- Here's the High-Grade 1/144 scale Moon Gundam. Believe the hype! This kit is fantastic. The price may seem high for an HG, but with the size of the kit, the level of detail, and everything that's included it's definitely money well spent!

Tbh I really want an MG of it. Imagine this being a ver ka kit
That would be crazy amazing
Actually the Moon Gundam is more for Neo Zeon. Basically the story behind the Moon Gundam was that Amuro was doing a patrol and encountered Titans remnants and fought their prototype Gundam type suit. He defeated it and the head and psyco plates drifted toward the moon base with Neo Zeons on it. They took the head and psyco plates and put it on the prototype of the Sazabi; the Varguil and gave it a new color scheme.
Not a neo zeno moon base, it was the moon moon colony. If you didnt watch ZZ its basically a space colony but the people inside it are very reclusive and reject the advancements of technology. Their society is that simillar to an aztec tribe.
@@datgood121 I did not watch ZZ yet and thanks for the correction. Sorry about that slip up haha
@@foriamjustacommenter7141 no prob bro, give zz a shot
I got all that in the unboxing when Zach showed the entire story from the instruction booklet
is chapter 7 out?
lore wise i feel like the moon gundam is more or less a proof of concept than a "if this succeeds it's ready to be a sazabi." proof of concepts don't have to be full size. as long as the concept itself works in the end then the next project can be whatever.
its the Varguil, not the Moon Gundam(Varguil + Unnamed Titans gundam)
It’s a mishmash
Only components that actually come from a Gundam are the head and psycho plate
Titans moon Gundam when?
@@jailbotmark1379 "Unnamed Titans gundam" the owner of the head and psyco plates
@@GenJuhru the titan gundam was gp06
@@tenkuken7168 already in the manga Mk.4 Psycho G-Doors, kinda stupid name...G-Gates would be less stupid, but oh well its a throw-away suit so no biggie
The sazabi is 25.6 meters tall and the original RX-78 is 18.5 meters. So almost 1.5x taller than your average Gundam.
Sazabi is basically as big as you get before becoming a MA.
this scares me , need a bigger Gundam

Imagine if they're gonna make an HGUC Revive of the Nu Gundam and the Sazabi with this same tech and approach in the parts engineering. It would be awesome IMO.
@Nicholas Tyson and i don't care :/
It might not happen due to the RG
I mean that’s what the real grade accomplishes for the most part.
You know, I really dont mind the price if all the new HG has the same amount of details yet still remains completely solid unlike most of the RGs
You kinda missed what the torso articulation can actually do. The moon can actually tilt side to side pretty well and has a pretty decent ab crunch and can even arch backwards.
Personally Moon still doesn’t top the things Heavy Gundam can do, but it’s still definitely a really good kit.
Something I don't see many people mentioning anywhere is that the psychoplate pieces can connect top and bottom as well as side to side, which makes me think they might reuse the runners for a G-Doors kit in the future.
Already do that, only need missing half to make it like full g door plate
Built this kit 2 weeks ago. A great kit. HGs rock this time of the year. Also waiting for your hg sinanju stein review.
I loved this kit I painted & panel lined all of it! It holds together way better then most of my RG kits!
you can't lie: those psychoplates actually resemble a strawberry jam.
I picked this guy up for about 40 bucks at thunkgeek, but I'm quite satisfied with the kit. I love how it looks with my RG and MGs. Ippei Gyoubo is one of my favorite Japanese artist. The guy also designed mobile suits for Reconquista in G, wich has more influence in this than the ones he did for IBO.
"Hello, this is my autobot review..."
😂😂
Nice transformer bro
the price is not that pricey tho considering you got the free action base
It's not free. You're paying for it. so yeah...
@@zer0bre Agreed. A better word would be 'included'. Still, a good price all things considered!
I got mine for 4 bucks (plus shipping) thanks to coupons
@@YBPaladin i have seen this raw strength only once before
@@YBPaladin they said it couldn't be done. you're the chosen one
Honestly the 3000 yen price is mainly that high because of the stand included
Also the rg sazabi is taller than it should be
RG sazabi is taller than it should be by like 3mm
@@jw5803 it's still a noticeable difference between the rg and hg
The detail, the sturdiness, the legs, THE LEGS! Very, very worth it for that price. Oh yeah, THE LEGS!!!
Pretty damn close to being the best HG if not the best so far, very nice.
I hope other suits in the series come out too, I really like the Rick Dijeh.
Great review. Haven't assemble mine though but box size wise, it is larger than RE 100 Gun EZ, so yeah, price per plastic count n weight, definitely worth it
You forgot to show the nice little gimmick it have on the waist to kind of emulate the stomach crunch, but it was a very nice review! :D
There’s a difference between favor kit and best kit. Options vs facts. Due to the Moon Gundam’s engineering it is the best HG ever made.
