FYI it's a dowl pin under the bar that locates it from the factory . You can use a punch to punch it down out of the way . Then locate your bar where you want it .
Also adjust your controls so they are level . ( clutch and throttle)
They have locational dowels as well
Trim them if needed but most of the time you have plenty of adjustment there to get them level.
Just trying to help
👊
Hi everyone. Great video! I was able to adjust mine (just now) without loosening the bottom bolts. I loosened just the top two and the bars rotated up nicely. I didn't have to remove the lock cylinder or even unplug the instruments. Was remarkably easy.
Finally🤦.....This is what us Working Class Old School riders have known and down with our Bikes...Side note...Anybody who buys a brandnew bike should have the handlbars adjusted like this at the dealer to fit them best before riding it out of the parking lot....Thanks for this video👍😎
Or watch this video and do it themselves ;)
For sure...But on principle on paying over 20K for a Bike...I would make the dealer do it...
That's true!
Brother, your video was money!!!!! Took me a few minutes longer than 30 minutes, but I was able to make the adjustment on my 2023 RG Anniversary Special and man oh man what difference that made. I'm way more comfortable and I have so much more control of her when riding. You saved me a cool grand not buying a new set of bars. Great video. Thank you
Glad it helped!!
Dude
Thank you!!!!
Purchased my 2022 HD RG yesterday. Rode it home and was bummed about the bars and how uncomfortable they were (I’m 6’1 and felt cramped). Didn’t want to go through all new bars due to cost and time. This was exactly what I needed to see! Simple mod with huge upside. Bars are perfect! Feels great and looks great! Thanks again.
Under 30 minutes and a huge difference, thanks for the guide!! 👊🏽
Right on, brother! 🤘
Thanks for the video, Helped alot. I was able to pop the bars out on my new 23 and grab the pin with vice grips turn it back and forth and get it out.
Is that the trick? Pull that pin out under the bars? Do you feel they have enough clearance not to cut the cables going into the bars?
Great video!. I took my time and it went just as described, other than I didn’t have to pull my lock out to take off that U-shaped cover. Well, this gave me extra height I wanted. At 6’4”, this made a big improvement in comfort. Thanks so much for sharing.
Great video, thanks a million, now to try them out hopefully tomorrow being we are having thunderstorms right now . Again thanks
I wrap the handlebars with electrical tape, right where they sit, before I loosen the screws. Thick and against the clamps they sit in. It keeps the handlebars from moving side to side.
Thanks for the tutorial, I still messed up the tumbler reinstalling it but was able to figure it out. The bars feel really good and I am questioning getting new ones now.
Nice! I'm still rocking the stock 😂
Man I love this. Thanks for this video and showing such a thorough walkthrough. I’ve been debating on getting new bars, but I don’t mind the look of my stock setup and would love to save myself the money. I’m gonna give this a crack and see how it turns out.
It's definitely a good option until you figure out what you want to do for bars. I still haven't purchased any after this adjustment. Good luck!
Liked & subscribed, thank you for making this video, look forward to all your content, speed safe, Aloha, Kenneth
Awesome, Kenneth! Welcome!
Super helpful just got my new RG and that wheelbarrow handlebar position has to go
Glad I could help!
Easy mod! Thanks for making this.👍
Great video, but help me, what am I doing wrong?? my 2019 RG has that pin on the bottom that you mentioned. To loosen the bolts more and go past this pin is not possible. No other hope for the pin to drop into to sit flat. I took the plate all the way off. Next hole is where the wires feed into the bar tubes. Help please
Excellent video..........thanks..
Great tip. 👊👍
So I tried adjusting the bars today. Took everything off smooth as silk, loosened the screws on bars but the bars wouldn't adjust up only down. Thoughts?
Loosen them more, or take them all the way out.
@@ChewyVlogs12 ill keep you updated thanks
Took apart the handle bars, their seems to ba a screw or pin that goes into the bars which prevents me from moving the bars higher up.
Anyone who has the same issue, hammer out the pin with a hammer and screwdriver type tool as it pushes in quite easily then adjust the bars.
So weird that I didn't have to do that. Thanks for sharing the info!
Hi great channel very nice mounted ;)
Thank you!
Ahhh wish id found this video last Friday when i picked up my RG. Tried adjusting the bara, didnt know about the clip and thought there was something else blocking them from going forward so i left them alone.
T bars and new bezel arrived today so ill be doing those on Saturday anyway, but would have been nice to not have the bars in my lap for the last week.
T bars or moto are the way to go! I couldn't stand the wheelbarrow stock set up
@@ChewyVlogs12 yessir, I used to dislike t bars/moto bars for cosmetic reasons. Then I rode a bike with t bars and now that's all I run. Actually just finished the last coat of paint on my new bezel, bars go on tomorrow. 🤘
It's a game changer for sure. Full control over the bike. Just put the 6.5 pullback risers with mid bends on my Dyna and I wouldn't run anything else.
No need to adjust levers?
Awesome video dude, quick one I was told you have to knock the pin out otherwise the bars won’t sit right? I’m guessing that’s wrong? I’m about to do this tomorrow!
How did it turn out? I've heard that as well, but clearly I didn't run into any issues and didn't have to physically try to knock the pin out. You should be able to just bypass it, but I'm no expert Harley Davidson mechanic.
How does it handle now? This looks like a perfect Sunday project…
It feels like you have a better handle on the bike, and more comfortable. I would recommend it to any taller riders.
👍 Nice
Going to try doing it myself over the weekend. You mention to be carefull not to lose the spring near the end. Should i be holding something when installing the ignition?
The spring under the key insert will actually hold itself in via a slot. You should be good, just wanted to bring it up because there's a possibility it can fall off. Just keep an eye on it as you put your key insert back in.
@@ChewyVlogs12 Thank you. Great video, easy to follow for me (I have 10 thumbs lol)
@@InHimwillitrust thank you! Another one coming soon!
Did you have to adjust your front brake lever and clutch lever too, or does it still sit in a good position?. I have a 23 RGS and I want to this. I’m a taller rider at 6’2” and I feel as if the handlebars are going to hit my knees when taking a tight turn. Thank you!.
I believe I did do a minor adjustment. But that is very easy to do with a torx bit
Algorithm 😮
Nothing says awesome like getting your handlebars closer and closer to the rear view mirrors of every car you pass
Gotta live on the edge sometimes! ;-)
How does loosing it help clear the “pin”?
Loosening it just enough for the bracket to slip past the pin.
I did this and now my handlebar can't be block
I did mine the same way until I changed them lol
What did you end up getting?
@@ChewyVlogs12 12 inch Yaffes first then I switch over to some Triple OG 18 inch Ram Horns. Look at the shorts on my channel
ua-cam.com/users/shortsbdNWzwUlvQw?feature=share
You left out the part where you were supposed to adjust your controls
Everyone keeps talking about the pin, some removed and looks like you didn’t. I asked my dealer to adjust it and they said they did an inch like wtf lol
i did the same thing but i knock out the pin
Knocked it out or pulled it out? I’m trying to do this now
@@johnford3761 i knock mine out through the bottom and it fell to the floor
Damn, can’t seem to get the lock out.
Turn the ignition like you're locking the forks, then turn the key one more turn left and it will pop out.
@@ChewyVlogs12 not on my 22.
Gotta make sure you have it pressed down... It will work on a 22.
I can hear a clicking when you turn back out to remove key but lock doesn’t pull out.
