I don't know DIDLEY SQUAT about install modifications. But I DO know and can recognize someone who has knowledge there of. Having said that, if you were one of the ones who gave this incredible human being a thumbs down, I pray that all of your babies and grandbabies are born nekkid!
I've used Road 6 Customs on three bikes. I really like the look and the quality.
Going from Batwing to the Road Glide this video will help installation go smoothly. Excellent video and thank you for taking your time with the installation
.
Glad it helped!
Great vid Steve! I wholeheartedly agree with Harley Handler. Best channel on YT and my personal favorite. All of your vids are informative and inspire confidence in the viewers to tackle these mods on their own. And the fact that you’re not hounding folks for patreon and putting the vids out there for free says a ton about your character! Thanks brother. Ride safe and keep ‘em comin!
Hey Kevin..thank you sir! We are going to be doing a live feed very soon I hope you can make it...of course ill post up when it will be but it will be great to talk to you guys about some upcoming changes we are thinking about on the channel...no worries it doesnt include charging for the videos lol always free, all the time!
I’ll be there!!
Great video! One comment I can make on the procedure (and I hope I am the first to tell this, as I learned this the hard way)? When the pin for the handlebar is removed (tapped down), the handlebars are free to move forward and back. And as they are pretty tall and heavy and when they are not snug, they can easily fall back onto your tank, creating a couple nice dents into your tank. So with these after market handlebars, always be aware that when you release the bolts, you catch the handlebars as just a towel will not prevent these dents.
Luckily for me, the towel prevented scratches and the dents could be removed by a specialist without painting.
Thanks a thousand. in less than 15mins we took off cluster, loosened bracket to adjust my bars on my 21 RGS back into position and put it all back together tighter in better position. First time hubby has helped wrench my bike. Steve your videos have helped me do so many things at home saving Thousands in labor.
So glad to hear that!!! thats what its all about! Amazing how moving those bars just a tad makes a huge difference isn't it?! And good on your hubby for getting out there and wrenching! Always great if you can DIY and save some money plus learn a few things along the way...never know when it will come in handy down the road!
Great tutorial on all your videos. Your patience and detail explanation is worth watching! Thanks 👍🏽
Thank you for checking it out and really hope it helped. Much appreciated!
Great video!! Your step by step explanations are on point. I installed a set last night...took me a couple of hours and they came out awesome! Keep them coming!
Thank you Joel! Glad it helped and you got your bars lined out!
Getting ready to replace the handlebars on my 2019 road glide with factory 47 12 inch bars. This video is going to help alot. Thanks
Glad to help sir!
Great video as usual Steve .
Keep safe over there.
Thank you Mark!! You as well bro! Be safe!
Great video. I watched it about 10 times before tackling my bars. Super helpful. Didn’t need to de-pin any connectors on my 2020 road glide, as it all fit through the bars.
you prolly dont care at all but does someone know a method to get back into an instagram account?
I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Lance Thiago Instablaster ;)
I just bought these bars and need to install them. Great video. Thank you!
Those are very similar to the ones I added to my 19 Roadglide Special, I have the 6" bars, they fit me perfect and are below the windshield which was vital for me, especially during cold weather rides.
Yeah man I did the same thing on my SG and stayed with 10 inch so my hands were behind the fairing. We dont do a lot of cold weather riding but man its nice when we do.
Great video thanks. The best I've seen for changing RG bars
Hey Steve, Thanks for the share. I bought the bars the put them on my 15 Road glide and they look great. I wanted to share something I found out by accident. When I de-pinned my throttle by wire connector the white center piece came all the way out and with the center piece out i found it fairing easy to de-pin.
yes I actually took that out during the de pining process when i cut the camera. I really should have just got the de pinning tool lol so much easier. I have one now and glad I spent the few bucks on it. but you need to be careful not to break any of the plastic tips that holds those pins in. Glad you got yours apart.
Thank you for your great and detailed instructions on how to install these bars. They were very easy to install.
You're welcome! Glad it helped and thanks for checking it out.
Thank you for a great video! Had to run my harnesses separately on my '18 RG Ultra...didn't have the big molex connector, but the connectors it does have made a pretty big lump, even staggered a bit. Other than that, I would say that the hydraulic clutch cable "just" was long enough! Total time to change was almost 3hrs, but that was with the required beer break. Love the bars, and again thanks for the great tips!
