Excellent Video. One more little thing -- you can usually just carefully rotate and wiggle the door handle unit, push it back through the panel and the panel will come off leaving the handle unit still attached to the door. Do the reverse when you re-assemble the door panel. Saves a couple tricky steps.
Its 2019 and I think manual cranks should still be used in cars today. My electric window on the drivers side doesn't work on my current vehicle and my last two cars had broken electric cranks on the driver side. I'm cursed to open my door when ever I get fast food.
Preaching to the choir, I agree. My manual crank window on my Honda had went out only once in over 20 years while I have seen multiple electrical fail. Don't get me wrong, I love the convenience of electric and would not rent a car without electric one push down windows haha :D but for a car I plan to keep forever manual windows along with manual transmission are my favs
Plastic parts age and manual regulators can fail, I can buy a new electric regulator but not manual regulators - but maybe not ten years from now. Somebody needs to sell a kit for repairing manual regulators. There can't be much that breaks in these.
2022 here and every vehicle I've owned has had manual windows, 2000 neon, 95 dakota, 89 jeep, 74 plymouth and even my 2011 ranger has them. Currently fixing the Plymouth because the glass fell off the roller lol but I'll take it over and electrical failure any day
Thank god you have a 95 cus it’s hard to find a 95 civic to watch videos on and I have a 95 hatchback and my regulator finally gave out on me and snapped my driver side window in half
Haha I'm just glad there are folks out there still showing love to these cars and want to keep them running. Glad the video was helpful and appreciate you taking the time to comment
Thanks for the thoughtful response, really appreciated! It's always good to hear my style is headed in correct direction to be able to make video that are clear for folks
This is a great instructional video, thanks so much. Curious why these tend to jam up / get hard to crank like this, and eventually need replacement of the regulator. I have no foreign objects in the track. Is it just water gets into the regulator and corrodes it? Would greasing up entry points help any? Suggested grease or sealant? Regards,
I wondered the same when my window regulator first malfunctioned. I honestly think just elongation of cable from repeated use and possibly foreign debris intrusion somehow causes jams.
Haha the dreaded window stuck in down position. Hopefully its warm and dry where you are. Mist likely your regulator has broken and needs replacement. I'd suggest to diagnose is to take the door panel off and take a look at what's going! on
another way to get the clip out of the hand crank is to use a small towel. run it down behind the handle and gently move back and forth- the clip will pop out. Less chance of scratching or damaging things.
haha it's a gut check when you go to roll up the window and nothing happens. Never know how good you have it until cold air is blasted you in face lol. Thanks for letting me know your thoughts on video and hope the install goes well!
In my situation the hand crank manual window is stuck in the up position. I can’t turn the hand crank at all to lower to window so I can loosen the bolts where they attach to the window.🤔
Perfect explanation; thank you. Please tell me this; on my old truck, there is no run channel/guide. Does that matter? With the new regulator installed, will my glass still roll up and down inside of the door frame without a 'guide'? My thought was to put a soft wedge in there to keep the glass from rattling. doable? Thanks you so much! Kevin
Hmm I've never come across that scenario. My belief is your window will go up and down but could tilt to either side easily and need to be shifted back from time to time.
@@EngineeredMojo Yeah! thanks; I can work with that :) Guess I need to find a video on how to replace the run channel...that's not a cheap part at all. Really appreciate your thoughts and taking the time to answer. You rock sir!
Thank you for a beyond helpful video!! So over all the talk too fast, annoying useless music in the background, and big gaps in the process. This video was perfect. Thank you so much. Please do all the tutorials on everything.
Haha, I plan to cover most items I run across in my life with a tutorial if it seems it will be helpful. Glad the tutorial was helpful and appreciate the feedback :)
Glad the video was helpful! And I have a video on that, at least fixing the e brake cables. Usually your light stays on because your brake fluid level is low in the resevoir or the sensor connected to hand brake is faulty
It'll be very similar, same tools should apply and 10mm socket. The frame is a bit different for the accord but it's still a Honda sedan and/or coupe of same generation so it won't be too much different. I'd suggest either amazon or online retailer such as rock auto. Ebay also will have a selection of parts and it's easy to search. Hope that helps!
did you just get the window crank off without popping the clip off? if so, that is a pretty slick trick! i hope i can do that because i am scared of losing the clip on my 85 toyota tercel! i also like your calm way you explain things and that you treat your car with respect and not brutality, lol - also, i really appreciate the excellent camera work, especially on door handle removal but all of it is so good.
Appreciate the detailed feedback! Always good to know the video is well received and helpful. I had to pop the clip, but I used the flathead screwdriver trick in the video to get it off. Popping it back on is easy with clip in place, just pushes right back in. I do know some autoparts stores will sell generic hand crank clips for the unlucky ones who lose the clip haha, I speak from experience on another car.
Very good video. I have a similar car. The manual regulator is fine. What is the name of the part the glass sits in. This is broken for me and is separte from the reulayor. Thanks
I stuffed an old rag or t shirt in the top window gap to create friction to hold window up. And the window will just slide nicely right into place on the track when you bring it back down
I would loosen the mounting bolts and try to realign bracket / move window up and down to see if bracket was misaligned. If that doesn't help, the regulator may be faulty from manufacturer so I'd check that with it removed from car and try to rotate handle around a few times
My manual roll up window doesn't like to stay up at all like you can get it to come down with putting your hand on window and pull it down, which makes it easy to break into any idea what I can do to fix the issue??
Have you changed the track assembly and regulator? Seems like the locking gearing is failing on you. Until you fix the window, you can always place rags, tshirt or something that can fit in between groove and window to cause friction if someone tries to push window down
@@EngineeredMojo I haven't done nothing to it it's done it since I got it and I figured there has to be something up with it because you shouldn't be able to just push the window down with your hand from the outside of the car or even in the inside of the car unless your using the handle like Normally but I'm just going to take off the door panel and see. Now you said there is some kind of door regulator or something??
@@06kylerick No problem I understood. You can try it, but I believe the mounting brackets are slightly different. If they are, you can possibly tap new mounting holes in the door if you really didn't want to buy another regulator. Hopefully they align.
