I feel like the shielded barrels is a nice reference to Booligan shooting sports since he made an 1887 in a "Trench Gun" configuration where he did the same thing.
Could possibly also be a reference to the double barrel mod for the 1987 shotgun from Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon?

Dude... you and Pig are killing it... I need to do a reinstall of FO4, but when I get it done it's going to be pretty much all of your weapons in my game. They just have the aesthetics and function that I want. Probably the only things I will use that aren't going to be yours are going to be a 10mm replacer (Yeah, I know, the 10mm is a classic FO pistol, but I just need something that is a more realistic design, I use a Colt Delta 10 replacer), and a pipe gun replacer... though I seem to remember you have something for that, also... so I may use that. The pipe guns in FO4 were one of the best ideas they could have come up with for the setting, they just didn't execute them very well. They should have been something that could be constructed from scrap, and they really should have paid a little more attention to how real garage weapons work. The work that you guys have put into your mods is just phenominal, though.
The .32 smg mod already has a pipe replacer patch and works great as what pipe guns should have been. Though it doesn't replace pipe revolvers and bolt actions.

The default reload in this mod adds the one extra shell to the chamber, but you can also put one shell in the lifter. This gives you seven shots. In Terminator 2, Arnold's 1887 has 7 rounds because of this technique. I think it'd be neat to have that locked behind a level of gun nut and the modification requires no resources to make. This simulates the player getting familiar with how the gun works and realizing they can add that extra shell

I got to say I've been playing with this mod for the past couple of days and it is one of my top favorite shotgun mods so far think you guys for making it:)
Fun fact: In the commentary to T2: Special Edition, James Cameron mentions that it's a 10-gauge, which means it might actually be a Winchester model 1901 rather than an 1887. Same design, though. Lever-action rolling block. Nothing else like it that isn't a licensed copy. John Browning rightly recognized that the Spencer 1883 pump-action shotgun was a better prognostication of what would become the standard for repeating shotguns.
Note: Imagine a 40mm version! A lever-action grenade launcher! }:-P

I always figured spin-cocking was the Arnie method (pioneered by Western heroes of yesteryear who Arnie was mimicking in T2), whereas flip-cocking was the Bruce Campbell method a la 'Army of Darkness'. Theatricality demands a different set of priorities.
3:18 It's a lever-action rolling block (hence the short receiver) that loads and ejects through the top. You can actually load a seventh shell. You can have five in the tube, one in the chamber, and one on top of the elevator. It's possible, but not recommended practice. If the primer detonates, you're screwed. Hickok45 demonstrated how to do it some years back. Btw, if you spin-cock one of these IRL, there's a chance that the shells will fall out instead of cycling properly.
Note: I'd kinda like to see a levergun in a video game - could be a rifle, shotgun, or carbine - that uses side-fed box mags.
5:00 Correct to fire the last shot, then work the lever, leaving it open, then start the reload. We always see bolt-actions being done wrong in FPS games. The player character will fire the last shot, then pull the bolt back, then return it forward, then reload, then work the bolt completely back and forward. Correct procedure is to fire the last shot, pull the bolt back, leave it back, then reload, then return the bolt forward. And don't get me started on on left-handed bolt-actions existing in worlds where everyone's right-handed.
5:06 Pretty good. Only one nitpicky detail that only matters to manic-obsessive freaks like muhself. The first shell should be loaded into the chamber. Yes, even with a lever-action rolling block, it's important to get that "combat load."

7:24 Ackchyually, the casings would most likely be ejecting down and forward. Also, I reiterate that there's a high probability that cartridges will fall out during spin-cocking instead of cycling properly. In fact, these things (and their licensed copies like the ones made by Chiappa) are notorious for not cycling reliably even when using them normally. A standard level-action cycles more reliably than a lever-action rolling block.
7:49 Again, we have a right-handed character slinging a weapon on their back in left-handed configuration. And with the trigger group facing out instead of in. The Ghoul does the same thing in the Fallout show in regard to that second thing, but at least he's a right-hander who slings his "Mare's Leg Deluxe" in right-handed configuration. The Mandalorian is another example of a right-handed character who slings a long gun on his back in left-handed configuration (plus, he does that thing where he draws it off his back underhand with his shootin' hand on the forearm for no reason).
8:09 The Wild West version of an entry gun. That stubby barrel is the one you'd want if you planned to do theatrical spin-cocking IRL. The "law" is more lenient with short-barrel shotguns when they're dedicated to theatrical use. Btw, that so called "law" was passed in 1934, so it wasn't relevant to the Old West era. Back in the day, you could have whatever barrel length you wanted and nobody judged you for it.
8:15 They came standard with a 30" barrel (which is longer than you need). It was understood at the time that the owner could trim it to whatever length they wanted. Personally, I'd prefer to buy it with the barrel length I want. Also, when you trim a shotgun barrel, there'll always be burs that need to be sanded off. The muzzle should be sanded neat and clean.
8:34 The presence or absence of a stock should have a hugely noticeable effect on handling characteristics (favorable to a proper stock).
9:58 Offset scope since it's a top-ejector. Being offset means it could mount a bit farther back and it wouldn't obstruct the ejection port. At any rate, being offset also means the user could swap back and forth between scope and iron sights at will (like combination sights) for tactical adaptability...WITHOUT having to do that "Wick Tilt" Center Axis Relock biz!

