen. Surprised he even got the nomination.
Thats way too rude of the orchestra to play while he is not even in the middle of his speech but thanked God he did one of the best speeches in Oscar history.
Norton or Macy should have won. I really wanted Norton. And l really like Steve Buscemi acting as well. He's been all over the place as far as his career. I loved when he was on the Soprano's.
OMG!!! Alec Baldwin is so handsome!!! That was one of the most memorable acceptance speeches ever. That was the first year that they decided to really use the cue music to strictly enforce the speech time for each winner because people were complaining that the Oscar is too long and it was so restrictive that it was embarrassing and even traumatic for some of the winners. It was so invigorating to see that Cuba Gooding Jr. instead of getting defeated by the music, actually triumphed over the music and made the music work for him in giving his speech!
Do no how i got here. Haven 't see that movie. But i m happy for him. I believe saw him in a movie about the first black American navy diver with the Nero. He made an impression, never give up.
This is like as if this were the part in jerry macguire movie itself..like when he ran and did salto move after he got tackled and blacked out in the movie. Ah..miss the 90s..great movies great actors actresses music rockbands..wow...🔥🔥🔥
I'm actually glad they played the music. It just added to his triumph.
looks like the final scene of a movie lol
@@wendyful Of a good one at that.
If someone asks me the best and most honest reaction after winning the Oscar ever, Ma man Cuba Gooding Jr. That is it.
a b I completely agree
Olivia Coleman
Unfortunately. Nobody will ask you
@@user-iz1nz1jv8o Why not necessary
Then, you dont remember Benigni's reaction.
That wrap it up music turned out to be an inspirational music for his speech like a movie 😂😂😂
There’s a behind the scenes clip showing the director doing it on purpose to hype the moment. It was magical!
So refreshing to hear someone finally speak from their heart with such unrestrained emotion and love for one’s family and co-workers in a totally unrehearsed manner compared to those stiff long-winded speeches read from a piece of paper.
que belo comentário amigo. super concordo com você
Cuba Gooding you TRULY touched my heart and soul with your acceptance speech for your Oscar. You are truly a great actor
That was very nice.
That music hit a switch in his brain lol “oh here we go!”
I think it's to Oscars disgrace that within 30 secs of Cuba beginning his speech the music cuts in trying to drown him out and move him on like some lowlife. It actually led to one of the most memorable and unforgettable acceptance speeches in the history of the Oscars.
Because sometimes the academy places the most racists and mediocres show producers ever.
Everyone gets the same amount of time - every winner can see a countdown for when they have to finish their speech. Cuba nailed it tho.
I agree it was so rude of them to do that. They know who to do that to, but it blew up in their faces because this is one of the most if not the Most memorable Oscar speeches in history!
super concordo
Yeah that's annoying. I think they have gotten better over the years.
Although I was rooting for Norton, Gooding's speech was the best one I've ever heard. Thanks for giving him the award!
I would've yelled: "Tom Cruise, SHOW ME THE MONEEEEEEEY!"
With the music being so loud in the background, I could still hear Will Smith's laugh....
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As much as I wanted to see Ed Norton win his first Oscar, after seeing his performance in "Jerry Maguire" and this acceptance speech, Cuba deserved it and rightly so.
Ed was soo good in that movie though!
Norton should have won. He was awesome in that film.
One of my least favourite wins. Edward Norton or James Woods should have won. Cuba was not bad but I don’t think he deserved an Oscar. Loved his speech and Billy’s joke afterwards.
ive never seen the movie! but I will go watch it now because of this comment lol
@prall0915 So was Cuba. He deserved it and his role and the film is just as iconic today.
WOW! I love his reaction😀
the only time in acceptance speech history at the oscars, did the 'wrap it up' music actually made the speech that much more epic and amazing
‘Thank you God for what you put me to, I’m here and I’m happy’.... true winner!
Wow, look at the audience with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman together, and Cuba's wife. I was so happy for him and so was everybody there. I hope things are looking up in his life.
