Anyone else here because they just got a puncture repaired.
Me jez
Yep, just got my patch in today 🤣

“If you can’t do it right don’t do it “
Wise words.
So just to make sure I have this straight, if I get a nail out side of the belt and I repair that hole I have voided the warranty, but the warranty doesn’t cover nails in my tire so I have two choices, repair the nail hole voiding the warranty OR throw that tire away and buy Not one but FOUR new tires so the tread depth is the same on all four tires so as to not ruin the running gear on an all wheel drive car, that actually sounds like a great sales model!
Terry Mair yes it really is that way. Absolutely stupid. I go through a lot of tires and just bought my own tire changer because of that.
Just plug it if it's not in the sidewall, you have to remember who's telling you NOT to plug them yourself, it's a guy in the business of trying to sell you tires! Hahaha I've been plugging tires for 30 years , and my Semitruck tires are extreme duty with 100 PSI of air in them, I've never had a problem!
old trucker wow I always wondered how well they would work on semi tires. That’s good to know!
@@delvictor7570 oh man, I've never ever ever had a problem, but you have to buy the" heavy duty "Tire plug kit, I bought it a place called Princess Auto, I'm not sure if you're familiar with them. The heavy duty kit has larger plugs and larger tools
@@brianvandorp25 no the problem with them is they dont create a problem seal and is doesn't allow you to properly inspect the tire there are story's of several million dollar law suits because shops put in string plugs and it caused blow outs later down the road because the lack of a proper sealing allowed the belts to rust
I'll take that non repairable tire ill get 10,000 more miles out of it.
Very nice video on how to do a proper, complete repair.
+Vin D Thank you!
I would like to be a professional tire maintenance technician , do you know any school that offers tire training.
+Abraham Mutale www.tireindustry.org is a great place to start looking at training for certification on proper tire repair.
for those who are criticizing this man for the first nail shown and the string patch. pay attention.. he did not say it was unable to be repaired. it is just not wise to repair it if you want to keep warranty on your tires. as he said more than once. if the injury of the tire is outside the belt package it does not fall under warranty
+brett pingel This is true, however the belt package of tires doesn't always end at the rib that hits the shoulder block. What you can do is removing the offending item and then use your awl/ probe to check and see if you can feel the belt package on each side of the hole. If you can, then 9 times out of ten your tire will be in a repairable area.
One thing to note though is that if the placement of the patch on the inside of the tire is too close to the inner sidewall it will be unwise to try and repair it even if you're still within the belt package because of how much the tire will flex while on the road, potentially causing the patch to work itself loose.
@@Jokerseven77 Yes sir you are correct , u have to watch out for the flex point when your getting close to the edge of the tire . once the repair is done on the flat contact surface of the tire it should work, but going to close to the edge/side wall creates a big problem because as the tire rolls, it continuously flex's causing the seal/patch to fail! This is the reason why its good practice to come off about an inch from the edge on both side to make a safe repair!
Hey Frad Flintstone, this was a really good job, well done, one of the best I have seen. Flintstone do you remember that? So be careful, and tale care.......................BB
dont just run the stitcher back and forth one time as shown, go up and down, left and right, diagonally both ways too, and you stitch until that plastic on it almost comes off on its own. really work it in. And align the word radial inline with the tread, so 90 degree turn from how he put it on.
yea i was wondering why he didnt stitch left right AND up down
doing it diagonally in ADDITION is also a great idea like you said
Or just put a plug in it, and don't worry about it LOL
How many tire shops do it this exact way? The answer will astound you.
What’s the answer?
This video is labeled as a Professional Tire Repair and is what is supposed to be done. The reason the criteria is held to tire manufacturer specific warranty criteria is a shop will be held liable if a repair end up in a tire failure or leak but worse an accident or loss of life. No shop wants that ever to happen and must protect his customer's safety. He isn't saying this to sell tires but is actually looking out for his customer's safety and how a tire repair is supposed to be done!
Great video. Very helpful
Make sure you fix that INJURY! Far too much trouble - just use a DIY plug. Leave the tire on the rim.
Roger Tycholiz Yeah... don't inspect the inside and only find out about the internal sidewall damage when it kills someone, good idea.
Extremely rare for tires to blow out these days. They almost always have catastrophic damage or be have to be completely worn out for them to be actually dangerous.
Exactly! I've been plugging tires on my Semi trucks for 30 years! I've never ever ever had an issue. One time I managed to pick up socket wrench extension in one of my drive tires, I put 4 plugs just in that one hole, aired it up to 100 PSI (just to cripple the rig home), I ran that tire for 1.5 years!without an issue 👍
this reminds me of dental work...
im feeling a lot of past trauma...
Curious, with this type of repair are you supposed to drive on it right away? Or is it best to let it sit and dry for a while? I know the kits are fast drying, but I'm assuming there is a curing time as well. I've always assumed best to take it easy on the way home after a repair and just park it until the next day. IDK, kind of a sciency question I suppose. haha
Very good question @Kraken.
Following the process outlined in the video, cement is stippled into the buffed surface of the tire and allowed to dry prior to applying the rubber repair unit. After the repair unit is applied, a chemical reaction occurs known as vulcanization. Once the repair has been completed, the curing process may take up to 72 hours. However, the adhesion strength of the repair unit immediately after the repair, is strong enough for the tire to be put back in service, and driven under normal conditions.
That's an incredible repair. I had had wonderful luck with string plugs though...never had a leaker.
Jeffro115 the issue with string repairs wasnt leaking it was that the tire was most often repaired without internal inspection meaning if the tire had any internal sidewall damage from being underinflated it wasn't at all noticed. This resulted in the direct deaths of some people due to a complete tire failure at high speed after the string repair was applied. This is why in many places the string repair is actually illegal.

