You will be remembered as a legend
💖
LEGEND WE MISS U YAUCH
Forever
RIP to the rap god.
Bumping from a young dumbass kid to a grown adult now.
RIP MCA… I remember “She’s On It!” on a TV station called U-68. It sounded like a surfer rock song but I was okay with that. I liked that sort of music. Then when the “Paul Revere/a-It’s The New Style” 12” single came out, it was a wrap, I was hooked on the Beasties. Hip Hop broke ground with mixtures of beats ti make brand new cutting edge beats and instrumentals. The entire background music played backwards. Who ever thought of that. The beat of the following song sounding like a hard rock song but it is throws you through a loop because the placement of the bass and snare are switched up a little bit. Since PE is uo there, might as well mention how “Rebel Without A Pause” shook things up. Hip Hop needs to get back to that. Ground breaking beats but not Ultimate Break Beats. That’s old.
If Chuck D has your back, you know you're legit!
Yep
Chuck D for president
Thats 100. Coming from a homie from iceland

I can never imagine LL and Chuck D inducting Beastie Boys into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. LEGENDARY!!!
I met Chuck d at Universal studios with his family and no one notice him. I was shaking because I couldn't believe it was him. I walk up to him and told him what he meant to me and hip hop and he thank me and I shook his hand.
Chuck D, what a guy. Imagine getting props like this from him.
Chuck dee knows the deal for real
call elvis a thief and a racist, but praises the beastie boys? they were both pioneers of their genre
Saw Public Enemy open for the Beasties on the Licensed to Ill tour in 87. My jaw dropped. Straight amazing and life changing.
Thatt must've been a great night, my 1st rap concert was in 88, Public enemy, Run dmc, Derek b, in Brixton Academy, with never forget it..... Still have the ticket stub
@@gowmitch069 Shit, my first hip hop concert was Eminem Anger Management in 01. Shit was crazy
Same! Loved it!!!
Seen Beasties 3 times, the energy with dj hurricane is insane, best shows I've ever seen
@@gowmitch069 saw beastie boys in Brixton academy in 2007. Awesome night
Any man who can smile and say "yes, I quote myself" is a legend
I don't care what people say, LL Cool J should be in the rock & roll hall of fame. It's long overdue.
I agree. Such an influence on today's music whether people know or not.
I thought he was 😳
So should biggie.
Ehhhh, probably not. Beasies got in because they are an actual band. They're punk rock kids, playing instruments, who had a disturbing amount of rhythm. So much so that they had to create a new style to be classified. That style? Beastie Boy style. You can't categorize an original.
LL, Biggie, and many others have certainly influenced music including some rock, and I F'in love them, but they are MCs with a mic, not musicians with an instrument.
@@citisoccer So how do you explain Pac in the HOF?
Very accurate about RUNDMC bringing rap to the edge of suburbia and the Beasties driving it straight into town. Very very beautiful way to put it
Absolutely!
In 1985 I was listening to Run DMC in the suburbs on the edge of town in Adelaide, South Australia. I enjoyed the Beastie Boys, but they never quite caught my attention like Run and Public Enemy. I now know the BBs were seminal, and i'm loving revisiting the sounds of my teenage years with new ears.
Chuck D has the voice of All Time, Word too LL.
First heard “Bass! How low can you go?” From Chuck and “My radio believe Me I like it loud” from LL. Been listening to these cats ever since.
Greatest rap voice period...nobody does it better. All hail the B Boys too.
Chuck D should be a pastor/reverend for a church. He is so good at speaking and has such great "punch" in his words
chuck D is the morgan freeman of hip-hop. his voice is like butter
The Rhyme Animal!!
Towards the end LL Cool J looks choked up with gratitude for the help and props he got off The Beastie Boys at the start of his career.
They get LL and Chuck's respect so that's more than good enough for me.
I was not emotionally prepared for that but so dope LL shared that. You can tell it was very meaningful to him.
Chuck D is one of the great public speakers of my generation. Also, he has integrity.
Great speaker!
"I know I can read it from the teleprompter, but I wrote it down"
“It takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back” is the f*cking bomb…Period!
“Daddy-O
Once said to me
He knew a brother who stayed all day in his jeep
And at night he went to sleep
And in the mornin' all he had was
The sneakers on his feet
The culprit used to jam and rock the mike, yo
He stripped the jeep to fill his pipe
And wander around to find a place
Where they rocked to a different kind of bass…Come on Y’all.”
This is amazing to have Chuck D and LL induct the Beasties!.......WOW!!!!
I grew up on Beastie Boys. I did a rendition of "Intergalactic" for an English class back in 99'. I changed the words to tell the story of "Beowulf". These guys were the soundtrack of my childhood. Hat's off to you true pioneer's! No one, or group, will ever fill their shoe's!!!!
I remember Beowulf. That's Awesome!
@@vampgrl79 Honestly I had no idea who Beowulf was when I made the song. I was supposed to read the book but never did, I just knew he was a badass of some sort. I got an "A" for it though lol. But now I have read the novel, and enjoy the movie! The movie with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Anthony Hopkins is one of my favorite movies of all time now. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it!!!
I remember studying Beowulf! How innovative to use Intergalatic to explain a poem about a great hero. Glad you got an A 🙂
When I moved into the dorms my first year in college in 1989, I had way--way more stereo than school supplies.
One of the first albums I played really loud was the B. Boys. Made a lot of friends after that, they called my room the "headphone".
Still have that same vinyl.
I Sean all that stuff when thay was punk then whent hip hop
Love this. Chuck D is such a class act.
Chuck be preaching.
RIP MCA.
I grew into adulthood with Beastie Boys, same age. Got to see them in 1992 with L7 and House of Pain and in 1994 a Lollapalooza. I love those dudes. Thanks Adam, Adam and Mike.❤
I saw that tour here in Vancouver that same year. They played at The Commodore Ballroom. We’re so lucky, being able to talk about legendary experiences like this.
The Beastie Boys' "Licensed To Ill" was a phenomenon. I was in college in Thousand Oaks & even when visiting South L.A. we absolutely LOVED these guys.
I have watched this probably 20 times, and just realized what L said, DMC ran rap up to the edge of suburbia and the Boys drove it straight down town... I am 49, this is the best way to explain the early to late 80's and rap and R&B
Hip hop and rock have so much in common at the roots of their culture. A healthy disrespect for authority, a willingness to explore outside boundaries. The genres are two sides of the same coin, and fit so well together when people embrace them.
i’ve been saying this for ages!
especially Punk music. Blondie was already talking about Fab Five Freddy in Rapture
what about $too short$ iron maiden. Judas priest . the scorpions. the west coast heavy metal bands w. a. s. p. the original infamous black list of parental advisory committee led by tipper gore. when when. i wish Razor rant could help us . the condor69

