Watch the BBC first on iPlayer 👉 bbc.in/iPlayer-Home David Attenborough has been looking back on his life, and coming up with some possibe ways to deal with the immense challenges that face the planet with climate change. In a film to be released in cinemas and Netflix later this year he warns that “human beings have overrun the world”.
In David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet, the 93-year-old broadcaster says, “This film is my witness statement and my vision for the future - the story of how we came to make this our greatest mistake and how if we act now, we can yet put it right.” In this interview with Andrew Marr he calls for an end to waste.

      @hascleavrahmbenyoseph7186 2 роки тому

@@muayboran6111 Here is the action we must take! Technology is the indirect cause of climate change. We need a new Global Economic Model GEM
that supports a new definition of profit, and this 'profit' definition must map well with nature's economy. In nature, we have been paid in full, in
advance, and our job is to gain sustenance without going into Overshoot.
I recommend this definition: Profit = our gratefulness and loving care for our Environment, and for the sustenance that it provides to all of us.
Clearly, this definition of profit does require a new GEM.
The central part of the new Global Economic Model should be the EPA. EPA members will vote on the best 'Profit' definition that states sustenance
is our only actual 'gain' without which we can't live, and states that the environment is our only source of sustenance.
As the central hub of the new GEM, EPA members will establish, by vote, all directives related to both, the GEM and climate rescue strategies.
Here are just some rough ideas of what the EPA directives might be:
1.) Population: Initially we need a one child per family directive.
2.) In place of income, jobs would have an 'equivalency rating'. Some jobs are still more important and more difficult than others.
3.) All equivalency ratings will increase at the same time if and when the environment becomes healthier. The lowest EquivRate must still be livable.
4.) Everyone who can work will be able, and required, to get jobs. No more expenses, so no more cutting jobs to reduce expenses; thus, virtually no more homelessness.
5.) No manufacturing of useless and unnecessary products. All products will be scrutinized by various rating methods.
6.) Whenever possible products should last a lifetime and or be easily upgradable, so we don't buy the same products repeatedly.
7.) EPA will direct "Work Force Flow". Example: Shoe manufacturer will produce 100yearLife shoes for 3 years, then reduce output to
about 1/10 of full capacity, and the majority of shoe employees will be shifted to other work assignments by the EPA.
Employees still keep their EquivRate in-between jobs.
I know that this is just a rough outline of what we must do, but it's a good starting point.
This is our Ark. Please help build it! Questions, suggestions and any comments for or against this idea will be very deeply appreciated. Thank you!

We are now living in a world of declining resources, a world whose climate has been seriously affected, a world whose ecological condition is deteriorating. The balance has been tipped and changed, and the human family as a whole must unite and gather together to deal with these great challenges. Divided, humanity will fail, but united humanity can chart a new course, generated not by high ethics or religious principles, but by sheer necessity itself. We must face the world with our eyes open, each person taking responsibility to become a contributor, not a victim, in a new world reality. I really hope that much of the population watches this, and that they become more aware to what they are doing, and how we can change our daily lives to suit the planet. It breaks my heart as to how careless some people are when it comes to the environment and its' creatures. I truly hope people pay attention to this film. Humans do not run this world, we are supposed to live in harmony with all wildlife, not dominate them and turn them into the tame. I cannot say that any louder. Dear Mr. Sir David Attenborough:
I just like to express my heartfelt admiration and gratitude to you. I have been eagerly watching and enjoying your documentary videos since I was 10 years old. Your god’s giving unique style, body language and knowledge to showcasing various characteristics of animals, species and their roles in the mutual interconnection system is really remarkable. I believe you are one of those chosen to do so. As a Muslim, I strongly believe that ALLAH Almighty is the creator, the keeper of the whole universe and everything else it it. No other associates nor partners with him. Consequently, must be solely worshipped, feared and given all credit ,acknowledgment and gratitude. I know that you aren’t a religious man as you stated in one of your TV interviews, but in my opinion you don’t have to be a religious to give credit to God. Just let nature’s instincts kick.
We all going to die sooner or later. As a Muslim, I believe in judgement day as well as the
    eternal life after death. (Another
life). I also believe that we all going to meet God almighty individually and therefore we will be held accountable for our actions. And everyone will get a fair return for good or bad behaviors. In conclusion, I would like you put all our religion and cultural differences aside and think this matter over. What if I was telling you was true? And that you were convinced and embraced Islam, therefor you will be one those lucky survivors in the other eternal life. Now It’s up to you sir.
Because I like you very much, I strongly feel obligated to inform you that. I wish you all the best.
I will keep watching, enjoying your documentary videos no matter what your response is.
    Best regards.