Youre very welcome William! thanks for checking it out. And yeah mine too...just barley reached but they do! Glad the video helped man!
Ordered the 11 inch naked bars took about 3 hours total to install myself new Grips love the bars so far also it is a 2022 so small plug for throttle by wire fairly easy install take your time on running the wires
love these bars! Get a lot of compliments on them...glad the video helped you!
I’m attempting to do my bars today. Changing to Factory 47 signature 12”. Your video is very helpful. This is my first time changing bars.
Awesome! Its pretty straight forward...I hope you got it all lined out!
@@sikbaggers it came out really good but somewhere during the install I got my ignition pins out of line so the key won’t turn to the lock position lol
That was awesome, definitely will be looking into these for my RG! APPRECIATE YOU
Thank you Rodney....glad it helped....the bars are awesome man
nice video....you guys make it look real simple. thanks for showing how its done...
Thank you for checking it out...the RG isnt that bad...pretty straight forward.
Great video Brother... Thanks gave me the confidence I needed to install my bars and avoid the stealership... I thumbs up and subscribed. Looking forward to more videos.
Thank you sir..much appreciated! Be safe and glad videos have helped you!
I have a set of Road six on my 2017 Road Glide and I love'em
Hell yeah! I rode a bike with these just before buying them and man they are nice! and the best part...affordable!
I put kst outlaws on my roadglide. Your bars look so much easier. Great video.
Ive heard that a few times about the KST bars...I do like the way the look but i have never had to pull wires on them.
KST are awesome. Set it and forget it.
Great video, I followed it step-by-step on my 2016 Road Glide Ultra, 12 inch chiseled bars, saved me $700.00 H/D wanted for installation. I have Monkey Bars, solid on the corners, 3 hour job feeding the right side wiring .
Thats awesome man...its always nice saving some bucks! Glad the video helped you!
Motown Harley Want $2k
AWESOME! I'M CONVINCED THAT THESE ARE THE BARS I'M GETTING
I see you rocking all those Dixxon flannels. Top notch shirts, top notch videos, too notch bikes.
Yes sir...Love the Dixxons! Thank you for checking out the vids man! Much appreciated.
@@sikbaggers Yes sir! I have the Bourbon, Red Line, and the Jameson in my collection. I'm a huge fan of the company and plan on buying many more. The videos are great - love what you are doing with your channel!
Just got my factory 47 bars and started this. Lucked out with the split, small throttle connector. Score
Thats awesome man....Everytime I do a 14 or 15 I cringe at the thought of seeing whats in there...its a 50/50 shot lol. Your wire job should go pretty smooth.
Love your videos! My favorite DIY Harley Davidson UA-camr. 👍🏻👍🏻
Sorry for the late reply, just got back from Sturgis ...thank you so much for checking us out and the reply!! Much appreciated.
@@sikbaggers No worries, I understand that you have alot going on. Hope your trip was safe and awesome 🤓👍🏻
Awesome explanation
Thank you for checking it out!
Nice video looking forward to getting all the custom goodies on my bike take care
Thank you Todd....glad the video's have helped.
Great video big dawg !!!!
🤙🏻😎🤙🏻
Great video . I'm not a fixing thi g kinda guy but with this lined out detail of a video I'm sure I can handle it
Another great video!
Thank you sir!
Way to go, nice install video.... I did notice a bit of cuts and editing going on in the video you know the jams and problems we all run into LOL
thanks man..and yeah...this was a long video as it was...had to take out dropping tools and making up new cuss words lol
Great tutorial. Thanks
Thank you for checking it out and glad it helped!
Excellent video thank you
Thank you! Much appreciated.
Fascinating...
Thank goodness for crown royal bags 👍
yeah man!! I use them all over the bike when working on them lol
Feed the chain and pull with the string, the chain can break. The propose of the chain is it easily follows the bars and finds the opening due to its weight and flexibility.
Awesome video brother you always have great information love the crown bag but me being a little mexican chubby dude I use patron bag lol take care god bless brother
hahhaha its all good man! Use what you got!
Awesome video dealer just quoted me 1200 bucks to do this. Thx for sharing.
OOOF! 1200??? hell id do it for a case a beer LOL Its not that bad....just take your time pulling the wires...Road glides are pretty cake...Street glides are little more complicated.
