  • Effective Leadership - Setting Expectations for Powerful Performance
There is a lot of training and many books written on effective leadership. Yet effective leadership comes down to just a handful of behaviors. One effective leadership practice is to set clear expectations. Employees are not you and they don’t know what you want. Effective leadership means telling employees what you expect and asking employees what they expect. Don’t guess why your employees joined your organization and what will make them stay, ask. Effective leadership requires knowing your employees’ need, likes, and dislikes, and accommodating those needs when it’s possible. Effective leadership also requires telling employees when you can’t meet their needs and discussing why. Lastly, effective leadership requires moving ineffective employees either to more appropriate roles or out of the organization. But you can’t do any of these things without knowing employees and setting clear expectations. Effective leadership requires asking the right questions so you know why your employees joined your organization and what employees need to stay and do their best work. If you want to engage and retain your best employees follow these effective leadership practices and your employees will be loyal to both you and the organization.

As an employee, having that support from a manager is absolutely essential. Their engagement towards your success is so motivating that you want to work 10x as hard as a way of showing them you appreciate their support.

the closed captioning on this is HORRIBLE. 90% doesn't match the conversation. This is great information if you don't have to rely on the CC

What if the manager's expectations are unrealistic, unnecessary, or too numerous?

Solid talk but the closed captioning is tough.

Great content, very useful for managers. Close captioning is incoherent, doesn't really follow what's being said.

Employers get out of their employees what they put into them. Not just in money. Education, Training, communication, assistance, and a removal of fear of termination due to lackthereof said provisions and resources. If numbers aren't met for example, instead of just terminating the employee, ask the employee to provide feedback. Use the feedback the employee provides and determine what they need . Sometimes, its not always the employees fault. If you can't meet your own expectations with the same resources.... then how can they do it... because you told them to??? No, because you provide them the resources needed for them to do so. Your employee's success should be your success, and you should want to provide any and all resources, communication, Education, training to attain success.

It's disappointing to see that your UA-cam account has videos that are not accessible and have inaccurate captions. While I had heard positive things about your content, it's crucial that you take steps to ensure your content is inclusive and mindful of the needs of the deaf community. I urge you to make your content accessible to everyone by providing accurate captions that correctly reflect what is being said in your videos. This not only helps to foster a positive relationship with your audience but also creates a more welcoming and inclusive online community. By making your content accessible to everyone, you can broaden your audience and make a positive impact on the online world.
