The Captain should just have given himself a discount code and gone all out.
Special one day only owner discount of 99% off.
lol "i dont know what to tell you, Rob, the shop owner just straight up gifted me this Dual Rec"
Would have been a goat move.
LMAO That would have been hilarious.
He didn't need to as Chappers disqualified himself. Bish, bash, bosh...!
Lee's rig is best, but he had no need for the overdrive pedal, that amp sounded great and had plenty of drive. should have picked the blue crystal delay at £40 instead of the durple and would have really added something extra.
I thought the same. Didn’t understand why he didn’t go for something time based to make it sound even bigger, but he’s not either of us 🤷 If you’re gonna add another gain stage, do fuzz!
Couldnt agree more
This is the kind of video that brings back the old chemistry. Brilliant even though Lee mentioned Rob’s junk. Pete’s editing is absolutely essential for a 🔥Chappers and Captain video.
This is where I can jump in and take the credit for the edit💕 Glad you like it!😀
@@ozpowell6589 if you are the artist who edited this vid then my hat's off to you. It was a standout.
I appreciate it man haha. I started about 2 months ago, hence the increased cursed-ness of videos... as long as all you lot like it then I've got no plans on stopping!
@@ozpowell6589 Thank you for bringing back the beach ball. It was sorely missed.
@@truetom I'm a long-term fan, same as so many others here watching this video like they have done for years. Disappearing mugs and flying beach balls are expected... I don't aim to disappoint!😅
The db meter is so sensitive, it's registering their inner monologue😳
Monologue is something else :)
@@xferme I think you didn't get the joke as monologue seems correct. He's making a joke about the db meter being so sensitive it picks up the thoughts in your head.
@@xferme That voice thing is literally called an inner monologue... Internal monologue to be accurate.
As much as I love Orange and I think they really own that budget, high-quality mini amp market, I can't believe how great of a value that Bugera 22 watt tube amp is. And I like the Squier Mustang more than a Squier tele. I liked Lee's rig more.
I will say Bugera's heads are priced on point with the Super Crush series from Orange, and the Bugeras allow you to swap tubes old and new, without biasing, so they're much cheaper to own and maintain in the long run.
@@DudeMcGuybro My wee Bugera 5W has a suitor. My mate wants to buy it, cos he loves it. Maybe it's cos I've put a EH valve in it, or maybe it's (and I believe this is the key!) because I always fit it out with my Fender Mustang Floor, wwith the Twin Reverb setting, which really brings it to life.
Lee, you won this one. I have a Bullet Mustang and I love it, the amp was surprising.
The Captain won that hands down. Rob's sounded muddy. The Bugera is great value and sounds like a much more expensive valve amp. I would gig with that.
Agreed 100%
Is it just me or did Rob's rig sound muddy as hell ?
No, it's muddy for sure. I've been using a Terror Stamp for the last year, and I had to open it up to turn the pre gain down a quarter turn. That made my gain range a lot more usable. But it's still dirty, so i only use it for a rock sound. If I want metal I use distortion pedals.
Yep first thing I thought.
The terror stamp really shines as a backup amp or a travel rig. I have one on my board and when I go out of town for work I can just bring my guitar, board, and pair of headphones. I wouldn't want it as my main amp. Pedals also really help in getting more sounds and better sounds.
@@devilsguitaristmusic It's not the best sounding thing, but it's still really cool. I accidentally left it on for a whole week. No guitar was plugged in, but it was warm to the touch when i noticed it. Still works fine.
I jam with a jazz dude from time to time and he actually loves the clean tone. To me, it's a little thin by itself, but it sounds fine in a jam.
As soon as Lee started playing, I thought this will be an easy victory. Then he added the pedal on top of the amp's gain, and Rob's rig straight up disintegrated.
Lee, you absolutely won this one. EVH sounding squier!
So glad a fun video came out, recently all they have done is reviews, which are okay. Missing the good days when there was SOUNDS LIKE. And fun videos like this on the regular.
i pray that they bring back sound like next year in march, cos last year we only got Gojira, Muse, The Darkness BY busting and Nickeback without busting, Nirvana for £500, and My Chemical Romance without busting
this year we didn't get squat!
Please, we need sound like back
Captain owns Chappers on this one. Big, loud tone and so much versatility.
Lee, that Bugera is such an underrated amp, looks and sounds alot more expensive than it really is.
Wouldn't say underrated. My experience is that reliability is awful. I guess you get what you pay for. Definitely wouldn't gig with it.
Lee crushed it. His playing has improved so much since I first saw these videos years and years ago.
Comedic editing has really stepped up a few notches!
The captain’s rig all day long , way more open sounding , Lee’s sound was way more present when they jammed together , and it cut trough very well in the mix
A pig with a chainsaw might cut a trough.
so grateful that you digitized the parts when you felt each other's necks.
Lee: Can we hear an A chord, please?
Rob: weeedelee weeee weeedle blouuughm
Lee: -___- *nodding*
Love both of you guys 😂
The answer to this question hasn't changed in the last few years.