Just took a visit to Nexus and took a peak at all of your mods... you're a little light on the energy weapons (unless somehow I wasn't seeing them all, it looks like you only have two or three) but for everything else... yeah... your mods cover everything that I'll ever need for my next load order, all I need you to make is a good 10mm replacer, and a well researched pipe weapon replacer, and my wasteland will be drenched in your ballistic weapons... and melee weapons. You and Pig are madlads with the weapons mods, and I love it.
I went with the Borz, Mac-11, and .22 pack as pipe replacers. Agree about 10mm and energy weapons.
@@kingofhearts3185 AAAaaand my whole damned post about why I don't like vanilla pipe weapons, and why they need to be fixed just got eaten... Anyway, the three mods you mentioned are going to be in my line-up anyway, as they are just great mods in the first place. But they aren't the "scrap" weapons that should be in the game. Pipe weapons were a great idea for the setting, Bethesda just executed it horribly, and no one has done a really great job in fixing it. I think if Dak and Pig took as swing at actually fixing pipe weapons, and making a replacement for them, they would probably be able to do the best job.

@@BU1Lander Fair enough, I prefer more of the 40s style made on the cheap sorts like the M3 grease gun. I wouldn't mind a luty though.
@kingofhearts3185 something like a Luty would be great, but; though home made, even that would still be too "finished" if you get what I mean? I am talking more along the lines of something like a "grease gun" built out of pipe, some springs, and a caulking gun. Things made out of actual junk that you would find lying around after an apocalypse, but with some thought given to how they might be fit together to make a function weapon.
So I use to own one of these IRL, if you are thinking about buying one Two things to keep in mind. 1.) I highly recommend wrapping the lever in something like paracord because if you are buying a mares leg(T2 Style) that steel lever is going to recoil into your hand and it hurts. 2.)They are fun to own and you will regret selling it.
The bladed lever and stock remind me of the talon guns from Hunt: Showdown

This must be the reboot of the Defunct shotgun. I love the mod, I definitely love this one too. It feels a bit weird though.
Soon as patch for not requiring munitions comes out this will be awesome because of the difference in space conservation to the original, but being as its almost a carbon copy of the original 1887 mod (plus some attachment pack inspired pieces but minus the big bubba special) it on its own doesnt justify getting munitions.
Admittedly they gave full credits and are willing to maintain the mod, this plus the massive amount of space saved, anyone would be a fool to download the og one over pig and dak's version....unless munitions dependency is an issue.

Can someone explain what "The BCR won't work without it means?" I understand it has something to do with Bullet Counted Reload System (BCR) but what exactly does that mod do and how does it affect this gun?
When you shoot one bullet, you reload one instead of the whole mag like it does in the vanilla game
Bullet Counted Reload allows weapon that load one bullet at a time (EX: Lever Action Rifle) to reload properly instead of playing the full empty reload animation.
Oh, also, people have modified these guns to shoot a massive 70-150 round through a rifled barrel. Turning it from a shotgun to a rifle
I really enjoy The lever action shotgun especially from the Terminator 2 movie Far Cry and Call of Duty animations into the game red dead as well some of the things I enjoyed is having a lever action shotgun and rifle always been one of my favorite weapons
I wish the Terminator mod worked on the Fallout 4 it was pretty fun having Arnold Schwarzenegger look like helping you out what the mod didn't work and it would corrupt everything so I had to take that out of there
So idk if you accept suggestions at all or if there is a better place for that but I’ve always wanted a musket mod for the minutemen using the munitions .50 ball ammo and i really like your scrappy thrown together style
The only way you could've made the 1887 bring back more memories is if you made a special that had the player carry to of them Akimbo style like in MW2

one of my favourite weapon mods currently. the sound effects are very punchy. i'm not sure if it's just me but it feels like i shoot slightly to the right of where the iron sights are pointed sometimes. doesn't seem to be an issue with any other sight configurations though.

it only messed up super technical mods and it takes like 3 clicks to go back to the old version using the downgrader
I know this might not be related to the video but, how did you scale down your HUD. I assume you're using Fall-HUD with the new vegas preset but I can't figure out how to make the health and ammo parts smaller like you have.

I've been curious about something with the VATS Targeting Module. Does it, or is there a possibility of making it, work with Bullet-Time VATS replacers? I have one with an accompanying "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" sound effect replacer to go with my cowboy playthrough, and this weapon would work great for that. However I don't know if the replacer would play nice with the VTM, or if it would add anything to it.
In reality I don't know what it would do in that instance though; maybe slow down time a bit more?

Since your shotgun allowed customizing the type of shell it uses, I wanted to ask if it were possible to you to make that feature into a standalone mod with options for all the vanilla shotguns aswell as modded shotguns (or mods that lets you load the Lever-action Rifle from Fah Habah with Shotgun shells)? I know that there already is a mod out there that does that, but it's entirely dependant on The Widow Shotgun, so players who want the feature but don't want the Widow Shotgun kinda are left with a blocked-off plugin slot (and also it does only the Double Barrel Shotgun).
There's also another mod that does that, "Loads of Ammo", but it's rather bulky and doesn't only affect Shotgun shells but all other types of ammo aswell and is also rather clunky to use (with the craftable ammo switcher and all).
It would be really cool to have that as a feature on all shotguns, because it really makes sense. And of course, making it compatible with True Damage would also be baller.

BCR is a soft requirement, you dont need to have it to use the mod

You may have been thinking about another F:NV-inspired mod that adds the 1887. I know there's a couple of weapon mods that were originally from that Fallout 4: New Vegas project. Maybe there's one of the New Vegas Lever Action Shotgun?