My little tip for golfers - for the brake and clutch assemblies, I use my old golf club covers the way he used a Crown Royal bag. Slip them over and they can dangle safely without fear of scratching the paint. If you have some lying around, it's better than spending money or fooling with towels and tape. LOL
yes sir Bill...great recommendation...not a golfer so I never though about that but that would work perfect!
You tube algorithms encouraged this vid 👍🏼. Yea you tube, new subscriber here. 😎
Hey Bradley thank you man! Much appreciated! Lots on our channel man and please check us out on FB page too...lots of cool dudes in there...keeping it pretty small to keep out the goofs. Thanks again for checking us out!
Thanks for the video.
Youre welcome and thank you for checking it out
Just did the bars on my 2020 FLTRK. You oughta try fishing wires through with the addition of heated grips. LOL. Frikkin headache! I put some Spooky Fast 12" bars on, they have sharp corners. Your video was a big help. Thanks man.
Hey ian we do them quite a bit here in southern illinois...and you are correct. I cringe every time I have to do a set lol
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the super! Much appreciated and grateful to help!
Awesome vidja...preciate ya homes...thank u
Awesome Video,
Thank you Andy!
Thanks sir!
Youre very welcome!
Goodnight! I'm Brazilian and I want to thank you for the video, it will definitely help a lot when changing the handlebars on my motorcycle. My doubt is about the safety pin, can you disable it, without running the risk of the handlebars not moving???
Good JOB bud...
Thank you for checking it out!
Super
Hey Steve! I have a 2020 Road Glide, I’m add 14” meat hooks by Dominator. They come pre wired. I’m just not sure if I have to change the hydraulic cables.
Hey Steve all your videos are awsome! Lots of detail! One question is what size handle bars can I go with on a 2019 Roadglide with out having to extend wires?
Thank you sir! It would be these 13" ...They are tight but it can be done.
Man, I want you to know that you are the best and explaining installs on your bike and the help you have given me is tremendous. Keep up the good work. I have a 2021 RG and changed out the bars... (some things are diff but you video has helped tremendously. Going to facebook to buy some swag. Thanks Buelos52 Texas
Glad to help!!
What was the. If difference? I’m about to change mine on a 21 RGS
Thank You for the video.....helped tremendously and I saved alot by not listening to my local "Stealership"
thats what its all about!
Really thought that de-pinning those connectors was a “I’d rather drink draino “ thing. But this video makes me think it is doable at my skill level. Damn-it, now I have to start shopping for bars.
its not terrible and if you get a cheapo de pinning tool from amazon it makes it easier...ive had those rather drink draino bars and pins before though...Ive actually said screw itm busted the connector and went to HD and bought another one and pinned it lol
Beautiful content. Do you have any videos on Factory 47 bars install on a 2022 Roadglide Special?
Thank you
i sure dont but thank you...its basically the same exact thing other than pulling wires straight through instead of out of the end caps
Steven. I have a fairly new Road Glide special and now I know exactly what I'd like to install. I would have liked to see some "beauty shots" of the installed bars on the bike, sweep the camera around them to give us all a good view. I'd also like to see somebody sitting on the bike with hands on the bards to get an idea of posture, etc. You think you could shoot a short follow up vid to show these off a bit more?
Hey...I actually had alot of that shot and edited it out because the video was so long...apologies for that. I will indeed work on shooting a short vid on these
Nice job! What torque specs did you use to tighten the clamp for the handle bars?
handlebar upper clamp screws - 16-20 ft-lbs 21.7-27.1 Nm
Great video. My only critisism would be if youre gonna do the bars, do the risor bushings at the same time. Harleys stock bushings are garbage and unless you want to do this job again soon, do them while youre there. Other than that, if you follow this video, youll have no problem doing this job by yourself or with a friend. Outstanding content as always.
never had an issue with the newer model bushings. Although I agree as back in the day they were crap....they have stepped their game up a little but that being said if you are going to change this is the time to do it. Ive had several 14 and up bikes thoughs and never really had issues with them. If people wouldnt pull their entire body weight up using the bars, the bushing would last longer. Slide your rear back on the seat and push up instead of pulling on those bars, so to speak..if that makes sense.