Show me the money! I mean the Oscar
He made that movie. Jerry Maguire would not have been so interesting were it not for him
This is so similar to when his character in the movie is on the show and he goes emotional after hearing about his new contract.
wow...just like his characters reaction in the climax
That "oh my goodness here we are" was so powerfull
I wish all the other Oscar clips from the Academy awards channel left the missing footage in of the actors work prior to the winner being called. I like to see the actors work for what they're being gifted for. This clip is excellent at showing the nominees work.
That was a tough bunch of performances Cuba was up against but I have to say his performance was outstanding in Jerry Maguire...Deserved to win.
Hahahaha
That was like a movie scene
That was some tough competition that year.congrats Cuba you well deserved it and your speech should of got an Oscar too:)
Primal fear and Edward Norton was amazing. And seeing woody harrelson go crazy for Cuba's speech made me smile.
The thing with Cuba is that he is all heart ❤️all the time. God bless
2022 and still the best speach ever
i know right hihi
Phenomenal movie, and amazing acting. Cuba deserved this, he was memorable and a classic act. Tom cruise deserved best actor too, superb performances.
sem falar da belíssima e inesquecível interpretação de Renée Zellweger
the worst thing they did was that they snubbed and didnt nominate samuel l. jackson for his supporting role in 'a time to kill' at the 69th academy awards in 1997
no, they didnt snub shit
@@wolverineiscool7161 yes they did fool
@Reginald Wilson yeah Nathan Lane for The Birdcage
Love the music the band played as Cuba won. Great job ☝️
Best Oscar speech!
The music was actually helpful and add magic to the moment
So spontaneous and genuine! Loved it!
Can we say this was an outstanding year for this category? And loved that Cuba Gooding Jr. got it, so well deserved!
I have tears every time when I seen these type of scenes , So much inspirational. And Specially When Africans Won things. as they deserve to be equal rights in the world. :)
LOVE CUBA !! GREAT JOB
Alicia Bello Thanks
How awesome that both parts of that memorable movie couple from JERRY MAGUIRE--Gooding and Hall--now have Oscars!
Cuba was great but dang, William H. Macy and Ed Norton were just sublime in their respective roles.
@Reginald Wilson he was nominated for supporting actor, and he should've won
Norton or Macy should have won. At least Norton got a Golden Globe for Primal Fear. And How did Norton and Macy careers continue on compared to Goodings?
Thank you Vivica Fox for being the only one to stand up! 🙌🏾
Yes so happy!!!!! Cuba and Regina were amazing
Gosh, it's the bes grateful man whos rember thest friend in he best moment of the life!
Him winning with this line up is amazing
Just like him in the movie man GREAT 😢
Brad pitt: i am the most handsome star in Hollywood
DiCaprio: I might have put on some weight, but everyone knows I am the best looking star
*Tom Cruice enters the chat
Cruice
As if the looks were the thing that really matters for actors.
Honestly l don't think Leo is aging that well.
I honestly thought Edward Norton was more encompassing in Primal Fear!👍🏻
A part of me thinks Edward Norton should have won but Cuba was just to good in that film
Yeah l'd say Norton and Macy's careers have definitely gone farther.
Best supporting actor only worthy of 30 seconds before you hit the music on him?
RIGHT! I hate that.
Everyone gets the same amount of time otherwise it’s unfair
One of the most naturally gifted actors in history of movie industry.
Back when Nicole and Tom were together, and Rodman was in the Bulls while double teaming with Hogan or van Damme in Hollywood. While I spent my high school evenings playing Dos games or mountain biking with my friends. God I miss the 90s
i love this guy!
I love James Woods, but if he beat out Cuba and Ed Norton that night there may have been a riot.
Yeah, a devout conservative republican portraying a murderer of blacks winning over a black guy. Guarantee you that wasn't going to happen. Surprised he even got the nomination.
This was back in 1997 before James Woods was openly Republican. He's a good actor but his career has been damaged by his political beliefs.
Clint Eastwood was always Republican and he won two Oscar.
Sad that they got divorced :(
THE KING OF THE OSCAR SPEECHES!!!