I have looked at a number of videos on how to do a puncture repair and I think this is one of the best. The only thing that surprised me what that you did not vaccum out the tyre debris before applying the cement and patch. By leaving it in place you risk small particles moving onto to the repair area which could result in poor adhesion.
Mike Farrell really?
Mike Farrell You only risk that if you are silly enough to move the tire or sneeze in it after you apply the adhesive.
He said you need to vacuum the Debris
Your concern is very logical.
He uses the word injury for the damaged area.
He should vacuum the debris before "surgery".
@@KidrahulPure..what are you baked?!.. read this guys comment again... now go back and watch the video, note when G-pa tells you to vacuum up the debris, now go back read your comment you left.. I really hope ya got if figured out ?
Thanks for watching and commenting. We created this video to update the professional technician on a proven technology for tire repair. The procedures are endorsed by the RMA and are specifically designed to restore the safe condition and service life of a tire. Educated techs understand that properly repairing an injury is the best way to avoid a catastrophic failure of the tire, and restore the vehicle to a safe operating condition.

You all probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb lost the account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Kendall Kamden instablaster ;)
@Ralph Kenneth I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Ralph Kenneth it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
@Kendall Kamden You are welcome =)
how do you control the buffer? the buffer in my shop goes crazy fast. im left handed and i cant control it. when i land the thing it zip to the other side. i need to use 2 hands.
and why do you scrap it if your going to buff it off?
buffer will buff the synth rubber into the real rubber. you are not holding it right or need to get used to/comfortable with the tool
Thank you!
The cost associated with repairing a passenger car tire correctly will vary based on a number of factors, but it is not unusual for this service to fall in the $20-$30 range. It is important to keep in mind that this service will not only include demounting, inspecting and repairing the tire, it would also include a rebalancing of the tire once it has been remounted to the rim. Some vehicles require TPMS service which would increase the cost of repair.
That pricing would make sense if it's an expensive large low profile $100 plus tyre, but there's no point spending that money to repair a more standard tyre size where an extra $5/$10 would buy you a brand new tyre??
@mighty what is the size reaming size of carbide bur for 6mm mushroom punchure
I love this guy!
well done :)
I'm an offroader and this vid makes me realize that I have screwed up big time on my plug repairs.

