I would like to see a scene where Batman or someone else who can't fly asks her why she has an invisible plane as they're getting in and she responds by saying either a. "Oh, so you'd like me to carry you then?" or b. "It is an invisible plane. Why would I NOT have one?"
+TheWingless "I shall leave you as you left me, marooned for all eternity in a two-part television pilot that was never picked up. Buried in obscurity. Buried in obscurity."
+TheWingless "Ah, Wonder Woman, my old friend, do you know the Klingon proverb that tells us revenge is a dish that is best served with four donkeys for no explicable reason."
anyone find it odd how the entertainment industry can be described as Disney vs Warner Bros. cartoons: Disney has Mickey Mouse and Warner has Bugs Bunny, Disney has Marvel, Warner has DC
Proof, not that any is needed, that Ricardo Montalban is one of the coolest human beings that ever lived and that he can make anything worth watching. I can't even watch one of his old Chrysler ads without ending up in a dreamy, semi-hypnotized state and saying to myself: "Yes, a Cordoba. Buying a Cordoba would solve all my problems and make everything right with the universe.."
Hah I was drinking some water while reading this comment, and I laughed so hard I accidentally spat out water all over myself. Signs of a good genuine laugh - I did something super silly and gross, but STILL felt compelled to mention it.
That was fun. Cheap as hell and confusingly written, but still fun. Wonder Woman is such a unique, one-of-a-kind character that even during a period of open sexism, she can still come off as a competent hero we can identify with.
Making Wonder Woman a regular human with kung-fu abilities is actually entirely accurate to the Wonder Woman Comics at the time. That was her status quo for about five years from 1968 to 1973. It's probably not a coincidence that she was changed back to being a super powerful Amazonian not long after this movie came out. Also, the movie reviews itself: "Painful... a little."
"Huh, I never knew that Tijuana animal porn had such a rigorous screening process." I died. The line is so masterfully delivered by the Snob too, bravo.
+Capng123 Ya, "The Snob" is really knowledgeable when it comes to video game history. He likes to throw in a reference every few episodes. That's just one more reason why I love him. P.S. I wish I still had my "Odyssey". You could barely call it a video game system but it sure came with a lot of accessories. lol
I like to think that the guy who kisses his own finger and then touches her forehead is actually Maxwell Lord. It would explain a lot. Comicbook buffs know what I mean. KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
Does anyone else really love those old goofy 70s live action superhero shows and movies? I mean at least they usually got the costumes right unlike the early 00s superhero movies.
+Zane Seibert What I dislike about the costumes in current movies and the past 16 years is they manage to make even the real costumes look like CGI. (I know, I know... They probably do it so actual CG scenes blend in better, but it still looks awful).
+Gasoline85 I think most of the Deadpool costume looked real enough and the masks eyes cgi is subtle enough not to destroy the picture if one doesn't actually want it to (it's the most recent one I saw).
Mike White It's actually really common for controversy to be instigated by the accusation that there will be controversy. It's like when someone mentions that a video doesn't have a like only for it to get a dislike out of nowhere. I mean, would you like someone to say that? People do like drama.
The fact this wasn’t picked up as a longer series with the same cast a crime. I demand flashy blonde action secretary Wonder Woman and the dulcet tones of Ricardo Montalban, damnit!
This movie might be bad, but at least they remembered that Nubia was Wonder Woman's sister. Almost every comic, cartoon, movie and TV show seems to have forgotten.
I'm pretty sure the code thing was because they changed their mind about her boss not knowing that she's Wonder Woman, but they didn't want to reshoot any of the scenes so they pulled that out of their asses
dah715 Oh that's right. I guess I just blocked out that period in DC where she was like a de-powered secret agent. *sigh* those must've been dark times.
You know, when I first started watching Cinema Snob I never noticed all the MST3K references. After marathoning the series from 2011-2016, I've noticed quite a bit. Not that it is a bad thing, I applaud all the references to Movies that were riffed by Joel/Mike and the Bots.
The martial arts focus was actually a thing in the comics in the 70s. She wore a Gi instead of her normal suit and she fought the wage gap instead of costumed villains. Funny enough there's an episode of Justice League Action where the trinity gets stuck in a fighting game, and one of the skins that they can choose from in the game is Wonder Woman 1974.
