This is one of the most popular Home Free songs. It was the first song I ever heard from Home Free & I was instantly hooked. It really showcases the talent of these 5 men (their tight harmonies, Tim Foust's bass & Adam Rupp's incredible beatboxing). They are my favorite a cappella group. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.
This cover was my very first Home Free song and I was addicted! I am affording myself a very special gift this year.......I'm going to see them in concert!!! Woohoo 🙌 I'm fighting breast cancer and Home Free has helped keep my face smiling and my spirits up. Check out " Listen to the Music" and " Can't Stop the Feeling". These covers will get u moving! #homefries
Nice job Justin, I don't know how you don't just watch the videos one after the other. That's what I did. 😄 Suggestions.... For their humor in the absurd watch Brother. For a collaboration, Elvira, with the Oak Ridge Boys. Tight harmonies Helplessly Hoping Original songs, Good Ol' Country Harmony (one of my favorites)
I consider “no theatrics” as a compliment. They are smashing songs with low key costumes and mostly outdoor locations. There is a reality to most of their performances, that is very engaging. Of course it’s artificial, but it’s less artificial than some groups. For wedding vibes, “Yours” slays me every time.
Chris and Adam Rupp started a group and Adam asked Chris what am I going to do because we both are tenor singers? Chris thought and told Adam Why don't learn to beat box and so he did. later on they got others to join in and Home Free was born.
Home Free: Butts Medley. Too Funny....Too Talented! React! Nuff said! Edit: No one alive today or in the future will ever know what the original sounded like. The original was never released by Columbia Records and the master recording was destroyed. This was in 1927.
The original was written in 1918 first recorded in 1927 first released by Emry Author in 1928. I don't think you will be able to find the original 😆 but watch the movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou whith George Clooney and you will see what made it popular today
Most do this song as one of the first from Home Free and are immediately amazed at how good they are . And yes they are incredible. This cover rises far above the original. Here's another explanation who and what: Although they are a Country A-cappela group, they can really sing all genres. They really all have great voices with their own specialties. Even Adam Rupp who started the group with his brother Chris Rupp. Chris left the group in 2016 to go solo but also to start other projects with his sister, among others. Adam Rupp-Beatboxer but is actually an inhuman freaking good mouth artist. Tim Foust- Deep bass but also as a tenor and everything in between is possible. Austin Brown-High tenor with his great runs and high notes. Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses)-Tenor, with a voice like velvet and so much soul. Adam Chance (back left, who is called Chance) - Baritone/ Bass, a voice so smooth and sexy. And who here also makes the Jaw harp sound. There is not a permanent lead singer in Home Free, but they look (listen) at every song whose voice suits it best. The best harmony, no egos, no rivalries, great personalities etc. Besides, they can all beatbox (see their live performance 9to5). ..
You want your world rocked , listen to their cover of Garth Brooks song "Ain't Goin' Down till the Sun Comes Up" or their cover of the Dire Straight's song, "Brothers in Arms"
Excellent reaction- thx. Hope to see many more. We - that is me and I suspect gobs of HF fans - will enjoy with you. There are so many covers and originals and ... they never disappoint. Some to try are Try Everything, Can't Stop the Feeling, Dreamer, Bless the broken road, Catch me if you can , some girls do. And they can be very funny - Butts Remix is a must. Oh, How Great Thou Art is a must. Rupp's drum solos and .....
I always wait for the reactor to see Chance "doing" the mouth harp at the very end. You happened to close your eyes at that point and (I think) you missed it lol. I watched you do that and said, "Ah, man!" Oh well - you'll catch it next time. Keep em coming!
George Clooney didn’t actually sing the song. It was performed by Dan Tyminski of Alison Krauss’ band Union Station. It was a big hit and won some awards.
This was first published in Dick Burnett in a blind fiddler from Kentucky in 1913 originally titled The Farewell song.Emery Arthur recorded a version in 1928 and gave it it’s current title. Man of Constant Sorrow was written in the very early 1900's and was recently resurrected by The Soggy Bottom Boys for the movie o brother where art thou. They have a lot of silly stuff too. You gotta do the Butts Medley
Great reaction man, Home Free rabbit hole is deep but it's a fun ride. It might be just me but I think you're becoming a Home fry and that's not a bad thing were a huge family.
@@YBMJETT hey man just wanted to let you know this song was in the movie with George Clooney “o brother where art thou” it’s a old bluegrass/folk song. I subbed because of your Homefree reactions. Your not allowed to react to Mayday by them, till you get to know them, who does what. There are surprises in this song that will blow your mind. IN THE BLOOD is another you need to check-out
The original was first recorded around 1915, a very old Folk song, then called “The Goodbye Song “, or “The Farewell Song “. You may catch the line about riding that Northern Railroad. The song is of a slave bidding farewell to all he knows and loves, before risking everything to run for freedom. Kind of brings another dimension to the song.
Now it’s time for a Chance lead. My favorite is “I Can’t Outrun You”- 5 part harmony, hauntingly beautiful, and Chance directed the video. For more 5 part harmony, “Helplessly Hoping”- it’s gorgeous. For a Tim lead, and some fun, “Champagne Taste(on a beer budget)”. Tim also wrote it. Another fun one is “Butts Remix “.
Never get a mind set on how these guys are, once you do they will switch a flip be totally different in a good way. They are truly genuine and fun, Their concerts are great and they love to interact with the crowd.
Loving your journey with Home Free! They do an awesome cover of Listen to the Music by the Doobie Brothers. For a good love song.. check out their cover of Yours. ❤
Love Home Free. Yeah Adam can do the harmonica and when live Austin (lead here) joins him and does harmonica too. They can all beatbox to a degree. Chance, back left, was doing the “mouth harp” sound. Tim can go really low and then sing high. Boys can really sound good. Try Die a Happy Man (it would be good for a wedding too), Yours, Helplessly Hoping, In the Blood. 🥰😍

This is a remake, of a remake, a cover of a cover, a cover of a remake, a remake of a cover, of a remake, of a cover of a remade cover of the original.
Home Free enhanced this song that was made popular in the movie 'O Brother Where Art Thou' done by Alison Krauss and Union Station blue grass band. What a cover!
Alison Krauss didn’t sing on this song, but Dan Tyminski from her band Union Station sang the lead vocals (the George Clooney part). The clip from the movie (and the movie itself) is wonderful. Alison did song on a few tracks for the movie; including “Down to the River to Pray” and “I’ll Fly Away.” They’re terrific.

Some reactors are of the opinion that "5 guys standing in a field" (or swamp) is a boring video in spite of the fantastic music. But HF's videos are great whether they are simple or full of theatrics - and they have both kinds. There are quite few videos where you really need to close your eyes to really appreciate the music, but the music never disappoints. Enjoy the HF rabbit hole. and I'm afraid that along the way you will find that they have artists they have collaborated with that you will want to investigate, too. Jeffrey East, The Hound & The Fox, and Peter Hollens for a start.
Home Free doesn't need a lot of added "stuff". They are totally mesmerizing just standing still and singing. They do have some videos where they "dance" (not their superpower, but we love them for trying anyway) and some that are quite hectic (the funny ones which others have already recommended below.) One of my favorites that really highlights Adam Rupp's talent is their cover of the Doobie Brothers' iconic Listen to the Music. Absolutely fabulous. And sort of at the other end is their cover of Helplessly Hoping - a master class in 5-part harmony with no percussion at all. I'm here for your journey through their entire catalog.
