    Yes, that is Steve Perry from Journey, sandwiched in between Kenny Loggins (whom you called “smooth”) and Daryl Hall. I have a great reaction recommendation for you: check out Kenny Loggins and Steve Perry’s duet “Don’t Firght It.” It’s absolute fire.
    I love your point about people who didn’t get solos. There are some greats there: The Pointer Sisters, Sheila E., Harry Belafonte, Bette Midler…

      Someone on another reaction to this song made a list of *EVERYONE* who was there that day 🎶🎵👍!!! There were so many famous people who weren't singers that showed up. Some flew 🛩️ there at a moment's notice!? Many came right after a music awards show!! *Also, yes, EVERYONE was told to leave their egos at the door🚪.*

      @@izinda I've heard that MJ wrote more of the lyrics than Lionel too, but there are about 450 words if you count all of the repeating words in the chorus every time. I'll take the over on Lionel only writing 4 1/2 word. Also Lionel wrote the melody to the song, so you can get out of here with your 99 percent BS.

    Michael Jackson accomplished his mission with the help of his powerful friends and raised millions for the African relief effort. The truly sad thing is that Paul McCartney had been invited, but he politely declined, because he was angry with Jackson buying The Beatles catalog out from under him and the remaining Beatles.

    • @gdoggatl
      @gdoggatl Рік тому +5

      All false. Paul wasn't mentioned/invited. All the immediate invitations and recording of the song happened the night of the January, 1985 American Music Awards. Paul was in England. If anything, he was a member of "Band Aid". Although he declined to be on THEIR single, he did help on their Christmas Ethiopian Relief album. The only Brit in the studio for "We Are the World" was Bob Geldof, the Band Aid founder. The American who wanted a U.S. recording was Harry Belafonte, who was there. Oh, and Michael didn't begin his initial attempt to buy the "ATV" collection, that included the 60's Lennon/McCartney songs until Summer, 1985. The transaction was completed in August, 1985. By the way, the song was at least 50% writteh by Lionel Richie.

    "Baby come to me" I think James Ingram should get so much more attention on the reactions to this song! As well as Al Jerreau "We're in this love together"" Anybody who's heard "Soft Rock" or "Smooth Jazz" in the 80's has heard both of them before. And RIP to Kenny, James, Tina, Michael, Al, Ray, and Harry Belefonte who put this song together and sang in the chorus.
    I also get sad when people overlook Kenny Loggins since he only did 2 of the most popular songs of the entire 80's decade! "Footloose" and "Highway to the Danger Zone". And that other guy after Steve Perry (Journey) was Daryl Hall (Hall & Oates) who had like 20 years of nonstop hits through the 70's and 80's. I also get amused that people can't identify the guy responsible for the main song in Back to the Future, who also had a cameo as a judge in that movie, Huey Lewis.
