Good tips and techniques. 👍🏼
I’ve successfully used the real alcantara product on my old Porsche, (with no foam). I did not want to deal with degrading foam again. I used the 3M headliner spray (on both surfaces). There was zero glue bleed through, and while it was tricky, it worked out perfectly and stuck strong. It’s been holding solid for three years in Florida. As you say, getting the old foam off the card is critical to success. It took me two days to completely clean that small Porsche headliner. I used a gallon of acetone to thoroughly wipe it down after removing the old sticky greasy foam padding. Now, I have to do my other old car! I’m trying a much less expensive “fake” alcantara (pre-backed with foam) product on my much larger F10 BMW. The fake stuff is a bit more elastic, but you really don’t want to be stretching anything, or else it may pull off there in time. Watching you vids for a refresher before I dive in (again).
