I hate how this game fell into the low weapon variety trap that fallout 3 fell into. Only 2 shotguns in this game, 1 smg, no PROPER 50 cal, no grenade launchers, etc
Yeah Bethesda seems to really enjoy taking away options and choices from the player. I honestly don't understand how so many people still play FO4 when, if you play optimally, each start is exactly the same
I miss having real cold war era weapons show up, or tie the weapons into real world stuff. (Colt 6520 [10mm pistol], Colt Rangemaster Hunting Rifle, AK-112 Assault rifle, H&K G11, CAWS, and P90 [makes less sense for these as plastic isnt used in fallout but still cool] and all the other weapons they added that had some "real" tie in)
You know that Bethesda added to grenade launchers in Fallout 4.
None of the shotguns are pump.
@@cmcfly6722yeah almost a decade after release 😂
i remember retrieving an Explosive DB Shotgun at Level 12 from the mirelurk beneath Concord and used it throughout my entire 3rd playthrough, I didn't even know that it can stack with the Demolition Expert perk yet it still had ridiculously high damage against endgame DLC enemies.
I remember getting one early on they had the never ending prefix. That carried me through the entire game and I made my character build around it. Fun weapon. Thanks Legendary Radroach!
Something I remember from awhile back is that the Never-Ending prefix with this weapon is insane
Yep it fires as fast as you can push the button, only problem is the recoil is also insane
It's great early game but falls off really fast. Especially if you rush Justice. Only way a double barrel can compete then is if you get blessed with an explosive one.
The vats-reload trick goes bonkers with this weapon
A pipe shotgun sounds awesome. Imagine being able to mod it to have multiple barrels like in the Mad Max game
My very first double-barrel shotgun that I got sawn off had a 50% damage perk.
I named him..... BOOM STICK!
DB's with bloodymess and upgrades turns ur combat into DOOM.
They should've at least given us a pump shotgun in Fallout 4 instead of saving it for Fallout 76. Imo there's not even enough shotguns in base Fallout 4 to even consider a shotgun based build when there's so many rifles out there.
There also aren't any shotgun perks, as far as the game cares they're just "rifles" or "automatics" which is so lame
This Is My BOOM STICK!
I got an explosive doble barrel shotgun , and preaty mutch use that as the main gun for the hole game
Truns out that efect makes that explosive perks add damage to
Figures
It's a solid C. With a solid muzzle brake, you're getting a solid wall of lead, and I tend to keep on on hand for mole rats and other low armour enemies.
I found a legendary explosive double barrel shotgun in my playthrough and it just made everything so easy to kill
I just wish you could fire both barrels at once.
Fallout 1 had only two types of shotguns, 3 also had two with a single variant each (plus one from Point Lookout) New Vegas had no DLC shotguns, and then 4 came out with only two of them (with the Combat Shotgun having *two* unique variants). it seems to me shotguns are a bit of a series-long issue in one way or another. 2, Tactics and NV had the most variety, but considering the time it came out, again, NV had no DLC ones, so idk why this weapon category is so inconsistent in the series
edit: inb4 someone says anything about BoS - yes, I know it only had two too, but nobody likes the game anyways, so whomst cares?
2 was weird because two of its shotguns were cool concept weapons that never entered full production. It was an interesting idea to include some RL cutting edge guns that theoretically could have been in service when the bombs dropped. But none of those ended up being more than interesting museum pieces
NV kind of makes up for the lack of shotguns with different ammunition types. It’s not 100% perfect but there’s some variation in how to shogun.
Why does it matter that FNV had no DLC shotguns? It had like 6 different shotguns in the base game without even counting the unique variants. Way more than any other entry in the series.
Single Shotgun, Sawn-off, Caravan, Lever Action, Hunting Pump-Action, & the Riot Shotgun iirc.
@@angelthemute1670 well, every other type of weapon had at least *2* new ones as DLC, but shotguns got none. yes, NV had a bunch in vanilla, but my point was that even when there's a satisfactory number of them, shotguns are still a category that lags behind somehow, in this case, it's not that it had 2 types, but that the category wasn't updated ONCE in a time where DLC was already commonplace, not even the Gun Runners' Arsenal added a shotgun. that said, it's not a "problem" per se, but it's more so a way to say Fallout doesn't prioritize shotguns as much as other weapon categories
Top Legendary perks on Double Barrel: Never-Ending, Instigating, BLEED, Penetrator, Knee-Capper, Anti-Robot and Anti-Human, Slow-Mode, and Powerful. Other perks just don't cut it like Anti-Ghoul and VATS-enhanced since WHEN can you ever snipe with a shotgun?!
I always seem to find with the legendary trait "endless"
I almost never use the double but one with the never ending mod is a beast and of course explosive though you need to be careful with that as it can end you as well
If you're lucky enough to find the unlimited double-barreled shotgun you've got it made
Checkout triple barrel shotgun creation club but looks as close to pipe weapon
Your thumbnails are top of the line. Really tempting to click on your videos even though I am not that interested in FO4 content lol
to fix the double barrel, give it +20 damage so it can deal some stupid damage per shot, but suffers in damage per second unless you have Unlimited
BOOM.
You have your mobbing shotgun and your bossing shotgun (still needs more variety like with a pump action and a pipe shotgun but eh)
Never ending Double Barrel
I really like bleed on my double barrel
Larger caliber. 5:08
The best legendary effect for the double barrel is never ending.
The double barrel could be 12 gauge while the combat 20 gauge making the former more powerful. Not sure if it makes sense in real life.
Most shotguns that would be effective in combat would probably be 12 gauge, but a semi automatic could be made to be a bit heavier for recoil control purposes and weight balancing for a game
I'd leave it where you put it. Just an ok weapon for the start of the game. The best legendaries for shotguns are wounding and explosive. Works better on a combat shotgun.
The thing that i hate in this weapon is reload animation. It is awful
Honestly I'd call it a F tier. I'd rather use a pipe pistol.
DOOM tier.
I have an interesting theory as to why FO3 and 4 have so few shotguns in them, and in particular why they dont have any tube magazine ones. I noticed in FO4 that the LE rifle from Far Harbor always loads 5 shots on reload, regardless of how many you were actually missing. This made me realize, the LE rifle is (as far as I know) the ONLY weapon in 3 or 4 that reloads bullet-by-bullet like that. So I have a theory that not being able to have a dynamic reload animation is actually an engine limitation, and this kept Bethesda from featuring shotguns that loaded like that. Not sure why they'd change their minds for one gun in a DLC, but maybe they just really wanted to include a LE rifle without using the BB gun reload like FO3 and didn't care about the jank anymore.
Also, yes you can reload weapons bullet-by-bullet in FNV, but that also caused reload dashing to be a thing so maybe that made Bethesda not want to use that version.
Just go play DOOM or DOOM ETERNAL instead
That is probably the most fun double barrel