What a ridiculous thing to say. What a silly person you are.
      What a babble...
      It is most pathetic!!!
If we are living in this mess today, it's partly due to the superstitious beliefs that people like you hold on this planet. Those who use the planets resources and comfortably believe that an almighty Allah, Jehovah, Yahweh, Lord, Shiva, Ahura etc is created this world and also an afterlife. Therefore automatically you religious zombies think that what went wrong in this life will be mended on the next. And we only need to worship our Allah and praise him and go to haj and grow a disgusting beard and read our old book of evil. Therefore any effort to fix this planet, to make this world a better place to make the most out of this life which is the only life we're going to get is out of the question. You lot make me sick. Sitting in saudit Arabia, selling what earth hid under your feet 100 million years ago for American dollars, something that you didn't work for. You were just so lucky that in the west people weren't as dumb as you and created science and invented technology and also came and studied the land you lived on and found out that there was some black goo hidden underneath and they paid you for it to use it for their technologies. For something that you didn't even know it was there. Now you use that free money to buy the results of modernity, modern thinking, modern science and enlightenment and the only thing you produce is the most toxic form of superstitious dangerous divisive beliefs. The planet needs saving, human life is killing it, we need to change, and you're talking about your deity??!
And now you want to save Sir David Attenborough by introducing him to your bloodthirsty Allah?!!! What a joke.
It's actually tragic and comic at the same time.
I do feel pity for us as species to be so divided and slaves to these viruses that we received from previous generations without being able to shake them off and now in 21st century we are where we are!
      Alas...

Veria A I find it genuinely amusing that people like you fall into this very predictable category. You have an opinion on something and have such an overblown ego that you think that opinion actually matters or that everyone else is required to hear it. Then you express that opinion through poorly formed sentences, childish insults and rude resentment. Then you become offended and upset when people point out that you are behaving childish and rude. You fall back on the typical rhetoric of “but it’s my opinion!! You people just don’t know how to disagree!!” just because people pick up on your obviously attention-seeking behaviour.

David Attenborough and Dame Dr. Jane Goodall are just a few sisters and brothers who have dedicated their lives to enlighten you and I to how fragile our eco system can be. They also give us hope. I live by two sayings: "Something good comes from something adverse." "The adverse is there to smack you upside the head to wake you up." Second: "There's always a solution."
Each generation has it's challenges, mine were the Viet Nam War, the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's Movement, Three assasinations JFK, RK and King, Chernobyl and Three mile Island, and becoming aware of the pullution we were spewing into our environment. We have come a long way but we have a long way to go. I look at Covid-19 as our smack upside the head. We can either learn and grow from the experience or stay stupid and destroy ourselves. And so on 🤷, I hate the waste I see every day like stupid plastic toys from McDonalds that get played with for about 10 minutes then thrown away!! People that get in there cars to drive 10 minutes down the road 😕 it all adds up! It's got to stop!!! I don't have a car I walk everywhere I don't go on lavish holidays, I don't buy my kid stupid happy meals with toys, it's things like that that everyone needs to think about and change! JJgamer 123 you can go on holiday abroad. But flying by plane is certainly not efficient. I agree. If we want things to change then money speaks. If people think about things. Also we waste so much food when there are plenty of people starving. There are many fantastic toys that last generations which are great but people should learn not to throw toys out, or buy toys that don’t last. I guess they should learn to treat things with respect as well. We can all play our part. Simple things for instance as well like eating a lot less meat. Buy local, it might be more expensive but worth it for the planet and to support local businesses. In regards to holidays there are plenty of great things to do in your country as well.

And also people think it's their God given right to travel on planes to see the world but is it really? I know it's a bit harsh to say that but at the same time if we really think about it what we are doing to our planet is a bit harsh! And also I'd like to say it's not just our planet!

I agree with the message of this documentary, BUT: The Netherlands is not a hero country, rather a horrific country when it comes to battling loss of biodiversity and climate change. Last May, 2020, ecologists from Wageningen University warned that some 90 % of the natural habitats, 70% of plant and 40% of bird species will disappear from the Netherlands. Our left-over nature reserves are disconnected patches. They are under thread by the deposition of nitrogen, causing loss of biodiversity. The principal part of these nitrogen emissions comes from intensive and unsustainable farming. The Dutch government is doing nothing substantial to limit these nitrogen emissions, scared as it is for farmers who are running the intensive agriculture and wo simply don’t care for the environment or future generations.
A true hero country should have as goal: living in balance with nature. The goal can no longer be: economy first. However, the latter is the case particularly in the Netherlands. We should instead turn farmland into forest, in a way that isolated patches of nature are connected, giving space for larger animals in the food chain to thrive, so we can build a healthy ecosystem from the ground up. In order to achieve this polluting farmers must be forced to sell their land. Farmers should realize they do not "own" land, they only borrow it from the next generation.

Oil wont run out. Go and find out about the known reserves and then check demand.

It’s the carbon in the atmosphere that is the issue and not the amount of oil left.
We will be extinct long before we burn all the fossil fuel. It’s got to stay in the ground if we are to have any chance at all.

@@mixedracebajan6119 I remember in the late 1970's being told by "experts" that absolutely oil was going to "run out". There had been only so many dinosaurs and there was only a finite amount of oil. Obviously, it would run out "soon", < 50 years. You were called a "denier" or worse if you did not agree with this.
      Sound familiar?

spillarge So, are we just going to ignore the vast pile of evidence that climate change is occuring and simply “pretend” that he is indoctrinating us? I’m curious, what motive does this man apparently have for feeding us fake information? What does he gain from us all not using fossil fuels?
