I ordered 12" pre wired for my 2015 ultra limited low. Should have them in a few days gonna sway them myself. Done a bunch just never on a Harley. This video helps me out
That is less complicated than I thought it would be. You mentioned a 6" extension. What do you mean and where can I find one? Thank you for sharing, for us visual learners.
Glad I could help! The extension can be found on namzcustomcycleproducts.com/product-category/namz-wiring-products/plug-n-play-harnesses/complete-bike-harnesses/ that’s where I get all my wiring from, it’s a section of wires with a male and female connector, you plug it into the wires on the bars and then into the bike. I like to wait till the wires are through the bars to do it so you’re not adding more resistance when you go to pull the wires through.
Dang, is it that simple??? I have a set of bars still in the box since a year ago because I haven't found the time to get the bike to the shop (2020 FLHTP). With these excellent instructions I think I'll give it a try. Thanks a lot, man, appreciate your presentation. Really well explained 👍🤙
I’m glad you liked the video! If you have some tools and determination you’ll be able to get it done! First try just take your time and be patient! Glad I can help, thanks for watching!
@@garydumpson4346 the throttle by wire has to be de-pinned, it’s been a while for me but I can’t remember if I talked about that in the video. I have a video on my channel about Harley connectors that might help you out!
I have used the clutch cable extensions on the newer bikes and haven’t had any trouble or complaints. I would recommend getting the metal upgraded cable adjuster from far baggers though if you go this route🤙🏼
Thanks for watching! Tri glide is going to be the exact same, except the connectors are different, I do have a video about removing the connectors for that year harley though. Simple procedure and basically the same process, hope this helps 👍🏻
I'll have to pick one up, do they work well for the vinyl loom as well? I've made my fair share of repairs from knicking wires while using a razor blade lol.
Ive changed 5 sets on M8 Softails and 1 Dyna and replaced the riser bushings with poly. No fairings. Never on a touring. I just bought a 22 SGST. I couldn't tell but can I get to the bushings without removing the fairing any farther?
You can pop those bushings out by tilting the fairing forward like I do in the video. I do however recommend having someone hold the fairing out of the way if possible because the fairing will have to move a decent bit
With a 2020 you’ll be able to run 12 inch bars without changing any cables or extending wiring. I believe you can go up to 14 inch with stock brake lines and clutch but it can be tricky. Hopefully this helps!
The check engine light typically comes from when you “open” the circuit to the controls. The way to clear them is by holding down on the odometer switch with the ignition off, while holding the odometer switch turn ignition on, once ignition is on release the odometer switch. You will then use short presses of that switch to scroll through the different types of codes, and to access and clear codes you press and hold. For example one menu says ECM: you would press and hold to access and then press and hold to clear👍🏻
No problem glad I could help! I remove the ignition switch to make it easier on myself. I’ve seen people do it without removing the ignition switch, but it can be a hassle when putting the fairing back on. If you don’t remove it and the trim piece below it you’ll have to lift the fairing over it.
Thank you and thanks for the quick response, I see guys disconnecting the battery or removing the main fuse, is that a must do? Apologies for the questions.
@@geedubb-q1u yeah, the only slight issue is the location of the female connectors under the radio, you have to re-position them. Which admittedly I didn’t show well in this video. I put a link to some short wire extensions in the description of the video, they’re not necessary but someone asked about them so I added it. The throttle by wire, clutch line, and brake lines don’t need to be changed for 12 inch bars. Hope this helps👍🏻
So I just did this myself yesterday and put everything back together went to start the bike but would not start is there something I need to do. I put 10" dominators pre wired on only had to transfer my throttle by wire. Please help😬.
First I would start with checking your fuses. If all that appears to be in order, check your ignition switch in front of the gas tank. Sometimes the barrel can get turned if you remove the ignition like I showed, and you’re actually only putting the bike into accessory mode. If that is the case, the easiest way to do the ignition alignment is with an ignition alignment tool, I’ll post a link when I can. If the ignition switch is functioning correctly, and all the fuses are good, check to make sure you hooked up the wire harness to the proper side.
@@KevinSornig so everything turns on when I turn switch on left side blinkers work fuel pump high/ low beam . Nothing on right side works so I took everything apart to make sure no wires were pinched and so far can’t find anything wrong with it
Okay, so where I would go from here if you haven’t checked already would be for a loose or unplugged connector in the fairing. Also, I’ve seen once before with pre-wired bars, one of the wires on the handlebar harness went to the wrong spot if that makes sense

Do i need to change brakes and clutch cables if installing a 14” on a 2017 electra glide?

Can you use stock mirrors on this handlebars switch to 12” ?
@@JoseRodriguez-m5v you definitely can👍🏻 I prefer to install handlebar mounted mirrors but I can still see out of the stock mirrors
Good video but remember the hight of the bars might require others to need more parts.