@@sikbaggers makes perfect sense to me. I also run a step up style seat so i use my legs more than the bars. Love your channel and my 87 year old mother says you have as sexy a voice as Sam Elliot lol. I had to share that with you.
Great video sir. ?- 13 RGlide, picked out Klockwerks Kliphangers, went to order, nothing available except 15& up. Said they made nothing for the older RG’s- any idea if they’ll fit anyway? And what is the difference between old and new. TIA if you’re able to help
Great video! I have watched other videos and they say 14" is max before you have to start changing other stuff. I also seen something about pulling a fuse so codes don't pop up after? And if a guy added heated grips this would be the time to do it do you have a video on that aswell. Subscribed ride safe!
Yes sir...you can pull the fuse or clear them after you change the bars...easy to do through the speedo...And yes...for sure! if you are doing heated grips do it now! lol We did a set of bars on a 17 SG and they guy brought the heated grips over 3 days later...I asked him if he knew how those were installed and he said "plug them in right'? lol yeah through the bars we just had off the bike....ugh haha live and learn i guess.
Steve - I know u mentioned the complexities of the Street Glide bar replacement… do u happen to have a video of replacing bars on the batwing?
I do not but im working on getting one in here to do bars on though. I did my sg bars years ago before I was really doing any videos. Im working on it though
Im looking to put 14" bars on my 2017 RG ultra, do it need wire and brake/clutch hydro extenders??
I can honestly say I'm not looking forward to this job...Thanks for the vid it will help a lot.
Hey Mike your very welcome..its really not too bad ...just take your time and youll be gold. No need to rush this kind of job...hardest part is de pinning that molex connecter if you have that. may get lucky and have the small one that pulls right through.
Anyway you could do a handlebar change 12 inch mini apes Outlaws on a 2016 Fat Bob
Steve, do you see any real difference for this install on 2012 RG?
nice dixxon. got the same one lol
I have a 2017 Road Glide Ultra with heated grips. Does it change much to change the bars with heated grips?
I enjoyed the video very easy to follow
not really just an extra wire and small plug...makes it a bit more of a pain to pull the wires that's all
Wish I'd seen the road 6 bars before wasting money on the kst bars. I don't know if there was some sort of weld booger inside the bar or what, but no amount of trying could get the wires through, and trying was just tearing wire up. Ended up scrapping several hundred dollars worth of new bar and going back to the stock shit bars on my RK. If this virus ever goes away, I'm saving up to try again with these.
Ive never installed the KST's but I have seen their videos...they make it look easy lol but most of them do. These were pretty straight forward to pull the wires on...no boogers for sure...the throttle side will always be a bit harder to do but just some patience and pulling/pushing you'll get it.
What size are those bar in your video? I order the 15inch wondering do they fit with stock wiring?
I used hill country customs top clamp and new urethane bushings. On my 16 I didn't have that big connector. I didn't have to depinho anything thank god.
Hey tim yeah they make some great bars...installed some of those on a buddies bike. You got lucky. its weird because my 14 didnt have it but my 15 did and man its no fun. I couldnt not for the life of me find me de pining tool so I did it the hard way. Super easy to break those little prongs in there if you dont get it right.
Awesome video! Looking forward to upgrading my bars on my Road Glide. Did you replace the riser bushings or are you using the OEM ones?
Didnt mess with the bushings, thats a quite a bit larger install and there is nothing wrong with the ones I have.
@@sikbaggers Copy that. I was told I'd need to upgrade the bushings to polyurethane bushings if I were to do taller bars. Definitely upgrading my RGS with this bars very soon. Thank you for the information and keep the great videos coming brotha!
@@campamanny you can but unless there is a lot of play it’s not worth it if you have to tighten the neck bearings then I would change them due to having everything off again
Great video , just finished mine step by step and bars look great ! But after installing cluster back on I’m not able to insert ignition bezel cover back on , very tight and won’t snap on , tried redoing cluster several times and same bezel won’t fit and and no ignition won’t press down and allow fork to lock if I force bezel in like this and might also snap bottom tab that locks in , any advice ????
That ignition bezel was definitely an after thought by Harley lol you just have to press in the front tabs and then find a small pick or screwdriver to push the rear one down and click it in....if the tabs break, which they do, you can get a replacement on amazon. Ive had to do it a few times. Chrome amzn.to/49zrrb0 and black amzn.to/3UC6b04
I've been wantinug to swap bars to apes and I just bought my 23 road glide maybe 2 weeks ago. I keep being told that I need to run longer brake and clutch cables to do this.
that really depends on the size you want to run...all you ned to do is call a company like KST and ask...they have changed so many bars they will be able to tell you is you need cables
does this also work with heated grips on a 2020 limited ?