Guitar: Any Squier/Epiphone that tickles your fancy
Amp: Boss Katana 50 MkII or Fender Champion 50XL
boss katanas sound not great to be honest, to get a half decent tone you gotta tweak the hell out of it in the tone studio
I came to the comments to write this, but you beat me to it! I am still rocking a Katana 100, Epiphone and a Squier!
Super champ x2 is the way to budget go.
It’s because the speaker is garbage. The speaker in the Artist alone makes it worth the upgrade. I’ve played plenty of gigs with my Artist and have surprised other guitars with the tone it can get. I even recorded with it. I also have a Fender CS Champ, a Fender Bassbreaker, and a Bad Cat Cub so I’m not short on options. If I go on tour this year, I’m only taking one and it’s the Katana Artist.
Of course there’s better sounding amps for the money (pro jr, classic 30), but if you want a reliable, flexible, and sturdy amp, you’d be hard pressed at the price point. Plus it takes care of half my pedal board.
Though, I don’t think I’d buy it if I weren’t a gigging guitarist. It’s pretty overkill for a home guitarist and there’s much better options.
@@theurbread TOTALLY AGREE!!!! No to Katana 50!!! To much tweaking.
Love the captain and his rig sounded brilliant for the money. Really impressed with that sound
the ending jam has some very "Jimi Hendrix - The Wind Cries Mary" vibes to it! great video
I LOVE the editing in this video!
Lee’s playing was spot on!
So basically I'm just 3 minutes into the video, but these thought commentaries just making me giggle. Pure gold
Loved the inner-thoughts commentary!
Why are these sessions so dang entertaining?! So much fun it adds to the day watching the channel. I just wish there were an Anderton’s in the US.
Lee's rig wins for me, I really like that Bugera amp for the money and the Mustang looks great.
Welcome back Rob...Good to see you again!!!
Love all the Anderton Vids btw. I've been going through them all the last week or two. Best Music store, info channel etc.. on the net! Love me some Danish Pete tasty playing! I spend a lot of my free time checking out all these videos. Great Job creating content Lee! Big fan!
Awesome! Great rigs, great sounds and a great way to sell gear. Missed you guys!
Captain's rig sounded better.
Chappers needs to improve his game.
Rob's was an interesting paradigm shift for a budget rig but it had zero flexibility, tbh he would have been a lot better doing the predictable thing and picking a Katana.
Lee and Rob just have a great chemistry that really comes through on UA-cam.
i'm so happy Chappers is back!
I can attest the Orange stamp punches well above it's weight class. My bandmates were amazed that an amp the size of an effect pedal could keep up with a drummer and a 100 watt tube bass amp. It really rips when connected to a 2x12 or 4x12, plus it fits in the pocket of my gig bag. (I am not endorsed by Orange, but if they want to send me a super crush 100 to review, I will gladly take it!)
Great Video Rob and Lee,
Thanks for the Great Affordable Tones, for the average player!🎼
Damn good tone!
Really enjoyed the intro for this one
Great video! The video I’d love to see is a video of viewer rigs. Have the viewers write in their guitar, pedal, amp combinations and then you guys go to the store, get that stuff and we all see how it sounds!!!
"Forget the tuner" Rob Chapman adding a buffer to his rig with the Boss tuner pedal. Smart move 😀
Lee’s sounded the best to me. Loved the crunch tones. Maybe Rob should have went with the Katana after all. Lol.
Yes!! The originals are back!! With the puns and all the video goodness!!! The fallic comedy is priceless!! I stood straight up and applauded the joke... Awesome!!!
I have a Micro Dark and one of those Laney 1x12's and it sounds great! I was so impressed by the cab for the money, well worth it!
Man, that Bugera sounds great!
cables free of charge at andertons? awsome video guys
I have the Bugera head. I love the way the amp reacts to having the pedals in front and not the efx loop...
Rob did great thinking out of the box, but I think we all know the Katana is the right choice! There's a reason we put sure things like that *into* boxes!
I have a Bullet Mustang in white. Modded it with epiphone humbuckers I found for a tenner each. Sounds amazing. Everyone should own a Bullet Mustang.
Genuinely pleased to see this. I got really annoyed by the original version because they walked past a £250 Fender Vaporizer tube amp while saying "you can't do tube for under £500". I even threw a treble booster, strap and cables into my valve 2x10 budget and had change for my £500 garage-punk gigrig. ;)
So it's really gratifying to see the Cap has managed at long last to match my £500 valve glory in this challenge. Cap'n. I salute you.
In case anyone is wondering, I ended up owning the Fender Vaporizer and a treble-booster (though my own handbuilt germanium rangemaster, not the Screaming Bird from my £500 rig) and have been rocking that set up for nearly a decade. So I stand by my original rig list. :D
Yay! Chappers! He of the irrepressible energy talent and wit. 😄
Lee did the thing. I can’t believe you picked a rig without reverb Rob. You underestimated the CAPTAIN. Great video guys, always love seeing the jam.
Damn. Lee stole the show. That rig came in under 500 AND sounded substantially better. Win/win. ;-)
I liked Lee’s a lot more than I thought I would. Pretty good sounding little rig. And the player is great too!!!