Paul's Boutique is still a top 5 favorite album of all time for me. Fantastic album

Hip hop transcends race. What a beautiful example of how things can be!
🤔
In the 80s we made fun of each other. But we never forgot how to party with each other. Did I say EACH other?? There was no such thing back then. Weze Americans.
Well the left have made damn sure we all know what color we all are now
Lots of us struggling along in society. Working hard, being hard (legal) and keepin it real. That's life, no matter race. Hip hop helped us along through thick and thin. Big up to Chuck D and the Beastie boys.
Chuck, Cool J and the Beastie Boys are behemoths in the art form of music. So awesome to see this. RIP MCA.

The Beastie Boys are still one of my favorite rap group of all time when getting signed to DefJam Recordings & Capital Records & they were still successful & i am still sad that MCA is still gone & he will never be forgotten.
just watched LLs induction 2021. CLEARLY it was a long time in the making for the GOAT.
WOW Chuck D blows me away. Dude is fucking brilliant.
one of the best moments in TV history and rock and roll history go beasties 🎉
This is an amazing speech. Wow. He nails everything. Thanks for sharing.
Beastie Boys were an amazing group! They made some of the best hip hop albums of all time and each one was unique and well written and played! Their samples were on point, they were dumpster divers finding new and interesting sounds to pull from with a plethora of possibilities. The intelligence and talent that came through those albums and shows cannot be quantified. I could go on and on but in closing I would like to say a big Thank You to Adrock, Mike D and MCA (R.I.P)
not rock, but RR hall of fame is bs anyway
Dude it's not even the samples, they're well chosen, obviously, but it's the sounds the DJ can make just by scratchin'. Beastie Boys is simple. You get 3 really good MCs and a world class Record Scratchin' DJ, not the Playback and Mix type but the type that made new sounds out of their instrument.
Two legends inducting a seminal group. Awesome job, Chuck D and LL Cool J.
LL And Public Enemy deserve to be in the Rock n Roll hall of fame! And plenty more
Not LL but PE yes
Why would a rap group belong in the Rock n Roll HOF? They're not rock.
@@tamilashultz9676 Because hip hop has been inducted in the past. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were the first hip hop group inducted
@@nikki2sox I am aware. They shouldn't be there either. They're not rock n roll.
Maybe get yourself acquainted with what rock n roll is. To quote the great Chuck D, "We ALL came from the BLUES." Rock n roll was created by black folks. Period. Get familiar.
This is a phenomenal induction speech...
Good lord, what a speech by two legends. RIP Yauch
Chuck D. Forever the icon, the mind, the dissident, and the voice of hip hop. You gave us so much man. Thank you.

