I own the Nurburgring Edition of the VXR. And after watching this video I noticed that the vac pipes are in the wrong location which would cause the lag. On the turbo there's the boost solenoid with 3 vac pipes that connect to it. The one on bottom left goes to the back of the turbo. You had it going to the Recirculating valve which is wrong! And the vac pipe that was connected on the bottom left of the boost solenoid should be connected to the Recirculating valve. The one on the top goes to the actuator which was correct. And the one on the bottom right goes to the turbo manifold which was correct. Hope this helps
Hi Josh, This car has been seen by the garage that sold him the car on two occasions and a Vauxhall technician on a couple of occasions so we took it that all hoses were in their correct location. I studied what you said against other Google images and have to agree, what you say looks to be correct. I'll check this out tomorrow and update. Thanks for the info. Cheers Martin
Great video Martin, i'm sure it helps lots of people with this same problem which can be very frustrating when they can't find the fault. Cheers, Jeff.
Hi Martin, Gary should have brought it to you in the first place, would have saved a bit of money, One of the things i like about you is that you are not afraid to tackle anything. Great video, looking forward to the next one.
TBH Dave, Gary found the info after putting it in the hands of the garage who sold him the car with no joy, I just put it together in a vid for everyone. Cheers Martin
I had the same problem with the lag in 6th gear it would surge on and off with power. I put a larger diameter exhaust on, not had the same problem since.
Hi mate great video not a lot of room in there a handy tool you can get is a hand vacuum pump you can put vacuum on the valve and you can read live data to see if the Reading change the tool is inexpensive but can be used for lots of things on your engine
If you ever get that turbo chatter at higher revs like yours is doing, something still not right, Id always be looking at the recirc valve (which you changed), boost sensor pipes on turbo correct and also rear boost sensor under inlet as the pipe which controls the oe dump valve popped off most of the time.
Hey MARTIN,Alistair here from SOUTH Africa, I have a problem with o my opc h now for almost 8 months, replaced the turbo core as the car was smoking but had the issue of boost before that, swopped over coilpack and boost control solinoid, issue still remains, when I accelerate my car through gears normally car is OK but the moment accelerate hard from 1st right through to 6th gear I get interference with boost as if the car is struggling to build up boost, what might the issue be.
Great vid Martin. Common problem on the Vxr you are best using the up rated spring they are great cars my brother has £15k+ in his Vxr running stage 3.5 with ko6 Hybrid Turbo ,6 pot brakes on front and vectra vxr brake conversion on the back Cheers Jamie
did the same on an sri turbo version a few years ago martin tighter than a nuns... im sure we did it from the underside when re assembleing for more room. PS your driveway looks really difrent and i cant put my finger on why/whats missing 😂
Good old leh engine His new part not very good mate he should of got the forge 1 ( I had same problem) If he still gets the problem tell him to get the blue spring as that will be better for the vxr
Delete that cross over pipe. That removes alot of flat spots throughout the rev range. Courtenay sport do a direct hose from the turbo to the air filter
@@juanburger1267 it's the pipe that goes over the top of the head. He removes it in the video. You can buy a cross over delete or use the air box off the diesel turbo
That boost control solenoid is set up wrong. Vac line for the recirc should come from the inlet, nothing to do with the actuator. Ive built these engines over 600 hp
I haven't been subbed long to be honest but great vids mate and if he still getting the same thing down the line tel him I no what the problem is it's a Vauxhall 💩

If you swap them into there correct location it'll boost how it should again.
Just done it Josh, works a treat now. I have done a part 2 vid to this and it will be up later.
Well spotted bud.

Glad to help! And pleased this fixed the boost issue. Bet she goes better now

Yes Jeff, Many people with a lag problem but not much out there on this upgrade.

Nice one mate , love my Halfords 1/4 drive set too , also love how the Astra vxr has monster torque steer . Keep it up
The Halfords professional stuff is great for the money and yes, monster torque steer on full chat lol
I had the same problem with the lag in 6th gear it would surge on and off with power. I put a larger diameter exhaust on, not had the same problem since.
Nice work Martin. Turbo cars are always a so harder to work on since you got such little space to work in! I have the same problem with my 2.0t.
Yes, things are very tight in modern cars, give me an older car to work on anyday lol
Great share Martin . Those tend to be a problem ! Thumbs up man..
It's a common thing Shawn as you said.

i have thought about one of those Leon but not got round to getting one yet as these are not my cars.
hi on my vxr im getting turkey noise when i boost and let off is mine same problem ?
Very good guide to a common problem on these
Thanks Andy, I take it you have a VXR by your UA-cam name.
retrorestore used to have a astra for 3 years recently sold it due to work commitments miss it

It's running fine now. The pipes were crossed but once we changed them Everything is now fine.
Great stuff.

Don't know, You might want to plug in a diagnostic reader to see if there are any codes.
hi there what would be the cause to have more response of half throttle than full throttle when i put my foot down its like if it dont go no were ?
get it on a diagnostic meter bud. that should throw some light on it.
@@retrorestore thank you so much will get it on obd reader on the weekend
What size are Allen screws? 8mm?
Another good video and fault cure. Only 25 quid? A Bargain, I just spent $300 on a strut replacement. Betcha that Astra goes like stink!
It's really quick Bri. $300, It does pay to DIY lol
I took the whole turbo/manifold out to change mine haha spent hours trying to fit my hands in with an allen key with the turbo on
You know then Jayden, a right pain but it's the same with all modern cars I think.
nice one martin goood video as allways
Thanks Chris
Has he considered doing an airbox swap from a 1.9cdti to get more air into the engine too?
I'll let him know that.
Cheers

If I get a new turbo , does that mean the recirc valve on it is new ?
Don't know, sorry.
Nice result Mart, Gary will be chuffed.