I remember seeing this movie on the Sci-Fi Channel, nowadays the "SyFy Channel". As a "Wonder Woman" Pilot, it's an epic fail on many marks. The only thing this pilot got sorta right was the fact that Diana was an Amazon warrior, but everything else is totally wrong about this iconic super-heroine. Good thing we got a much better "Wonder Woman" pilot and series in 1975 with Lynda Carter in the lead. And decades later we got a kick ass animated movie about her and an upcoming solo live action movie after "Batman V Superman:Dawn of Justice". And no I'm not gonna mention the other failed pilots, like the 1960's pilot from the producers of the 60's "Batman" series and the 2011 pilot that portrayed the character as a cold hearted bitch.
Interesting note: this actually corresponds to a general shift in Wonder Woman's comic character as she became a lot more "kung-fu actiony" in the 70s.
Given the time period this came out in, I'm wondering if this was supposed to be based off that odd period in comics in the late 60s/early 70s when Wonder Woman renounced her powers and was a super spy. Doesn't excuse the hair though.
We should thank Gloria Steinem for saying something to DC Comics for returning Wonder Woman's powers back to her... According to a superhero documentary special narrated by Keith David! See, some good came from the second-wave feminism movement!
I haven't seen the Snob in a long time, I remember watching his videos on his site. "Believe it or not, I'm walking on air" I've heard those lyrics so many times. x3
Love your reviews. Any chance you could add one to your lengthy list? "Space Cop" made by Red Letter Media. It would be right up your alley - and I quite enjoyed it. Be well and much love.
Do you consider reviewing a Turkish movie called "3 Dev Adam'' (''Three Mighty Men) as a celebration of Spidey's appearance in the new Captain America film? Please Cinema Snob, make it happen.
At the time, in the comics, WW was a martial arts using government agent/super spy As far as I am aware, they focused mainly on that for a while, not her normal traits. She also ran a trendy boutique featuring "Mod" designs! There's an issue of Super man's Girlfriend, Lois Lane, from the time, where he visits WWs shop and she gives him a groovy new Mod look, complete with Beatles style wig!
Because they'd taken her powers away. Ironically it was the success of the Linda Carter show that led to her being revamped and getting her powers back.
22:03 jajaja i love your Bond jokes Brad!!!! :) is there any posibility that The Cinema Snob review one day a James Bond movie???? still, great video as always :)
I believe that at the time this was made the comic book Wonder Woman had been stripped of her powers. Fans had been complaining that she was just a female Superman so she was changed into an Emma Peel, superspy, type character.
The actress playing Angela (or as they named her in the movie "Ahnjayla") is played by Anitra Ford, not Anita. Ms. Ford was also one of the original models on the Price is Right.
How strange is it that just last night I watched the MST3K episode Master Ninja 2, with the annotation mentioning Lazenby and Barry Nelson's portrayals as Bond, and then THIS comes along and brings up the same thing. Bizarre timing; like I'm in a schlocky Twilighty Zone!
I was wondering if this was gonna be the Wonder Woman movie you were gonna review, because the combined powers of Nash, Linkara, and Film Brain already took care of the unreleased TV pilot from 2011 starring Adrianne Palicki, who later found success as the hero Mockingbird in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. 21:48- That photo is actually of Erica Durance in the Adrianne Palicki Wonder Woman suit in that episode of Harry's Law.
to be fair, Ricardo Montiban could have amazing chemistry with a brick wall.
+David Spring
He kinda did, considering that in Star Trek 2 he was talking to no one whenever Khan had to talk to Kirk.
Wasn't he the grandfather in Spy Kids?
@@gaminggoof1542 Yes
Ain’t that the truth!
Ricardo Montalban? Well that explains this movie then. It was all just a part of someone's Fantasy Island experience.
KHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAANNNNNNN!!!!
"I have this marvelous plane that flies that much faster than yours." This line deserves to be in a better Wonder Woman feature, and said to Batman xD

The laws of thermodynamics forbid Ricardo Montalban from starring in anything bad. If he's in, it's immediately awesome.
I wished he was in the Linda Carter series as well
as long as it is equipped with the rich Corinthian leather.
I love it when the ladies, men, and couples stare at her. Totally believable.
must be that famous 1970s perfume cologne 🤭
Indiana Jones: Pet Detective. Genius dude.

I rate this movie 3 out of 7,5 donkeys.
"Why, George?" I love how just before that line, it looked like the actor was trying to remember his line, or just seemed confused.
He actually sounds like he's legitimately hurt by this betrayal!

I may have missed something, but what the HELL is with the donkey?!
It was the 70s.
The filmmakers were just being asses.
+Ninjalicious And the lazy-ass writer. I mean you have friggin' Ricardo Montalban as your villain and THAT'S what you have his plot consist of!?
+guilmon182 I hope the donkey is in Superman v. Batman.
+guilmon182 Oh My God.
It might have been this movie's version of the invisible jet.
It's Ricardo Montalban, of course he's the classiest guy in the movie.
If Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame were made in the 70s/ 80s, Montalban would have been terrific as Thanos.

The flaw in Ricardo Montablan's plan is he didn't have any mind eating ear wigs.
