It gives me goosebumps to see what we have done to our planet. I've changed my life in such a way that it creates less impact on our planet but only a few people's efforts are not enough to see the visible changes or save our one and only home. We have to work collectively to ensure that this planet could be home to our future generations. Otherwise, we are heading to extinction.

Nice to see all the idiots on these comments trying to say this video is wrong by complaining about their personal pet peeve: a valuable lesson for us, because these are the sort of people and the sorts of arguments we need to practice overcoming.
I promise you me as a Gen Z I’m going to help support this later on in the future. This breaks my heart that people don’t care about these type of things when In reality we have to do something before it’s to late.
Not saying we shouldn't take steps to take care of our Home, but people need to realize there have been doomsday scientists predicting the end of the world for decades now. Here are some of the warnings from the past that'll end in our demise: Peak oil We'll all vaporize in blue steam Ice age Acid rain Global warming Ocean acidification Now it's climate change It's alarming that elites of the world all congregate to specific cities to have meetings behind closed doors to address climate change. Why fly private jets? Why not use Zoom, since we all did that during lockdown?
Most people I know watched it and went "wow what can I do about it..this is so sad" , while they munch into their beef burger. The suggestion to go plant based is just unthinkable for them.. even if it means extinction of life as we know it on earth. We are literally eating ourselves to extinction.
Also, you forgot that the plant industry is as corrupt as the meat industry, farm land drives species out of their habitats, most farmers use pesticides which can pollute water, killing of polen insects and the spread of non-native plants

"best" for whom? If other living beings could talk, do you think the fish would say humans are great? or the trees, or the chimps, or the whales? @covid-19, absolutely, its more sustainable. Does sensory pleasure justify taking someone's life and affecting the planet? Have you tried plant-based meats loads of people are eating?
Not really. First thing is to not have children. Diet with some meat, that excludes beef, in moderation is not much worse than plant based. All of that, your car, diet etc. are a drop in the ocean, when you work for corporations that cause more emissions than you can even imagine, when the money you keep in your bank account or retirement fund is used to finance fossil fuel industries. When you rycle plastic, but it still goes unsorted to China and than dumped into the ocean. You see, the carbon footprint, although true concept, was invented by BP and when applied to indyvidual consumer its a form of greenwashing meant to distract you from what corporations are doing and don't challenge status quo that is capitalism.

This is the most immotionally intelligent comment I have read here (I've read a few). I was wondering why we often consider ourselves separate from nature instead of part of it? The term 'environment' is such an abstract term, don't you think? It contributes to a feeling of seperateness. Tackling the climate and ecological emergency is not an abstract task. I don't think it'll be acheived by setting more goals or targets. It'll require a deep shift in conciousness. In response to your comment, I've enjoyed reading work by the author, Joanna Macy who talks about 'the work that reconnects' which you may like. Planting trees is one of the literal least helpful things you could do. Obviously you should do it where possible but it's literally the lowest priority. What needs sorting straight away is to get to net zero carbon usage. We already have the technology of solar, wind hydro and tidal. These are all relatively easy and cheap to make [especially first two]. Most developed country citizens can afford to solar panel their houses and switch heating and cooking to efficient, easily convertible to renewable electric sources like heat pumps and induction. And cut meat down as much as you possibly can as the C02 output for producing meat vs plant based food is insane [although some vitamins are very hard to obtain without it].
@Folabi the industrialized economies have the stringest environmental restrictions and laws! Third world economies do NOT care nor enforce plastic recycling nor waste management programs
@Folabi bullshit. Energy is only a small portion of a nation's carbon and waste footprint. Most emissions are in transportation, meat stock food production and petroleum product production and extraction. All heavily regulated industries in first world countries. The third world needs a one child policy which will alleviate their massive poverty

Us humans think we have major problems, a family friends passes away, money issues, or even silly problems like having to go to work today or taking an interview which could change your whole future but what we don't realise is, the animals that are becoming extinct don't get these choices, their only aim in life is to maybe find a mate, but to survive. And seeing as they only have one aim we are doing a jolly good job of stoping them reach their one goal. Lets not think about ourselves for once. And think about the planet

Please also check out the Creative society project. a lot of similar interesting information was told on the conference "GLOBAL CRISIS. THIS ALREADY AFFECTS EVERYONE"
Problem is simply overpopulation... it's a society as a whole population problem. The only way to "fix" it is to deny people their right to procreate. And for the majority, that simply won't be tolerated. So, that will not happen sadly until it's too late, and the majority of species and resources we depend on, are gone. Forever. In order to have a sustainable societal system, you have to balance. Balance of all things. Fairly and sustainably. Once we hit the point where we realize that we are as a society, as a culture, as whole... are acting like deadly parasites to this beautiful world, and the wide majority are affected by the loss of resources we depend on, and people wake up all of a sudden to this reality that we created ourselves. We will already have used up the resources, the species that are extinct will be gone, and it will be too late. Our only hope to save this planet, is hope that an ET species other than ourselves will intervene, because human culture as we have come to be, is simply toxic. It would take unthinkably massive effort to change our direction to better our situation. Do I think we are capable of doing it ourselves? No. I don't. It will take another massive disaster like the great flood to reset this planet and usher in a new way of thinking towards society. Because our governments, and our culture, simply do not have the will power to do it. If the governments of the world attempted drastic measures, the people would just fight them, for their "human rights" So it's just a total loss at this point. People will drag things on, continue populating, and consume everything we can until we can't anymore, and then, it will be too late. It's so sad.
@@yourangelinfleshorsackclot1523 Don't know if you meant that in general or not, but I mean, we are all guilty and contribute towards the downfall. Planet will be fine. Humanity will extinct. Earth will slowly regenerate over time. Remember it's billions years old. We are here for like 2800 years of documented history. That's less than a spit.
We can't fathom time like that. We do understand what 100 years means. Billions? That's beyond the grasp of human understanding.