Oh geez, when's the last time you saw a catastrophic failure from a nail going into a tire? Well in my mind, a plug is no different than a nail except for the fact that air can no longer escape, and a plug is damn near impossible to pull out once it's inserted , this sounds a lot like scare tactics! I guess it justifies paying 4X more money to fix a minor problem
old trucker actually all the time. People don’t pay attention to their tires or wait too long for a repair. Actually being in the industry daily you see it every single day. When people drive on low tires it creates a heat ring which compromises the integrity of the tire. These style of repairs are safer than a gummy plug or rope plug on passenger cars and trucks. Plus most tire shops such as discount tire repair tires for free.
Good Instruction. Except It'd be helpful to know as a last step whether I should balance the tire after mounting.it. Do you think it's a good procedure to leave a witness mark on the tire and line that mark up after mounting it as a shortcut to balancing it? I'm thinking we shouldn't do that because the patch's weight might throw the balance off.
This type of work is hard to find, most techs are beyond lazy and don’t need to be around cars
If your in Kentucky watch out for coal truck parts laying in the hiways
Thats a mighty expensive way to repair a tire...cheaper to buy new
Wow great job but I would have vacuumed the rubber dust before you applied the glue etc so it would not accidentally contaminate the rubber cement
Yes pretty obvious!!
Many thanks for this video. I was about to patch my car's tire by myself and thanks to this professional video, I saved my life by not doing it.
good video, Thank you sir.
Cheaper to get a new tire than doing this "complete and proper" repair..
I like the end. if you cant do it right. dont do it. wise words right there
+Jacob W It's so true. Almost always fails eventually, if you take shortcuts. Sometimes a lot sooner, than later!
Jacob W
How would you know that you can't do it right without first trying to do it? WTF ! lol
That is why I don't do anything!
What madness? Everyone will repair a tire be it anywhere
This tyre ing video has left me somewhat deflated......
The car tire repair recommendations... sure.
wow so basically only 1/3 of the tread can be patched. If you are going to run over a nail, let it be in that 1/3 area.
He's over doing it but if the nail is on the side of the tire then no it cant be repaired
Bull shit the tire is repairable. His or there job is to sell you a new tire.
most tire stores want to make money, would rather you buy a new tire
Dude could use that mustache with some adhesive to form a workable plug in a pinch.
That mustache has been with me since 1972. Thanks for watching
Can you sell this products other countries
Greetings, I have knowledge of assembling and disassembling, repairing and balancing and alignment, where I can see the available works, thanks, I hope opinions and help
I wondered what had happened to Captain Kangaroo
Love that mustache
Fantastic video I Purchased the mighty system for myself and a small fleet of vehicles and I help manage at nonprofit. About 75% of the way there for the product I Purchased pay for itself. Great system. Great video.
Using this time consuming method I will have to charge $40 for tire nail hole repair in order to make a profit.
More or less,
Then freaking do it. I’d rather pay the $40 than be stranded for free.
Charge the $40 and tell them why.
I notice after patching and inflating the tire that there's a small bubble coming from the puncture every 10 seconds. Is that normal? Friend says its air pockets coming from inside the patch not outside.
Air bubbles should never be present. For air bubbles to be present the tire injury has not been sealed correctly or there is air trapped under the patch. The tire should not be used until the injury has been addressed and no air bubbles are present.
Sounds to me like you had a shity patch job done, next time just use tire plugs, it's way cheaper , and they work every bit as good at a quarter of the price, plus you don't have to go through the hassle of dismounting the tire from the rim
Well Maybe Ok but You just pulled all the adhesive from the center hole, So add a little adhesive to the patch so when you pull you have adhesive on the plug. Then do the repair per video.
Where can I find a seller of these tools?
Excellent work. From Australia.
Where to buy this products?
Thanks for your comments. To speak to your question, IMFDB, the weight in question is less than 1/4 oz. If you can mount the tire to the same position it should not change the balance. It's a business call as to yes or no- many facilities use tire rebalancing as a profit service.
I went to Costco today and they left the rubber outside they never cut it down.
Salve,il liquido buffer x la pulizia può essere sostituito con un pulitore dei dischi freno?
If you repair the injury with a mushroom plug just to drive to a Tire shop, so they can make a permanent repair, can they just use the two step method? And just prep the inside and patch? I don't carry a tire mounting apparatus in my trunk
He forgot to tell you to write the mileage, make ,model and position of tire on the car on the back of the shops biss. Card and put yhe card in the tire before mounting on rim. Its called honesty.
Good morning from Baku Azerbaijan: Boys I am looking for machine which produce tire repair string any support appreciated
What size carbide drill bit are you using for a 1/4” patch? Thank you
Very good information. Thanks for posting.
Frick I’m taking this video to Firestone tomorrow like: “Do it like this guy, or don’t do it at all”.
Only fix tires with a nail that the tire never got low below 10psi
You can fix the leak but it will blow again from being run low before.
Patching is not for tires in the last 30% of their life.
It's not worth investing the money into a dry rotted and scalloped tire.
Perfect time to change it.
Actually all 4 will make you experience a vast improved ride.
If a dip shit insists. Patch it but dont install it onto the car.
Let him do that as a lesson.
If it's on car put the spare on and give him the patched tire to swap him self st another shop or himself.
You dont want him to ever come back anyway.
Ideal candidate is a nearly new tire with a nail that you see before it's ever gone flat.
To be clear you can successfully patch and hole. The issue is the tire is crap more often than not.
Plus were glut full of crappy clients also
Enjoy your empty shop.
Now this is a repair
Where did you get the Reamer Carbide Cutter for the low speed buffer you used?
Jeff! YEAH! Why is that flat repair taking 45 minutes!!!!! :/ ummmmm. SORRY!!!!
THIS IS FOLKS THE ONLY WAY I WILL EVER ACCEPT A TYRE REPAIR....THE PRESSURE OF THE AIR IN THE TYRE ALSO HOLDS THE PATCH IN POSITION.....THIS IS THE BEST EVER......GREAT VIDEO
what if the injury is exactly on the borderline of the belt package? can the tire be patched?
If a tyre get repaired by a professional . The repair leaks , do they have to pay for a replacement Tyre ?
me I called them plug duo patchplug like I was doing in Canadian tire they are the best it will never fail good work budy
This outlined all the important elements of a proper tire repair. Anything less is a compromised solution, there is nothing wrong with compromised solution, it just means the reliability & durability suffered somewhat!
Heres the expert tip! NEVER use a greasy tire marker to identify injury location inside,(if your working on it you should see it anyway...)this will induce a contaminent you will have a hard time removing even with a good solvent wich will only spread it around leading to eventual separation of the substrate.(on the seconth video, the copper brush clearly spread some of that grease marker...) Otherwise good repair!
Why don't you just go to tire shop and ask them do it?
so that you're able to do it yourself and save a money, this could also be done by professionals
Omg I know YOU u came to a shop I worked at
His name is Dave Walworth and he worked for REMA
Hi, i love to this training video. My question is: what is grit number buffing wheel? I bought ASBC2 Buffing Disc, damaged to tires. Give me a answer, I'm happy. Thanks....
+ToolsSNAPON Thank you! The buffing rasp used in this video is an 80 grit wheel, Mighty part number TCW210-80.
In Indonesia we do the different action or steps to repairing the tire

