yes, you can link up to 4 together , but after 2 , no more recording. the FAT channel stays with each board and you adjust the channels associated with the specific board on that FAT channel control. the boards track auxes as well, so you select aux 1 and you have all the aux 1 ready to adjust all channel sends across all boards....hope this helps.
Yes, sure can, It is Not just live but in recording studios as well. Presonus has some videos on Studio setup where some studios are using this board and some of their preamps to record to protools and make CD's, etc.
You need the software loaded on the Mac and this is the min. requirements for a M-Audio unit. They have the manual, etc. on their website to download. Minimum System Requirements (Mac) Mac G3/G4* 500 MHz OS X 10.2.8, 256 MB RAM or OS X 10.3.5 / 10.4.1 / 10.5.2 w/ 512MB RAM Onboard FireWire connection or installed IEEE1394 PCI card *G3/G4 accelerator cards not supported OS X 10.3.5 or later required for Dolby Digital and DTS pass-through with Apple DVD player.
@massore1 you may need to upgrade the boards firmware to talk to the version of capture you are using. Also make sure you have the ID's set to 1 and 2 on the boards. We never had an issue with the boards not seeing the capture software. Scroll down the inputs and you should see all the channels.
@JoabVillescas12 Unfortunately, no, you don't get 12 auxes, the 6 gang together between boards. Yes recording still works fine with two linked. Sub groups can be separated or combined as well. In link mode all subgroups feed to the master board, in un link mode each board has its own subgroups...but I believe can still be routed to masters...that one I have not attempted yet. We always used in the sub group link mode.
@starclassic71 linking the consoles the auxes of both boards are sent to aux 1-6, you could really get 8 if you don't want to use the EFX's, both boards send channels to auxes 1-6
@santimusicgroup yes, with the Capture Software you can record all 32 channels of the boards. I am not sure about other recording interfaces or software that would be connected by FireWire to the board, but the Capture works great ! Especially on a Mac Book Pro
@SlimJayOfficial the song in the background of most of the video is from Apple out of iMovie, the one playing when we connect the boards is by Casting Crowns.
@andrewantosik make sure the software version on the boards is the same and the universal control. you can't use older firmware with newer UC software. you may need to do an update. also make sure you are set for ID 1 . also power up your mac first, then try connecting the SL board and see if that is a work around too, but first check firmware issues vs. UC revisions.

@gvozdinas You can connect two 24.4.2 and have no recording or you can connect two 16.4.2 and have recording, or connect 3-4 with no recording. You cannot connect a t 24.4.2 and a 16.4.2, different hardware and software running boards.

Unfortunately that board is no longer made and had gone by the wayside...if you are picking up wireless you have bad cables somewhere or something connected is acting like an antenna to wireless signals, start by disconnecting everything and add in one at a time until you find the offending connection.

If you link two or more consoles does it truly increase your number of aux sends/monitor mixes so that all channels can be routed to any aux send or can they only be sent to the respective console that they are on?

This config will allow you to use all 6 auxes and the 2 effects engines and route all channels to 1-6 or 7&8 from either board.

The subgroups may be combined or separate depending on your needs. The master fader of the slave board is disabled...

Each channel has its own EQ as well as the auxes, subgroups, and the mains have 31 band eq.

capture with the two boards linked correctly will record all 32 channels plus L/R outs