Amuro fought aside of this suit using a Zeon-ish custom suit , best duo i saw
I think this is a kit that Bandai took the opportunity to flex with. Like "Here, look at how great we can make a high grade!" Because I don't believe every single HG from now on will have this exact level of detail. If they did most kits would be $25-$40 depending on the MS and at that point what's the point of RGs anymore?
However, if they do plan on keep ONE characteristic of this kit moving forward for HGs under blue Bandai I hope it's the part separation for eyes. I can paint details, I can replace stickers for waterslides, I can customize to hell and back. But one thing I can't stand are eye stickers.
people that said this is the best HG hasn't explored HG origin yet
hmmm well still the best kit for me for the HG line is the 00 kits like the 00 raiser and 00 qanT, they have super to nearly amazing articulation(both of my kits are 5 years old now and even with mulitiple poses no lose joints)
People are confusing this, it's not Neo Zeon made. It was made on Moon Moon colony hence Moon Gundam, they took the Titans Psyco Gundam head that diffed from space and a partially destroyed Varguill from a Neo Zeon vs Londo Bell battle nearby to make this. The protag witness the ZZ Gundam fight inside Moon Moon many years ago so he actually made this Gundam in the image.
The wiki says it's literally made and operated by neo zeon using parts from the psyco Gundam v
Hope they make an HG Varguil. It's as easy as replacing the head and colirs and removing the psycho plates
#MOONlightbutterflyGUNDAM
Maybe best so far. If Bandai keep up the good work.. the next one could be better. :)
Spicy Build I doubt they can continue to make more and more incredible HGs, they’re at least gonna take a break and release a few simpler HGs before they do something like this again.
The fixed pose arm isn't included because the psycho plates are heavy. The articulated arms handle the weight very well. They included the static arm because otherwise you can't put the plates in the exact pose that it has in the pictures. Notice that the fixed arm has a connection slightly angled while the articulated is straight.
I don't know if it was just me, but has shipping cost gone up on USAGundamStore? I tried making an order for the hguc revive rx-78 and a sheet of decals and the only shipping option was like $30 :/ I took off the decals but it was still a lot more expensive than the last 4 orders I've made.
Love it good job
i wish more kits would come with stands
HGUC Moon Gundam has full inner frames in the arms and legs. It's really cool overall! Love Moon Gundam!
*RG Moon Gundam, Bandai just made it HG to bamboozle us
To be fair the revive zaku II has a almost full inner-frame so…
I sure want a Moon Gundam!
Love that red psycho plate
Sadly i can't afford one '-'
For now😂
The jelly sandwich is pretty awesome
I'm wondering which kit to get between this and the new HG sinanju stein, heard good comments about both of them
Get the moon gundam
Gyobu Ippei, which is the designers of the moon gundam also design pretty much all the MS in the G-Reco series except the G-self. His design style and aesthetics is so unique and I like it and I kinda don't like it at the same time. Few UC timeline MS that designed by him really doesn't look like something that came from UC to me....but I quite like the Moon gundam design tho.
3000 yen MSRP, you get a stand and a pretty decent kit in a box that cost around 2500 yen. Not bad at all IMO.
叶川ヒロ Did he also design IBO? I’m noticing a trend in high heel feet
@@YBPaladin Yes, he did the original Gusion, Kimaris, Vidar and some others MS.
it's still kind of weird that one of prototypes of the Sazabi was converted into a Gundam unit.
It's still a Neo Zeon MS
@@eins2001 eh, not really. It isn't used by neo zeon, and honestly it would be much better to say it's under the use of the moon moon colony
@@dol_mel7487 Damnit moon moon!
@@kevingarcia6746 it's literally marked as a federation suit (including the hg) even if zeon developed it
I like everything about the design except how small the feet are, and the shoulder shape. The kit looks great though!
If my math is correct the RG should be .069% of the size of the actual Sazabi. Soooo take .0069 and multiply it by 25.6 (overall height of the Sazabi in meters) and you get .176 then move the decimal over two places and you get 17.6. If the RG Sazabi isn’t 17.6 cm then either my math was way off or Bandai’s math was way off.
Looks like a Reconquista in G Gundam, since the designer also designed most of all the Mobile Suits there.
How’s ur HG Moon Gundam standing now? Is it still standing? Parts still solid? Cause my one just started to fall apart in a few weeks-months...
Ippei also designed mobile suits from G-Reco so it has a more G-Reco feel than UC or IBO mobile suits.
