I love super robots as much as the next guy, but it's been way too long since we got an actual real robot series like 08th MS Team. Give me malfunctioning manipulators and leg joints. Give me running out of ammo and getting lost in the jungle and falling into canyons. Honestly, a series following a Zeon squad from arrival on Earth up to evacuation is my dream gundam show.
I would love an anime adaptation of Rise From The Ashes, the Gundam sidestory with no actual Gundams in it, just a GM grunt team doing their best in the ruins of Australia. Hell, just a remake of the game with updated controls, a better squad management interface, and more missions would probably be a huge hit. I'd argue Rise From The Ashes is the absolute pinnacle of real robot-ness in the UC, or at least damn near the top.
08th MS is love. This looks amazing and the newly announced parachute accessory pack (with GM Head!) make me want to get into HGs and abandon my MG/RG only lifestyle.

I used to have the old HGUC Ground Gundam from the Ground War Set and while that kit was pretty darn decent for it's time, this is a very nice improvement over it. The color separation on the chest and knees is a nice upgrade.
I just started building this yesterday. I like the fact that it comes with other numbers beside the "08" for the 8th MS Team. Now I can make my own platoon. I'm doing a custom desert camo paintjob on this one (my first). Wish me luck :)
100mm machine gun no longer has the trigger guard, slight differences to the 180mm rifle barrel, slide rack for the 18cm rifle is improved. Can't wait for this improved kit to come in, as soon as the hgac leo decided to be officially released.
Huh, I'll be damned, you're right... The trigger guard on the 100mm wasn't part of the original design of the gun, but all the previous model kits included one - I never noticed that before...
The extra weapons and head are pretty much just the ground GM's parts. I think the only new thing in it is the parachute pack itself. Even that may be taken from the old EZ-8.
That kit looks AWESOME! It comes with nearly EVERYTHING you would want for the Ground Gundam! ...Except the Hovertruck, but I've already got four (two from the Ground War set, two from two P-Bandai HGUC White Dingo GM Sniper II's, so I'm good, personally!
Just currently working on my 1/144 HG Hardgraph RX79 [G] Ground war set. Well there are good and bad points between this new one, but still loving this series' units. Hardgraph also includes waterslides for it's markings

I also have the Ground War set (I really wanted the hovertrucks!) and I'm planning on buying the newly announced P-Bandai Ground Gundam (Parachute Pack Ver.) which comes with nearly EVERYTHING used by in 08th MS team- including the namesake, the parachute pack used in the intro (not the one used later in the series that comes with the EZ-8)
No, it's not shooting over the shield in that scene. The shield was clearly in the fore ground while the Gundam ground type firing in the back ground tens of meters away from it. Bandai made a huge mistake.
Just started building this kit this morning and noticed on the very first step, the black portion of the torso is just kinda..loose in there. It literally just flops around between the chest and waist section. Kinda weird. Unless I’m just totally missing something in the instruction booklet.
7:10 I've said this on every video with this style of Shield and it has never been addressed properly. With the shield all the way extended like that it flips over the hand perfectly giving you the impression that he is holding it in his hand. I've never seen a single gunpla reviewer mention that

I own the old HGUC Gundam Ground Type and ohh boiii,that was probably my most favorite gunpla so far,for the time,that kit was the best,and i'm happy that i own it. It was a fun kit to pose and play with,the pointy bits on the knees being white,the limited articulation on the ball jointed hips,and the chest vents being a sticker was a bit disappointing but the overall kit is good enough to ignore these small problems.(also it can stand up on it's own even with the backpack on it's back)
My only complaint about this kit is the stickers. The yellow and black triangle stickers come off every so often while the white center triangle falls off very easily. I recommend either painting them in or making your own stickers to put on.
The only thing this kit is missing is the multi missile launcher, but that will be in the P Bandai Parachute ver. Now I just need it to go live for preorder somewhere.
I intend to do a review(on my other channel) on this with comparisons and integrability tests with various other versions of Ground Gundam/GM/EZ8/EZSR... because I throw way too much money at these models =w=; Heck if the opportunity arises I may get the P-bandai variant just to get that parachute pack. Self-control? Never heard of it!
Unfortunately I already have the whole team! The Gundam Ground War Set even has the command tank and GM Head. Just finished the Gouf Custom yesterday. Great stuff.

Just got this kit recently, problem is the ball joint on it's chest. I'm not sure if this is just my copy suffering from a ball joint issue but it is very loose and keeps popping in and out and that annoys me.
@@ZakuAurelius glad to know because I just broke said kit, I had the ball opposite and got it permanently stuck and tore it apart. Experience ruined, maybe if I buy another one could confirm that my first copy of the ball joint was bad and to replace the chest part.
GM Ground Type (Both Old and Revive) Ground Gundams (All Versions) and EZ8 have all compatible Back packs, Im not sure about the EZSR if they are compatible with the Ground units, also the Blue Destiny Units PS that last part Freaked the hell out of me
You should see the new P bandai Ground Gundam just announced with a littoral FUCK TON of accessories. So everything from it comes with now, plus a GM head, GM bazooka, rocket launcher, missile launcher, net gun and parachute thruster back pack.
I would like something like bandai did to the leo and make a full weapon set for the ground gundam. The ground it's made for more accesories and you could build an army with diferent weapons

I got the old HG Gundam Ground Type in the ground warfare set. Although the old model is quite bad compared to the new one it comes with a lot of decals and extras in this particular set. I just love the 08th MS Team so i'm ordering a new version of the HG Ground Gundam and safe my decals for that. Also got myself a GM Ground type coming so i have a little team that can then take on the mighty 1/100 scale zaku II :D

Personally I would really like it if they included the rocket launcher from the ground type GM into more of these kits. Blue Destiny unit 1 definitely would have benefited from having a rocket launcher included
I think that shield connection is going to be an issue on all similar future kits, on my Blue Destiny unit 3 the shield wouldn't stay on so I added a thin bit of polystyrene from the flat bit of a runner to one side of the connected then sanded it down till it was a tight fit.
I still prefer the look of the old HGUC ver, but obviously this one is far more superior than the old one. One thing that I find out these years is...bandai kits are getting better and better....and sometimes the parts separation is a bit lacking or articulation is a bit less, people complain like it's the end of the world.... I mean, the shoulder articulation is totally fine, what do you expect? It's not a Mobile Fighter after all....
White piece that goes around the vent on mine doesn't seem like it is sturdy. It stays on but I feel if i touch it, it will just fall off. Does yours do that as well?
Ground Gundam actually. The type-S is essentially just an upgraded Gundam Head. I also like the Ground Gundam a liiiittle bit more so, points to that as well
still prefer this version of the gundam over pretty much any other, even the og one. it gets tiresome to see the ridiculously over the top and over powered plot armor super man machines. 08th MS team was a breath of fresh air in the gundam franchise lol.

They just announced a p bandai version of this kit that pretty much comes with every accessory imaginable.
The extra weapons and head are pretty much just the ground GM's parts. I think the only new thing in it is the parachute pack itself. Even that may be taken from the old EZ-8.
