Meg Barber hi I'm sitting the ukcat myself this year and was just wondering what resources you used and how long you spent preparing to get such a good score

Well done! Got 796.6 Band 1 myself this time, but that abstract is literally this best I've ever heard of, so well done! I also recommend not wasting the brain power on the decision, but not running through it, just chill and take a toilet break!
Cailean Dolan hi I'm sitting the ukcat myself this year and was just wondering what resources you used and how long you spent preparing to get such a good score
Wow congratulations on your results!! My test is next week, hope I can do as well as you did. About verbal reasoning did you skim read the whole passage and then answer the q's or did you read the question first and then find keywords in the passage. Also did you finish all the VR q's, approx how many did you finish?? Would appreciate if you could answer thanks
Hi Manisha, When you first practiced for the UKCAT, did you start of getting majority wrong??might be a stupid qs but its really annoying bc you cant tell if you are improving!!!
I feel your hypothesis about DM may be wrong, but I don't really know. I, for example, worked through it, completed it and checked it, never having practiced it, and ended up getting 10 marks less than you overall, giving me a 787 average, with Band 1 SJT. I may be an outlier, I may have been able to do better if I'd have skipped it, but I don't know
Congratulations once more on your score! I think that it will be different for each person. I found some of the questions on the actual DM to be quite easy, so I felt quite comfortable doing them, but if someone found them extremely difficult, they may be affected by it. I think your hypothesis is probably accurate though, and it probably is best to just skip it, since you have nothing to lose by doing so, and it keeps you focused and less panicked :D
Hey, I am doing my UKCAT on October 4 and I just wanted to ask if doing all the questions on the ISC medical 1000 book is reasonable or to just use medify?? What do you recommend I prioritise in my revision. I am bad the Abstract reasoning because I don't know what to look at and QR is hard as well...
I've never heard of the ISC book so can't talk to much about it however Medify for me was absolutely perfect, in terms of revision I just worked in the order of section in the test in equal times so there was no real strategy, I suppose if you find ar and qr tricky then maybe start with them.
i actually disagree with not doing the DA section as it could be useful if people are disappointed in their score and end up needing to take the test again next year answering the questions might help people to figure out what the section could be like next year and (for me, anyway) it was pretty reassuring as i had plenty of time to answer that section not only that, but the section involves a few maths-based question which can really help you to get into the right mindset for quantitative - it's almost like a warm up exercise and gives you loads of time to calm down after VR as there's a distinct drop in pressure so yeah, of course your view is valid but i think (for the benefit of the many students that might watch this and take your word as law) it's quite important to present a more balanced opinion? congrats on your score nonetheless!
+Adil Uddin hi yep i have :) the time you get for each section is fixed so you don't get extra time by skipping DM similarly, you can't use the time you have remaining from another section as extra time on another as once you complete a section the time resets and you can't go back
hey I applied for Uni & started foundation yr & got support by Student Finance ,2019 : I only had one repeat unit from foundation yr paid by me, 2020: I change my course from b.mangmt to HR , now Student finance not paying for the course, what should i do? @thestudentroom
youre results are amazing ! im so stressed about my upcoming UKCAT test. im getting between 550 and 600 in my mock and i have no idea if im actually going to do well in the real thing. i hope i do
You have to do it it's included in the score, last year was a trial run so they can use it to allocate marks according to how well people did in the trial, like the score you have to get to get 900 would be the score of the best person last year, and 300 the worst.
What exam boards do you do for bio chem and maths ? Also are you going to do revision videos subject specific ! So proud of you Manisha keep up the great work!
Bio and Chem- AQA and Maths-MEI I can maybe to specific videos, I made some throughout year 12 and will probably use similar techniques this time round. Also thank you so much! x
Hello I want to know about preparation material for UKcat and also any preparation course recommended online or physical attendance. What about Kaptest
Thanks! Kings seems like a really good shot but I've decided to stay out of London due to prices and I already live there so looking at Glasgow and Manchester for my more ukcat heavy chocies
emade ukodie yeah, you do. Decision Making was piloted last year and wasn't graded so there was no point in doing it. However, this year it is graded and you do have to do it
Wow, so impressed, I got a 770 and Band 2!

Cailean Dolan well done please get back to me
Ngl, I think I'm fucked for this. Abstract Reasoning is just fucking AIDS in the iscmedical book. Someone give me some advice for that shit.
Doctor Black trust me ffs😂😂😂
I got:
VR:600
DM:680
QR:810
AR:740
SITUATIONAL: BAND 1
If you have any questions comment. I just finished my exam two hours ago!!!
What do you guys think of my score. I'm not sure if I should apply to universities with ukcat emphasis or not..
How was qr? Was it really hard?
@@amalalmojedel1976 Did you get in?

What outstanding results! Congrats.
What did you get in your mock tests on the UKCAT website?:)xx
Hi Manisha,
When you first practiced for the UKCAT, did you start of getting majority wrong??might be a stupid qs but its really annoying bc you cant tell if you are improving!!!
Well done! When would you say you should do the mocks?
I feel your hypothesis about DM may be wrong, but I don't really know. I, for example, worked through it, completed it and checked it, never having practiced it, and ended up getting 10 marks less than you overall, giving me a 787 average, with Band 1 SJT.

Hey you could be totally correct I only did one mock with it and it was my first mock so yeah you might be right :')
Congratulations once more on your score!

Thats amazing well done girl!!
Congrats on the score! Any tips for reading compression type questions?
How long before your test did you start practicing and how much practice would you do a day? X
Woaah you did so well. Im taking the test in two weeks. I hope it goes half as well :)
Thanks, best of luck!
how did you revise with verbal reasoning...I'm really struggling with it!!
For the UCAS form, what qualification do you select for biology and chemistry? Whenever I click A level, Bio/chem it always comes up with 6 modules?
Well done!! :) very proud of you little one 😘
Reshma Ravi Just saw this, thank you☺️💕

have you done the UKCAT? Does the DM time add on to the rest of the exam or is it just after you skip it that 30 minutes is gone?

What were your percentages for each section on the practice analysis on medify?
How many questions did you just guess for each section? im finding in practice im not having time to answer a lot and just guessing

Jameel Suhotoo how did you do?
@@prathameshsaisankar9246 did you do ur test?
I got 632.5 average and am studying medicine at kings. In my 2nd year now
What were your gcse results?
Around what scores were you getting in your mocks?
is decision making still optional for 2017 and 2018 applicants?
Basic Betch Tings No, I think applicants need to complete the DM section because it is included in the total score.
You have to do it it's included in the score, last year was a trial run so they can use it to allocate marks according to how well people did in the trial, like the score you have to get to get 900 would be the score of the best person last year, and 300 the worst.
Cgts on ur results, did you find abstract reasoning the hardest?
Why don’t you need to do the decision section?
Great results unlike mine.
does DM time get added on to the rest of the test? So you can use that extra 30 mins or no?
The DM timing is set only for the section so if you skip it you'll get no extra time for other sections
how do you know that you dont need to do the decision section
What exam boards do you do for bio chem and maths ? Also are you going to do revision videos subject specific ! So proud of you Manisha keep up the great work!