I see the posability of the psycho plates and it's so so cool looking but I gotta say...I still have trouble imagining what it could be used for aside from a cool looking shield. Does it, in canon, work like funnels?
it can stab/pierce through objects like a projectile but becomes vulnerable to beam fire eventhough it also can function as a shield, meaning it has modes(speculating)
guys what do i doo my moon gundam's head vanished into the void (fell somewhere) and i was in school when it happened. kinda stupid but do u guys have tips for finding lost pieces? replacement parts for the entire head is almost 1k php and its price is barely any different from the gosh darn kit.
Mikael Alt Hopefully you found it dude but if not the only thing you can do is use a replacement head from another model
I normally don’t buy HG kits, since I’m always disappointed, but I saw this at Hobby Lobby and had to pick it up. $20 after using their coupon, I’m super excited to paint this thing up 👍
So in your opinion what's the best HG you've ever built?
Personally for me it's the HGUC GM ii. Mainly because it was the first HG I ever built and 12 year old me was a suck-up for visor suits.
Hubcap rx-78-2 revive ver. Nice, simple, solid, and beautiful articulation.
My second would be the hgbf gm/gm
hg dantalion, amazing muscle booster
00 harute
HG build strike galaxy cosmos
whoever designed this kit needs a raise
The Varguil initial price will tell how much this kit would have been if it weren’t for the backpack and base.
I really want a real grade or a master grade of the moon gundam. And Bandai has no excuse saying it only needs a HG cuz it’s only in a manga, but look at the astray red frame. Unless I’m mistaken, its only in a manga too.
Hello good sir how to solidify the crescent moon psychoplate
The universal Century definitely has a style to it and I think this design works pretty well.
Although that said I'm not usually too picky with design decisions for the universal century.
Because he practically broke that mold a long time ago when they decided hey you know what the universal Century needs "pirate Gundams"
I may be alone in this but I always thought the aesthetic for Gundam crossbone looked more G Gundam than Universal century.
Especially the full cloth with those boxing glove skulls
Crossbone is pretty much the super robot part of UC at this point....
Moon Gundam should get its own anime.
Craig Harvey-Gurr For real, the manga is better than ZZ
What hg gundam do you think is the best???
“Moon Prism Power Make-Up!” - Wait, wrong moon……. :p
For this, I’ll just panel line this, top coat, and call it a day.
Why even top coat? There's nothing to protect.
@@zer0bre The texture from a matte topcoat makes any model look less plastic-y and more realistic.
Was wondering if its possible to pose him riding the moon part
Hmm... yeah, should be doable!
The Prequel to Mobile Suit Gundam Char's Counterattack.
Only part I don't like is the antenna on the back of the head, if I'm going to build this one I will clip it off right away.
Dude this Gundam was a prototype to the sazabi and ok it's your choice if wanna, everybody got creative idea on customize gunpla just like trying to customize narrative C packs parts with moon parts
What is your best HG of all time?
Any Fumina kit. The French maid comes to mind. :)
4:14 with a lil bit of tweaking and some creativity you can make the psycho plates as like a "full cloth" mod for the moon gundam

I'm gonna paint this in rx 78 z1 colors. Full zeon in color ,and some zeon weapons( zaku ii machine gun and zaku iii custom beam rifle). Not sure if I want a gelgoog or geara doga shield,I mean the z1 gundam had a gelgoog shield? but this gundam is neo zeon...
Zeon trembles at the thought of the Psycho Hoagie
Technically this is a zeon suit innit
@@account6555 The body is Neo Zeon, but the head and the hoagie are from a Titans remnant.
@@account6555 not really, since it isn't used by neo zeon, I can't say it's realistically a neo zeon suit
Is this kit more like a rg reimagined in a hg or is it just me?
I wasn't planning to paint the psycho plates before I built this guy, then I did and some of the nubs on them were horrible. Why would bandai put big thick nubs right on a clear piece. Ugh.
Will they eventually make most every gundam in say the RG line?
No
is the psychoplates floppy to you guys
I just want to paint it like the Sazabi
I just don’t understand the clear colored parts like that on gunpla anywhere besides the eyes and cameras. Can someone explain to me their purpose to me in the anime?
if you mean the one on the psycho plates, I think it's similar to unicorn's psycho frame.
To make the toys look good
Forgot real grades, this is mastergrade levels of quality
*Forget
And some MG were ashamed by the details of most RG
rg can beat mg any day now
UNIVERSE!
wrong series?
Anyone complaining about the price for a hg just remember how much the neo zeong and dendrobium cost. They are both hg kits.
Those kits are MASSIVE compared to this though, so that argument doesn't hold up. One of Neo Zeong's propellant tanks is bigger than this kit.
