- Digital product sales in California are not subject to sales tax, but for sellers who hold a California Seller's Permit you still must file and claim those sales on your sales and use tax return. Here's how you can file a California sales tax return when you sold digital products so you don't owe any sales tax. If the company collects and remits the sales tax for you, they are a marketplace facilitator and you should not need to hold a sellers permit

A sellers permit is not required for digital product sales in California, but some may hold a sellers permit if they intend to sell other types of products.

You are selling tangible products so sales tax does apply however if using a print on demand company, they MAY be a marketplace facilitator, meaning they are the ones who collect AND remit the sales tax for you. You'll want to make sure this is the case.