Good Speech. Everybody, we must learn of Cuba Gooding jr.
Best speech ever. Hands down.
The best acceptance speech ever! I love you ilove you all.
That is how you soak in the feeling of true achievement.
Loved Cuba he deserved it but dammit man Edward Norton was SPECTACULAR in Primal Fear...
Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were still married at that time, what a great image of a beautiful couple. lost forever.
Woody Harrelson at 4.52 what a legend!!
This was awesome. He took to that stage like he'd never win an award again.
Wonder if Cuba remembers this fondly given where he is now…
2:47 love Ed Norton in his American History X look. Two years later (1999) he would turn up in his Fight Club look.
Thats way too rude of the orchestra to play while he is not even in the middle of his speech but thanked God he did one of the best speeches in Oscar history.
They give so much more time now. I feel like they dropped the music when he started to talk about God. Brutal.
I love his speech
Just shows his jerry maguire character was full on cuba 😆 awesome
All of the nominated actors in this category are just phenomenal. Damn, I did not realize all these films came out in that same year.
Needed to smile. Watched this video!
I love how they use Bruce Springsteen's song in 3:30 when he wins Best Actor ... I'd be crying just hearing that.
Steve Buscemi should had been nominated for Fargo too.
Edward Norton the best performance that year .
Norton or Macy should have won. I really wanted Norton. And l really like Steve Buscemi acting as well. He's been all over the place as far as his career. I loved when he was on the Soprano's.
This brings tears to my eyes...pure joy

happy 50th birthday cuba gooding jr !!!
É muito bom ganhar. Ele merece.
Rod himself thanking! GREAT! Ben Carson! Cuba Gooding Jr.! I'm happy to be taking time to discover his movies and enjoying his work!
Walkes up the stage as a kitten 🐈
Exits the stage as a Tiger !!! 🐅
Wow that seemed way to fast but this is probably my favorite award speech of all time.
HE WAS AWESOME
He clipped his heels together 😂 DJ VLAD and Aries Spearz. 😂😂😂
Do no how i got here. Haven 't see that movie. But i m happy for him. I believe saw him in a movie about the first black American navy diver with the Nero. He made an impression, never give up.
Steve Buscemi was way more memorable than William Macy in Fargo
I'd make the argument that Macy should've been in the lead category.
Yeah I can't believe Buscemi has never been nominated for an Oscar
Buscemi should have been nominated alone for this scene from Fargo ua-cam.com/video/Dhm1X1FvC_U/v-deo.html
@@D0ug1997 yea idk how that happened. What was he doing in the supporting category?😂
They were both sooo great in that movie.
I have never heard a happier "Happy"
That character must’ve been quite a stretch for Woods.
Lmao
G2 😂
I’m watching Jerry Maguire right now and had to come see this 😊
Que momento lindo! Ele é ótimo mesmo
Crazy the clip they chose to use for James Woods.
Ikr 😂
Man,that was emotional
I like this guy!
What makes this even funnier is that Tom Cruise ones had a similar moment of ecstatic happiness on Oprah, you remember?
Oh yes, I'll never forget it. And then it didn't last...
Best acceptance speech ever.
Miss Aphrodite Mira Sorvino was SUCH A BEAUTY THAT EVENING !!!!!!! A GODDESS IN MY HONEST BELIEF !!!!
Loved Cuba in jerry maguire
Good competition and a great winner.. 😘
This is beyond epic. wow
Que felicidade, que alegria!!! Tem gente que ganha e nem vai receber.....
Wow I gotta say he was against some pretty big hitters....Ed Norton, James Woods, William Macy, Armin Stahl , all fantastic actors
They all are great in their roles, but Cuba kicked everyone's
a$$ on the speech.
He wasn't acting in the movie, he was himself 😁
This is like as if this were the part in jerry macguire movie itself..like when he ran and did salto move after he got tackled and blacked out in the movie. Ah..miss the 90s..great movies great actors actresses music rockbands..wow...🔥🔥🔥