I used to play the beastie boys for my nephew when he was about seven years old and he and I used to ride around town jamming to their music and he would ask every time he got in my car, for me to put on the beastie boys! His dad (my brother) used to play their music for me when we would ride around together and then I got to share with him! I love this!
I'm so glad MCA lived long enough to see this. He passed about 20 days after this was broadcast. RIP Adam.
So grateful, as a gen x, to have witnessed all of this, from the beginning.
B Boys Fire. Chuck D Public Enemy FIRE. LL Cool J Fire. Crew up in the 80s and Im grateful for all yall. Cheers from deeep in the Catskill Mts NY.
Man this is love.... chuck-D talking about just living in the house..........
I was never into beastie boys in high school. They were just fine to because I never actually paid real attention. Was into a lot of punk and hardcore. Funny that now as an adult I'm honestly completely blown away by Paul's Boutique and how catchy and badass it is. First time hearing it I'm thinking holy shit this is awesome how did I miss this??? But it's also beautiful feeling something new and refreshing that is old and was right under my nose all along. Beautiful thing about music and art.
Paul's Boutique, like all of Beastie Boys records, is/are punk rock. Glad you are now on board!
When they started out they were hardcore punk
My favorite Rap group of all time! Paul’s Boutique is the best album ever! Love you guys! Since the mid 80s you guys were a huge influence on my life!
The Dust Brothers

I've seen the Beasties twice in concert in my life. Once when they weren't too popular, and then a few years later when they got popular again. So, a smaller venue and then a big arena. I'm right about their age. It's been fun growing up with them, because if *they* can still be cool....then maybe that means I can still be cool, too. : ) #genx
If you grew up in the 80 and were in HS like me from 85-89 the BB were the soundtrack of your youth. Mind blowing

It’s 2024 and this fad has lasted 50 YEARS!

Pauls broke the mold, they got the Dust brothers and made someting never heard before, still one of the best albums ever made of any musical form
I got so fuckin' lucky to see the Beastie Boys and Run DMC, live, in the summer of 1987. I think I still have my tshirt I bought at the show. Me and my high school friends went to the show in Sacramento, CA, and we were in the middle of the crowd when I couldn't take it and had to be pulled out because I was too short and getting pulled under - I will NEVER forget being passed up to the front of the CalExpo stage by the crowd, seeing the Beasties from UPSIDE DOWN before the stage crew at the front pulled me out of the crowd and onto my feet under the stage. Instead of kicking me out of the arena they let me back in, and I met up with my friends at our van after the show.
I'll be 54 in a few days (how the FUCK did that happen?!) and my memories of summer '87 will never be forgotten. I consider myself blessed to be a witness to artists like the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five and so many others as they changed the face of modern music.
This short pudgy white chick who always loved language and word play was entranced by rap and hip hop, and I feel blessed to have been a witness to the birth of a brand new kind of music called rap/hip hop in my lifetime. I bow down to the artists who've made an impact on my soul with their words and music. I cannot thank these artists enough.
LL Cool J is the Tom Cruise of Hip Hop. The man just doesn´t age. He was 44 in this video.
44 isn't old. I'm in my 40s.

I went and saw Mike and Adam and MM Mike for their book tour around 2018. It was huge. Also so nostalgic to celebrate their careers and memories of Yauch with them in a smaller theatre. It was definitely a 'goodbye'.
Love the Beasties. Their rap and hip hop style kicks ass but it was their ability to pick up their own instruments and rock the house that really set them apart from so many others and help them get into the RRHOF.

Chuck D.. Greatest Rap voice of all time...
Damn, LL is a class act. Chuck is solid. What a good induction.
Beastie Boys pushed the envelope of what music can be, they could rap like no other and play those instruments like no other, truly a one of a kind band. Musical geniuses as they influence music so much they were often the first to try it and have been copied ever since... as an example "flute loop" is so amazing, " hey! Give me a beat any beat ! I’ll rhyme to the beat and keep you on your feet" . Back in the day no one would have dared such a move but they rhymed over a flute loop... but again it’s just one example of their talent and if you don’t know about their album "the in sound from way out " you should listen to it since they all studied in music , and if you like a funky groove put on a seat belt.. sincerely in a musical sense, my life would probably feel empty without the beastie boys....
AWESOME Chuck intro💥👍, LL bringing it home💥👍

But if I would have been the guy thatcgave this speech to induct them? I'd have said it in ONE sentence...
"They have ALWAYS been five years cooler than the rest of us ever realized!"
I never got to see the Beasties live in person, they are one group who I severely regret never having seen but I will alway love their music. I still argue with the ignorant people who like to argue that they were a rock band because they had only heard sabotage. Anyway all that they were was brilliant musicians and deeply missed for all the art that they created.
Today’s rap is shit. It’s sad because it was once such a great form of expression. Talent is talent and the cream always rises to the top. Side note LL doesn’t get enough credit for branching out as an artist and never afraid to do what he wants regardless of anyone’s opinion
It's not just Rap...it's everything that's coming out of the bands, artists, and the recording industry. Young fans and kids are being ripped off by the swill they're pumping out. And, it's been going on for so long they know no different.
Word up
you just are not looking at the right place because there ton of good rap in todays world it's not the early 2000s and late 2010s anymore where almost every artist was just doing the same thing. run the jewels, JPEGMafia, Brockhamton, Denzel curry and there is a ton more that music in the past 5 or 6 years has been better than than what we got in those time frames.
