Thanks a lot. Managed to break the adjustment screw and it was nice to see how to get it out. I did have an extra pair of hands and it is easier to remove if you can push and lift from both ends at the same time so keeping the plastic insert more parallel. It popped out really easily this way.
Appreciate the video buddy. Happened to me in a similar fashion, lucky i had another ms 290 to rob the tensioner from so i didn't have to make a trip into town
I have a Stihl 024AVS and although when I got the saw it came without the tensioner, I'm almost CERTAIN, it uses a different tensioner mechanism. I believe it comes out the front, near the bar. It uses a slide (I believe) much like this one only slightly different. Also my side cover does not have the slot for that mechanism. It also only uses ONE nut for the side cover, not two like other similar models. For the life of me I cannot find what I believe to be the correct tensioner for the 024AVS
I had it in the title but only 1 person viewed the video. I took MS271 out because the 261, 211, 462, etc... all have the exact same Tensioner Unit with the same torx screw to remove it.
il n'y a rien de compliqué, pas nécessaire de chipoter avec un tournevis, suffit de dévisser la vis torque à l'avant du tendeur et simplement tirer sur la vis de réglage avec une pince et le système sort tout seul, There is nothing complicated to remove it, no need to fiddle with a screwdriver, just unscrew the torque screw at the front of the tensioner and simply pull on the adjustment screw with pliers and the system comes out by itself,

Good information but terrible lighting and terrible aim with the camera as well.
Steve Curtis kind of hard working a camera, torque scrench, and maneuvering a chainsaw with 2 hands buddy.
@@GnarCity187 You should have a friend do the camera and lighting while you do the work. You provided the information I needed though thank you.
hey man label your video so its says ms 271 in the title will help more people. thanks

He must be tweaking in the dark
Thanks for the video, I broke my tensioner and had no clue how to do this. Appreciate it. Just joined. Check us out, we are trying to grow as well.
Your picture is too dark and camera moves around too much.
no light
Too dark, your shadows cover up what I need to see
No disrespect, but you need to watch a video on how to make a clear video, with a steady camera and good lighting.
Needs better lighting
Terrible. Can't see