Is it safe to patch run flat tires? Bridgestones website encourages it with some exceptions.
What happen when you accidentally use lnner line sealer instead bead sealer?
Awesome, thanks for the really great video.
where have to buy ,and what is the name of the toolkit ? Pls
How long does this take? I just had one of my tires patched at National Tire & Battery. They patched it, as opposed to plugging it. Took about an hour. They said it's guaranteed for the life of the tire.
I work at discount tire and shop time should be like 15-30 minutes that does not account for waiting time
Hope you read the comments. Its a good way to interact.
how to get the tool and how much it cost?
I Think You Should Remove Rubber Before You Add Cement , It Will Be Much Better
Absolutely correct! Make sure you are using a brass bristle brush as shown in the video (6:45). This prevents contamination of the cement.
every three months I change my BMW runflat Goodyear tire, did you have an ida for runflat tire
If you are referring to repair on run flat tires you need to consult with the Manufacturers Guidelines. Servicing of a run flat tire is based on manufacturer guidelines and they will vary.
Nice explanation
wht would one expect to pay for this service at a shop?
in sfarsit un filmulet cu adevarat bun! Il recomand in calitate de specialist.
hi I don't recive aswer for the price thk
this vid is just awesome!
How about the fire at the end of fixing the tire. I did take it to tire shop, they did the same way, except at the end he put a fire for few second. As well, what fee is normally charged?
+Park Boulevard Heat should never be applied to the repair area when performing a tire repair.
A proper and permanent repair consists of a chemical reaction that bonds the natural rubber of the inner liner to the rubber patch. This is known as vulcanization, a chemical process that converts natural rubber or related polymers into a more durable material via the addition of a sulfur accelerator. Additional heat, like fire, changes the molecular structure of the rubber surface and compromises its ability to properly seal the injury.
Thank you. I was hoping you'd do the sidewall.
Pretty sure sidewall repairs are not safe and you should always replace the tire if the sidewall is punctured or significantly damaged. I'm no expert, I'm guessing the reason is that they're too thin, a repair will probably not have the structural integrity that a stock tire would, and the risk of a blowout is very high in that case. It's even more dangerous if the tire in question is one of the front tires, mid-driving the vehicle could immediately change lanes and cause a serious accident.
I want yu sir to explain on side wall reparation plzz
very good vid.
how long it take to have a tire shop certification

if you want to spend 30 dollars on this that's fine without a road hazard that is the average price

have a patch and plug near the shoulder of a Y rated tire, is it still safe for top speed runs? Never leaked for a year and did not deform at turns. If it fails, will it be catastrophic or gradual?
lordoftheriffs79 Repairs made near the shoulder of any tire must still be contained within the belt package, which is generally limited to the center portion of the tire.
Proper repairs made to a speed rated tire may impact the rating of the tire. In this case, the industry recommendation would be to contact the specific tire manufacturer to determine THEIR policy.
+lordoftheriffs79: Speed-rated tires are a manufacturer specific thing. Last guidance I saw in Police Fleet Manager magazine indicated that a V-rated tire, properly plugged and patched, was only rated to 85 MPH afterwards. At that time, there weren't many manufacturers in the police tires game.