What is the torque spec for the handlebars? Love your videos extremely helpful thank you
Glad the videos help! The upper clamp bolts are 16-20 ft-lbs
@@sikbaggers thank you
Do you know where I can purchase switches that fit in that gauge cluster piece that has the dummy caps? Sorry, I don't know the correct name for that piece that has the dummy caps.
I followed your fantastic instructions step-by-step however, once I finish the check engine light was on on my motorcycle. I have a 2019 Road Glide. Can you think of an idea why this may have happened? Or what should I do
absolutely normal...you just had a bunch of stuff unhooked so the ECM is telling you...follow my video here to test and clear your codes. If everything is hooked up right it shouldn't through those codes anymore. ua-cam.com/video/ZV8xONzYsTU/v-deo.html
Thanks for 🤣the good advices 😉
Where can I buy that mesh to run the wires internally on the handlebars? Pls n thx
All your videos are great. I saw this video and I really like these bars except I cannot seem to find them for my bike on the Road 6 website. I have a 2018 Road Glide Special with the 1-1/4" clamping area. Any help would be appreciated.
store.road6customs.com/2015-2020-Road-Glide-NAKED-Handlebars-r6c2015roadglidenaked.htm these are the ones i installed in the video, they are the same for 15 to 20...1 - 1/4 inch , just pick the length you want
Do I need to do anything with the clutch or brake for the 12inch bars?
no you can do exactly like I did in the video and remove that plate that hos the wires in and you will have enough wire
Great video, ordered the 13" bars from "Road 6 Customs", on the way to Europe now.
Will let you know if this is a good choice, tried different types/brands already, never satisfied........
Got my 13” “Road 6 custom” handlebars delivered and installed, easily done with the great video. Did my first run with it and this is the correct handlebar for my length, strongly recommended this handlebar.
What’s the other smaller plug on the throttle for??
👍💯
Thank you!
Great video...what de pin tool do you recommend from Amazon??
Ive bought them all...they are all pretty much useless lol I just use a paper clip, a precision flat head or a safety pin
I found it very difficult to get off the clips on the right side of the cluster with fingers.
You can adjust your bars with the pin in but it limits your adjustment to about 15 degrees max. (At least with stock bars) I Would just knock the pin flush as you did.
Awesome that you're doing a video on the bars I've been planning to get. Did you mention what size bars they are and I missed it? Are those the 13"?? Road 6 Customs says you can go to a max of 13" before you would need wire extensions?
Great videos! Keep up the great work and thank you!
Sorry I just saw this comment yes they are the 13 inch bars
@@sikbaggers Thanks.
Steve, I’m 6’4 so for comfortable riding position on my factory 47’s there pushed all the way forward. With that I’m not able to put in the two screws on the side of the gauge cluster. Have you seen this issue before ? I used electrical tape to secure the cluster together. Any ideas to get the screws back in ?
unfortunately no...if the bars are in front of the holes im not sure how you would get to them...and that piece goes on last...so im not sure. May have to just pull your bars back a little
How much taller can you go on the bars before needed extensions? BTW love the channel
Thank you sir...with the RG its right at 13" bars...these are 13 and the cables barley reach doing what I did in the video by removing the zip ties and the central wire plate.
New Sub ..good info . You definitely know your shit . What a pain in the ass de-pinning that connection
Where can b I get that ratchet you use in all your videos?
Wd40 will remove a glued on grip
Hey do you know where I could find a new throttle by wire with that bigger plug? Because I tried Harley dealer by my house and they keep giving me a little one?
I would check on ebay because youll keep getting the smaller one as they changed it
I noticed you didn’t change the bushings. Is it not needed, are the bars solid after install?
No need to change the bushings unless yours are sloppy, or getting sloppy. If they are then this is the best time change them out.
Is the 14 inch the max before having to change brake lines and clutch lines and wiring kits 2015 road glide special
Hey Patrick sorry I just saw this...15 inch is pushing it with the road glides. If I went any taller I would look into cables for sure.
