A Two shot Pipe Revolver is pretty good. Carried me through most of the game
Never used this outside early game when i ran out of ammo for my other gun
Same here. I normally never touch past the low levels unless I run out of 10mm and .38 ammo and better options aren't available. Or if an OP legendary effect pops up on one (it'd be dumb not to exploit a two shot or instigating one in the early game).
I’ve straight up barely ever used this. Probably haven’t even fired 100 or even 50 rounds out of this thing.
Works very fine in Very Hard but in Survival the AI moves more looking for cover all the time. At least I noticed that not sure if it actually happens. So the 10 mm faster shooting is more useful.
Ah yes. My favourite gun in the game, to turn into a sniper rifle.
A .308 scoped revolving cylinder rifle + explosive gives me a glow of Borderlands nostalgia as I roam the commonwealth 🤠
I got a two shot one in a playthrough. It did less damage than a standard .44.
I was using an instigating pipe revolver as a sniper rifle in my last playthrough and it lasted me pretty much the entire game. I still usually avoid the pipe guns in general.
The Pipe Revolver not only looks like it could be real, its also viable for the whole game if you mod it right. it's an A tier for me.
Even on Very Hard? If so, I could do a challenge run with it.

On very hard or survival I'd recommend doing a vats/stealth build. The 308 version of the pipe revolver with a silencer is pretty much on par with a combat rifle if you use the stealth perks properly and stack on lone wanderer and the gunslinger/commando perks depending on which stock you're using.
Pipe revolver was actually my favorite junk weapon, looks like true wasteland weapon
I've been using one lately. It's only early game but I've actually found it to be pretty decent.
3:50 Pipe Bolt Pistol uses 308 too
I think Ron considers the Pipe Bolt Action to be an abomination to his senses so he forgets about it;). A shame as the Pipe Bolt Action Pistol is a monster with a VATS/Critical build.
The pipe revolver carried me through my early to mid game, I did a Pistols only run once I got a decent amount 10mm pistol I would just use the PR for trash mobs
I like this gun because you can mod it into a revolver rifle and that’s very unique to the game. I wish you could turn the other revolvers into rifles though
The only pipe weapon I bring throughout the whole game despite its appearance cuz of how useful it is. I still install a mod that changes its texture though.
Contrariwise, the revolver is my least favorite of the pipe weapons.
The .38 makes for a good full auto SMG for the early game (or later if you get a good legendary). Cheap plentiful ammo.
The .308 is the highest damage suppressed weapon and makes the best early game sniping weapon as the hunting rifle is too hard to mod.
The pipe revolver doesn’t have a niche. It’s aesthetically the best, to be sure, but aesthetics doesn’t kill raiders.
I agree, and I always felt the Pipe Revolver was harder to find for some reason.
It's... fine. I'm not above using one early game before I find a hunting rifle, or if I need a pistol with a little more pop than the 10mm. But it's something that gets quickly replaced.
The Pipe Revolver actually does get the best use out of .45 if you're running pistols, since its base damage is actually better than the damage of the .45 Pipe Semi-auto. Of course, the combat rifle STARTS one damage shy of the Pipe Revolver's max damage, shoots faster, and has twenty rounds in a mag vs. 6 in the chamber, so any sensible rifle build, unless they find a REALLY good Revolver or you're going for some sort of Cowboy Themed run, is going to swap the Revolver out. And that's not even getting into the Radium Rifle.
Shall I hope for legendary effects tier list?
The pipe revolver is only cool because I can turn it into a rifle, and it looks decent as a rifle, I love me a good revolver rifle.
I love fallout 4 but i hate the weapons id have rather they took a page out of fnv and had more weapon variety and not one gun can be all guns.
Could we just swap and make the Pipe Revolver start chambered in .38 and the Pipe Pistol/Rifle starts as 10mm?
I got an explosive pipe revolver early game and found out it wasnt even good so I just switched to the combat shotgun
Its not really that terrible against light enemies, however anything a bit higher like mutants, yao goai and enemies with armor + hp you might consider something better from ur PIP boy.
I had an Instigating Pipe Revolver which was not bad at all for sneak attacks. Early game I would kill an enemy before it would turn into a gunfight which helped me turn the tide. Soon as I found the Combat Rifle, I just threw the pistol away.
It's not bizarre that pistols don't use .308. It's a rifle cartridge 😂
I personally think that the pipe revolver is the worst of the three main pipe types (still better than the Syringer...). It's in this awkward middle place where it doesn't have a good fire rate, but also doesn't have the single-shot damage of the bolt-action. It feels almost like it wants to be a DMR type (at least as a rifle), but its accuracy is *just* low enough to not be a great choice in that role, and the basic pipe gun's accuracy isn't too much lower. The end result is that it kind of gets screwed by being so average that it can't properly fulfill any role the game wants. There is very little reason to use it over the 10mm as a pistol...which you literally start with...unless you are just out of 10mm ammo. In addition, getting a .44 revolver right at the start of the game is piss-easy if you know where to look...and that has exactly double the damage with the same fire rate and slightly more accuracy.

No, the Rifleman perk is _for_ the use of semi auto rifles. The perk for auto is called Commando 👍