@@MuShinnen correction: one of Neo-Zeong's propellant tanks is bigger than some people's hands. that thing is MASSIVE.
Everyone must have one acguy.
Does it have an "almost full" inner frame like how those HGIBO kits have their own???
The legs and parts of the arms have an inner frame but the chest is pretty standard for a modern HG.
Yes, in the arms and legs (and the waist somewhat). It's really sturdy as a result.

Does anyone know what the plates actually do? I assume they're for shielding and for smashing into things, but the wiki doesn't go into any detail.
Its a great hg in disguise as an rg, but would it be a good rg
I've been meaning to pick one up but no where has it, ugh!
I think gundamplanet got their shipments today
My local hobby store only got *six* in recently and sold out immediately. Trying to snag one when they get another shipment.
Only problem I have with this thing is I can't unsee the psycho plate pieces looking like the Nazi SS font...
no ab crunch and toe bend is a negative
I make my gundams ride zoids.
the legs on mine wont bend, like they wont raise up or down from left or right, any idea why?
Probably assembled something wrong? Take the legs apart (carefully) and re-assemble following the instructions closely. Should solve your issue! 👍
@@ZakuAurelius simple fix, the leg to waist connector inside was facing the wrong way

Yo Zack, its much closer to G Reco designs than IBO when you look at it closely.
Also, not buying this in the hopes bandai will release the Varguil in Retail. Lol
Same I kinda prefer the head of the Varguil
@@rezaleon7453 just buy it when it come out.
The varquil will probably be cheaper only coming with funnels
a Varguil kit will let you make Moon Gundam‼ but prolly no psycho plates and stands
Joseph Jobo Licayan they have the same mechanical designer
I keep on nicknaming gundam moon, blood moon because the side, that you see in front of the moon-shaped psycho plates, is red “obviously.” Well, if there was a red variant of gundam moon, then it would make more sense
Without any doubt, Neon Zeon are very lazy making a Gundam bootleg. They just put a Gundam head on a AMS and paint it.
the head controls the psycho plates, so it'd be dumb not to take advantage of such tech. But the color scheme tho, the green RX-78-Z1 & red RX-78/CA is understandable but imitating the og gundam colors...
Neo Zeon didn't make the moon gundam, the moon moon colony did. Basically what happened was that Amuro shot down a gundam prototype that the Titans remnants created and the head and psycho plates drifted to moon moon colony who ended up storing the pieces. Later on the Neo Zeon get into a fight with Londo Bell and they use their Varguil (the sazabi prototype) which ends up getting partially destroyed and the colony takes in its pieces too. Then the people in the colony take the head and psycho plates from the gundam and the body of the varguil, put them together and repaint it into gundam style colors.
Anyone ever figured out the purpose of the extra slot/connection parts on the psycho plates? Is it for a full-moon psycho plate thing or something else?
Hantavirus Rat It's for 2 things:
1. Full moon psycho plate but you can only make the full moon if you buy 2 Moon Gundams.
2. Blade mode, you make it by connecting the plates together in a line.
@@IJCQ xD yeah i figured it out myself when i bought 4 Moon Gundams and connected 2 sets of the plates, i even connected all four and made it even bigger
This is no hg boy. No hg!
It's like an IBO design that got the HGUC treatment, with supreme color separation, articulation, and lack of seams.
That's because this mobile suit was designed by the same mecha designer of Gundam IBO
Kiki, do you love me?
Lol, moonmoon is cool. And will they release the fullmoon one? Or the original titan's.
It's a great kit, but I'd rather get an RG anyday.
You should still get it though, it would be a different experience, and it's a pretty decent design.
well, in general the rg line is a bit bigger then their HG counterpart.
MoonRunedam I’m not sorry
This kit is just a little to off for my taste. But I see this being good for a kit bash. The legs look great an the main body isn't bad. The shoulders are a little to big also don't care for the goofy moon thing on the back.
The legs sell this kit for me. I just want them for another kit.
@@MuShinnen I was thinking the same thing. It's like the strike gundam legs but just a little more beefy. The chest isn't to bad.
@@buckroger6456 I'm not a fan of the chest. Reminds me of the GP01 gundam's. I'd take the legs and probably try kitbashing them with the Sinanju Stein, or maybe the Gundam Delta Kai.
@@MuShinnen I would change the feet out as well. Don't care for the high heel look that a lot of these gundam's have. Also never cared for the bright toy like colors these suits always come in.
@@buckroger6456 I don't mind the feet, I just don't think they fit on those beefy legs. Feet like the Nu Gundam would better fit this to me. In terms of colors, I like the general revil colors. Some orange with off white, or light gray would be pretty sweet.
Why does it say BOOBS on the ground gundam's shoulder?!