Captin's rig is actually REALLY good. I am very impressed by this. Sounds killer.
Love the look on Chappers face while Captain is playing lol
The bugera combo was niiiice
Nice job fellows.
I love Pete to bits, but seeing you two together reminds me of better times when the world wasn't so full of idiots and tossers.
Now I've watched this I'm off to watch your Hatsune Miku video for the 1000th time.
Chapman's rig sounds weedy and the Captain's sounds great.
ahh with that old video i subed to chappers and learned a lot of guitar
Cap's choices are so cool!
Both rigs are pretty darn good, which is amazing for the price. If I could build my own rig from the gear in this video, I'd take the Tele and the Bugera, mainly because I like single coils. Thanks for another fun video.
I think Chappers rig actually sounds alright for an amp in a pedal type thing. Its never going to compete with a "proper" amp but its useable if you were stuck.
I’d say it can compete with “proper” amp’s. It is a proper amp after all. Once it’s got a mic in front, a bit of EQ, and it’s placed in a mix… I doubt you would even know it was a cheap one.
Obviously if I wanted, let’s say a Dumble SSS sound with clean feedback, it ain’t going to achieve it. But neither is a £5,000 plexi from ‘59. It’s all about the sound your after.
Edit: Sylvia Massy’s recording techniques should help dispel the myth that you need an expensive amp. She’ll run a signal through a pickle… You don’t need to spend an arm & leg for good tone.
The sound of that Bugera
i liked the voiceover work, very funny
This is the fun stuff that drew me in to this and Rob's channel's.
Love it, thanks chaps
I have missed seeing you two and your shenanigans.
I really missed this duo!
Great vid.
Lee's rig gets my vote, reverb is essential
Love my Terror Stamp. It fits great on my pedal board. I can get really good tones out of it.
The Captain's rig took this one. Thanks for the great content.
Best video intro ever all your videos should be like this 🤣
I agree... I'll definitely do some more for challenges in the future!
@@ozpowell6589 Good man. Top notch editing👍
Crushing Victory for the Captain! No surprise, Lee is the tone master of Andertons.
Lee you nailed this one. Always a bugera fan but an even much more orange fan and while I usually love robs choices, I think you nailed it on this one. Maybe should’ve gotten a chorus pedal instead of an overdrive tho, amp didn’t really need it
It’s my first video that I watched from Anderspoons lol. I’m glad that they’re redoing it.
When i see Rob i always smile
Best gear for Mr Rob and best sound for the Captain...go figure...thank you for enjoyyyying you so much together again!!
Really like the sound of both. Rob’s rig is surprisingly good. I prefer the Tele over the Mustang, but certainly prefer a tube amp over solid state even hybrid solid state. Given that the amplification was the most expensive portion would go with the Bugera in Lee’s. All in one would be the simpler setup. Love this content.
"Let's play E's, G's and D's!"
*immediately cut to jam starting on A*
I used to have the bugera v55. Those things are freaking awesome amps for the money!!
Rob won this one...just barely. I have a soft spot in my heart for Mustangs. My first guitar was a hand-me-down 1965 Mustang from my grandad. I had never heard of that particular Orange pre-amp/pedal. I had no idea something like that existed! Cheers guys!
Ahhh I’ve missed this so much. Love you Pete, but this is iconic.
I’ve had the blue pilot light V22 for ten years. It has stayed while others have come and gone and now sits next to a Champ, Marshall Origin stack and a Deluxe Reverb. It gets played as much or more than any of the other three.
Gotta say both are amazing, and I am a sucker for a Tele, but at that price range, I gotta go with Lee's rig. THe humbuckers are what sold me, and the amp sounds amazing too
That bugera sounds amazing for the price.
Pete cracks me up with the editing. Blurred out neck feel 😂.
@Mark Seymour Whoever it is it's hilarious.
Those Laney cabs are great I run a bluguitar amp1 Mercury edition and it's phenomenal I have a PRS SE
This was great
Got to go with Lee's rig, though both were incredible value. I love the squire ranges at the moment, the bargains available and how cool the guitars look is amazing!
I would do:
Squier Bullet Mustang HH in Black £119
Orange Micro Terror Head £99
Peavey 1x12 Guitar Cab £109
Fender Marine Layer Reverb Pedal £109
Tone City Tape Machine Delay Pedal £50
Total price £489
I have to go with Rob. Very nice sounding structure to build from
Great seeing Lee and Rob together again.
Indeed
I watched them since middle school.. and I'm currently in pre-med.. how the freak i got this old.
I'm a bugera V55 Infinium user so I'm partial. I love Lee's sound. But I could see myself using the stomp amp just the same. It's definitely usable.
I knew immediately who the winner soon after Lee's pick the bugera. Such an amazing amp and price
I’m diggin the captains rig.
I kind of hate myself for how much I love these budget videos. They suck me in every single time. Just like the old sounds like series. Thanks Anderton's for feeding my guilty pleasure!!
That live band thing you pointed to with Pete and the naughty drummer was fantastic. More of that.
Soooo many pen15 jokes, glorious. Thank you again for such awesome content Lee and Co..
Great Intro :)
