Great video. It's probably worth mentioning that the Rogue is intended to be using the Bandolier right at the start. I mistakenly thought you were supposed to save up for it but the text on flip side of the letter says "With their trusty bandolier..." which is supposed to indicate they start with it, even though it's not on their card specifically. This was clarified officially on the Avalon Hill Discord.
homebrew rogue: my new rogues have to go through a three quest series which grants them another skill at the end: - backstab, the rogue now can roll one extra attack die if attacking a monster from behind.
this character has gotten rarer... I am troubled by the fact that Avalon Hill promised not to repeat the "Guardian Knight" situation but then have allowed this hero collection to largely fall out of print. here's hoping (and you can help promote his cause on social media to avalon hill and hasbro gaming!) the Rogue Heir of Elethorn makes a re-appearance in future expansions (much like the Knight did in Rise of the Dread Moon). no more "limited run" exclusives... HeroQuest in retail for the foreseeable future for the people!
They did a reprint of the Monk not to long ago & I think with First Light bringing new blood to the game they may have some incentive to reprint the Rouge. After all, hero packs are cheaper then large box expansions & better suited to people just starting the core game as you can pick them up immediately at quest 1 (not to mention it's easier to house rule in a few extra people with extra hero's). If I was AH, I'd be trying to get more Rouges & Monks on the shelf next to copy's of First Light just to try & get a few extra dollars from interested people.
I think the 'opportunistic Striker' ability triggers when the monster is standing next to another hero. Not when the rogue is standing next to another hero. Feel free to correct me though. Reading the card and how its worded can be a bit confusing. EDIT: If I am correct, when you ranged attack a monster, and the barbarian or dwarf is already standing next to the targeted monster, you may throw an extra combat die. This makes the crossbow on rogue even more strong.
@@wimvho I can totally read it two different ways, but I believe your interpretation makes more sense. Giving the Rogue more strength ranged. Thanks for the correction!
the Rogue is pretty fun to play even if he is a bit weak overall. I altered the "multi-attack" rule from Avalon Hill's intentions... I just make the attacks against one target a big roll... and the victim defends at the end, no "unblockable" attacks. However, I make an exception for the Rogue's multi-attack.. I think without it he is a little TOO weak. I think the Rogue is more fun to play than the Knight (though the knight is easier), but not quite as good as the Monk who is my favorite of the new heroes (though I also enjoy the Bard quite a bit, though I change him to a Pirate or Cleric... I don't mind that he's an Orc or Half-Orc whatever you think he is)
I need to go to The Bard more often. He's been neglected in my dungeon. I imagine him as a Orc Pirate as well. I thought that was implied, or maybe it's just me.
I would like to know how do you equipe the Rogue? Do you let him take only the bracer? Which also could be of good use for the wizard... do you let him wear a helmet, even though it is metal?
@joachim701 I know, right?! Officially, Bracers. But, if you check out the HQ: Unofficial Guidebok, I've added Leather Armor by a homebrewer named Banjo. He has a lot of awesome content. Check out his website at... Banjogames.wordpress.com

Good point!

@@jeanlucgatoh I'd like to see a Rogue Skill card for that.
For opportunistic striker - no need to be in melee range, as daggers can be thrown as the extra combat dice.
Yes, that's correct. Let the daggers fly! 🗡

I'm surprised it's been a stinker? I love anything, Elf! It's been my favorite since I was 10. If it was a success, it wouldn't be so hard to come by.

@@yodaflyz That would make one heck of a display.
Great video! Hope to see more of class focus like this!
@@SgtHouse Thanks for watching. That's the plan with my channel. Do you have a character class you'd like me to cover next?
@TheFair-WeatherMan You're welcome, and any chance on reviewing the Monk or Explorer next?
@SgtHouse I'll do the Monk next and than the Explorer. Thanks for the suggestion.