Not saying we shouldn't take steps to take care of our Home, but people need to realize there have been doomsday scientists predicting the end of the world for decades now.
Here are some of the warnings from the past that'll end in our demise:
Peak oil
We'll all vaporize in blue steam
Ice age
Acid rain
Global warming
Ocean acidification
Now it's climate change
It's alarming that elites of the world all congregate to specific cities to have meetings behind closed doors to address climate change.
Veganism is malnutrition
Nature is cruel, things die so other things live, humans are omnivores, we can eat meat but he have to do it in a sustainable way.
Also, you forgot that the plant industry is as corrupt as the meat industry, farm land drives species out of their habitats, most farmers use pesticides which can pollute water, killing of polen insects and the spread of non-native plants
We must keep a balance between food and the environment, even david attenborough belives that.
@@davidmowbray4230 nope U can either go vegan or be vegetarian! Veganism is not malnutrition, it is more healthy diet as it does not cause viral disease or pandemic like meat or rotten meat does!
It depends on what you eat. Western countries do not have enough variety of vegetarian dishes and that's why they don't like vegetarian or vegan.
We all have been very fortunate to live in this era. I remember Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom and Jack Cousteau explorations of 'his' underwater world. "best" for whom? If other living beings could talk, do you think the fish would say humans are great? or the trees, or the chimps, or the whales? hi oz
And one of the very best things we can do to help this crisis and the climate crisis is to live a plant-based lifestyle.
Nah, just stop supporting 3rd worlders. They work on SHORT TIME HORIZONS.
Crying. I've seen it happen, too. On a larger scale. And all around me. Trying to conserve and not use more than I need. And chose not to have children. I hope many more people will, too

it's not going to make headline news every day, so we have to talk, post and create around this subject as much as possible. make it a conversation you have with your family/friends, share this video to your socials & figure out exactly what you can do to help. we all can do more to be more aware/ educated so we can act in a positive way. it's easy to feel hypocritical around these subjects, but the truth is that no-one is perfect. we're all in this together, just make sure you're not one of the selfish ones.

How many kids you got?
This is the most immotionally intelligent comment I have read here (I've read a few).
I was wondering why we often consider ourselves separate from nature instead of part of it? The term 'environment' is such an abstract term, don't you think? It contributes to a feeling of seperateness. Tackling the climate and ecological emergency is not an abstract task. I don't think it'll be acheived by setting more goals or targets. It'll require a deep shift in conciousness.
In response to your comment, I've enjoyed reading work by the author, Joanna Macy who talks about 'the work that reconnects' which you may like. I think we can move toward a future full of abundance and beauty; and live a life FULL of meaning. If we respect biodiversity and steward the land then we can ALL prosper for generations to come.

Trees won’t do it all
Planting trees is one of the literal least helpful things you could do.

Start in the third world by mandating one child policy
Ya
@Folabi the industrialized economies have the stringest environmental restrictions and laws! Third world economies do NOT care nor enforce plastic recycling nor waste management programs
@Folabi bullshit. Energy is only a small portion of a nation's carbon and waste footprint. Most emissions are in transportation, meat stock food production and petroleum product production and extraction. All heavily regulated industries in first world countries. The third world needs a one child policy which will alleviate their massive poverty
Thanos could have used it to create clean energy

. I grew up in Richmond in Surrey and my playground was Richmond Park. I wrote about this in Firstgreensteps because there has been a serious decline in British wildlife.
The issue is that a majority of humans have the reactive and not proactive mindset, so a major change has to happen soon

Life is work
Us humans think we have major problems, a family friends passes away, money issues, or even silly problems like having to go to work today or taking an interview which could change your whole future but what we don't realise is, the animals that are becoming extinct don't get these choices, their only aim in life is to maybe find a mate, but to survive. And seeing as they only have one aim we are doing a jolly good job of stoping them reach their one goal. Lets not think about ourselves for once. And think about the planet
I remember being at school, hearing about the same issues raised in this clip. I was told that the earth would be 'unlivable' by the year 2000. I remember a couple of kids crying in class. Why didn't that come true?
It's complicated setting a date for that, but every year they get closer and closer to it, whether if they were mistaken or just wanted to frighten us so we began to worry and take action..
Many bad things will happen to us beyond, the rising of seas, growing desserts, or permafrost defrosting.. And beyond wildlife & environment..
Because the math was off by fifty years.
When you were growing up your elders had only just begun to use up the recources required for you to live a stable future.
