In my opinion.. one of their best live shows was a video they put out called “awesome, I F’n shot this”. Live show from Madison square garden where they gave random fans camcorders and then record whatever. If you get a chance.. check it out.
damn thats amazing. I just remembered I have the Video set from the Criterion Collection released Y2k and I never even opened it, but this era. There's a poster! My plan for the day is sorted
Same here. Came across from Peebles with a car full of mates. Atmosphere was electric. I remember it being a warm, sunny May evening. Still have the ticket stub. £17.50😂
Dude, I saw the premiere of this show on MTV. I was lucky enough to see the B Boys 7 times. Nothing compares to their live shows. I mean NOTHING! After I leave this message I’m hitting subscribe. I can tell you’re not in this for the wrong reasons. I’d like to point something out that I haven’t heard you say. If you notice, they have never and would never rap over their own tracks like so many “rappers” these days. Everything was always live and no backing tracks ever. Hip hop shows these days are lame as shit. They just mumble over their recordings. The BBoys were always live and full of tons of energy. Best group ever!
Beastie Boys worked hard for years, more than most bands. They never stopped experimenting and trying new things so they evolved and learned a lot. They started in 1981, you are watching the result of almost 20 years of evolution and work.
So glad someone reacted to this! Masters of remixing songs live on stage. I rewatch this at least once a year. Their show in Madison garden was also great called Awesom I F'in Shot That
Beastie boys actually have 2 instrumental albums the mix up and the in sounds from way out where they are just playing instruments both are really groovy
@@michaelfschein2 it was at the Los Angeles show. I had to excuse myself and enjoy the set from the safety of the periphery. Then the Smashing Pumpkins came on after as the headliner and was just a big downer after the sheer joyous madness the Boys gave us.
You should totally learn to mix! Grandmaster Flash streams here and elsewhere live tues noon and thus 8 pm ET. He shouted me out on stream a few weeks ago and I can die happy now. Also there is a nice 808 emulator online I'm playing with on bandlab for free. I'm trying to recreate that Paul Revere backmasked beat when I'm bored. It's not going well hahaaha If it helps anyone, Trauma Research Foundation did a hip hop workshop aimed at middle/upper grade students that everyone can enjoy. So it obviously starts real super basic but in six weeks they guide through all the elements to help people find it as a skill to heal. It's on the TRF channel here maybe 2 years ago. Give it to the kids! Try it yourself, nobody will hear unless you want em to :)
Beasties were a punk band before they gravitated to rap. Soulfure, Heart Attack Man, Remote Control, all hark back to their Punk roots. Punk and rapping are kissing cousins.

Definitely never seen anybody rock a show start to finish in hip hop like that. Ever! Classic concert! LEGENDS!
Subscribing now.
Man, I miss the world with Beastie Boys live. Glad I got to see them, in the same year as this show... Same tour in UK actually.
I’m gonna do a 44 minute live show of them in Japan

I love how they did this in the round like a boxing match. And this was a small crowd for them. Mixmaster Mike always owns it. Love.
Paul's Boutique and Hello Nasty are the vinyls you need, dude.
I was there, it was mental. Glaswegians hit hard!

The Craig Mack beat in So What You Want was so freaking tasty. Chef's kiss.
I saw them at Lollapalooza. Second song was “Shake Your Rump” and I almost died in the frenzy of the mosh pit. They stir a crowd up!

I saw them on that tour, they didn't even headline. But this much is indisputable, they stole the fuckin' show. Hands down.
Paul's Boutique is a masterpiece in sampling.

Nice job, dude. Liked and Subbed. Beastie fanatic right here 👍

That was great! Thanks so much! BTW, this is not one of their bigger crowds. :) Congrats on 400 subscriptions.
Thanks appreciate it
They let Mix Master Mike do whatever he wanted during the songs, so he would always switch it up on the boys. They are masters of staying on beat.
It’s fire !!!
sweet!! never seen this!
Great reaction new subscriber
Thanks !!!!

MM Mike is the f***ing man...great reaction
Thanks sub for more !
@@dame313 loved your reaction. Can you react to another live show? If you can I recommend doing a show they did in Sydney, Australia in 1999
I actually think Mix Master Mike was off his game on this show. Don't know if it was technical difficulties or what?
watch some of the Invisible Skratch Pickles to see some amazinf mixmaster shit
